1 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2017

Driver and passenger stopped at rest area on interstate I-75. When returning to vehicle, driver and passenger connected seatbelts. Driver checked surroundings for clearance before putting Durango in reverse, with foot on brake to slowly exit parking space. While in reverse turn, vehicle suddenly accelerated at a very high speed. A chevy cruze parked behind was stuck(rear trunk area). Driver, realizing vehicle was not stopping looked into rear view mirror to search for open, safe area. Driver aimed for empty space between cruze and a chevy equinox. Durango hopped curb, bouncing down on front end of equinox, damaging and tearing off front bumper. At some point driver put both feet firmly on brake pedal. Vehicle continued onto grass, digging into grassy area, finally stopping before colliding into trees which were behind. In addition to damage to two other vehicles, the Durango sustained rear end damage. . Left rear tire was on the ground sideways with tire detached from rim. Still not sure if Durango finally responded to brakes or if tire snapping off suspension is what finally stopped vehicle. This all occurred within seconds. State police were summoned, report taken. Durango removed from scene via flat bed tow truck. Damage estimates and police report are pending at this time.

2 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle accelerated rapidly causing the vehicle to crash into the curb. The vehicle was towed to a dealer but they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage 21,000. Ad.

3 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

While parking my truck, I removed my foot from the accelerator and the truck accelerated unexpectedly, went over a curb, into a tree and back over a curb. There was over $19,000 worth of damage to the truck. A case was opened with Dodge/Chrysler and the response was received over a month later indicating that this incident was not due manufacturer fault. This truck was also at the dealership 4 days prior to be serviced for recall campaign r09/NHTSA 14v-115.

4 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2014

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. While the vehicle was idling in park, it erroneously accelerated to 5 mph and crashed into another vehicle. There was no driver in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but there was a front passenger and a second row passenger. The contact sustained an injury to the left foot and received medical attention due to attempting to enter the moving vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was notified. The manufacturer had the vehicle examined by an investigator who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 33,000.
