I am unsure. The SUV is not pulling any codes when tested. I had two places run a diagnostic. Intermittently the SUV will stall at start up. The engine light will come on during this time. Once the Durango starts the light goes away. I was told this was a sign of a known recall issue for this vehicle.
While driving whether it be on the interstate going 70 mph or on a back road doing 30 mph the vehicle will completely lose power and the only way I can get power back before someone hits me in my rear end is to put it in neutral real fast then turn the key and start the vehicle back or if able to get to side of road and put it in park and start the vehicle back up.
On Sunday, July 14 at approximately 1:00 pm eastern standard time the front passenger active head restraint deployed. The vehicle was being operated at the time and was not involved in any sort of collision at the time of the deployment. Our local Dodge dealer provided me the number for the Dodge customer advocate group, who are not open on sundays. The passenger in the front passenger seat was struck in the back of the head when the rest deployed, causing headache, discomfort, and some nausea.
The headrest deployed while parked.
Air bag light came on and car constantly loses power even though the battery installed is new direct from dealership. Recurring situation happens at least twice a week.
It is believed after dealer inspection/investigation that there is a problem with 2 ignition modules. The reason we took it to the dealer is because the vehicle randomly turns off - lights, engine, everything - while being operated causing significant risk to any occupants in the vehicle. The issue was replicated and recorded on a flight recorder installed by the dealer - paid for by the owners. The vehicle was inspected multiple times over the course of almost a year to replicate, analyze and identify the issue. There were check engine lights that came on and we had those reviewed but no issue was identified. These occurred before the vehicle started randomly turning off.
The passenger headrest made a loud noise and shot the front piece of it out extremely fast. There was no warning messages or lights. It could hurt head and neck . I have had this vehicle since it was new. Never got a recall warning about exploding headrest from Dodge. It has not been inspected by manufacturer or insurance or others.
My vehicle had shut down on me numerous times while I was driving with my kids in the car and it hasn’t been running for months now I’m without a vehicle cause I had took it to the dealership to fix the problem and the problem was never fixed.
The recall that was done on 1/4/21 for a fuel pump relay on this vehicle has not been properly working since it was installed. Have had problems with a no start would just crank and it might start on the 3 or 4 try took to the dealers and even towed there once. Kept telling them that this problem started after this recall of the fuel pump relay. Gas mileage also went down. When taken in and even towed to dealership there was no codes for anything except battery was dead from the cranking trying to start the motor. After they got the battery charged it didn't do it for them so no codes for them to see. It would do it sometimes and then wouldn't do it. If you was out and about you might get stranded. Called detroit the Dodge makers and was told that they wasn't going to do anything about it since it was out of warranty you only have a 2 years warranty on a recall part. But when they keep saying it's all done right. What does a consumer have to do to get it fixed properly!.
I have been trying to get a recall done on my car for months and I can't, fuel pump relay. Every time I call the dealership they say call back next week and nothing. I have called every dealership around and they say they get one part a week. I don't know who to go to. Am I supposed wait until I am broken down?.
While engine running and vehicle in park the driver headrest activated with a loud bang striking driver in back of head. Aside from a sore neck and slight headache the driver was fine. However, if this was to happen driving down the road this would have been highly unsafe.
When driving the car just shuts down the steering wheel gets really hard and powers off the whole car,it happenes a couple of times but the worst one I was going 50miles in a busy street and this happened almost had a car accident, this is constantly happening everyday she is my daily driver and I drive scared all the time .
Head rest popped open.
I purchased a 2013 Dodge Durango from new smyrna beach Chrysler Dodge Jeep at the end of July 2018. The morning after we purchased it the car wasn't acting right and wouldn't start. After having my vehicle up there until the end of August they finally replace the fuel relay pump. I got a letter saying that there's a recall on the vehicle and the part that was put in was a part of the recall. My vehicle started acting funny and doing the same things that it did less than two years ago. It's been struggling to start and I have video of it from from less than two years ago and now doing the same thing. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership and they told me that my battery was dead and they couldn't do anything until I replaced it. My battery was not dead when I left my house and this is what the recall does it drains the battery. I was almost in an accident less than two weeks ago when my car stalled while I was driving home with my four children in the car. The dealership made me purchase a new battery and are asking me to get an authorization from Chrysler to cover the charge and the part of I have to now pay for that too. I looked my car up and it's showing other recalls as well. I reached out to gibs law firm because they have a huge class action suit because of my same issue. My family is struggling and my husband is missing work because we don't have our vehicle.
This engine (v6 pentastar 3. 6) is tapping. It seems to be common problem among Chrysler Jeep and Dodge. Chrysler states that the engine lifts and rockers are culprit and repairs have been done on some Chrysler and Jeep models with this same engine but Dodge will not repair or compensate for the faulty parts on this engine by the maker. This is a flaw in the engine design and construction, this problem should be repaired by maker and not passed on to the consumer. Since this problem has started I noticed the car seems to stall and it's not as powerful as it once was. I took the car to a Dodge dealership that diagnosed the problem as the lifts and rockers in the engine specific to the left side.
The alternator on my vehicle was on recall since August of 2017. On November 2017 the car shut off but when I took it to a Dodge dealership they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I even took it back to the place where I bought it and they couldn't find anything wrong with it but it later starter working again. 2 weeks ago my car stopped working again and smoke started coming out from where the alternator is located. I took it to 2 different shops in town and they told me it was the alternator but then when I took it to the Dodge dealership that's when they told me that the alternator was on a recall out that the pcm needed to be replaced. They now want me to pay for this damage that was caused by a defective part. They are saying that it is not under warranty but how can they only be responsible for the defective part and not the damage that it was caused by it?.
I have to tilt my key fobs up in order to crank car it cuts off on me while I am driving and hit a bump I am told that technician switch needs to be changed.
I was driving through an almost empty parking lot (maybe 8-10 mph) when my drivers side headrest exploded open. It threw my head forward and scared the ever living out of me.
Transfer case is leaking.
In September 2019 after my check engine light came on and the vehicle was idling erratically, I took my 2013 Dodge Durango into a repair shop where I was told a fuel injector needed to be replaced. At the time I asked if they all needed to be replaced and was told not necessarily that they could last for several years before needing to be replaced. In December 2019, after experiencing some of the same symptoms I took my Durango back to the repair shop and was told one more fuel injector needed to be replaced and, this time the shop recommended that I replace the other five (5) injectors. I agreed to have them replace all five since it appeared that all of them may malfunction over the next several months. The day after I had the five replaced, my check engine light came on again. I took it back to the repair shop again where they told me it that the check engine light was not replaced to the fuel injectors and was most likely some other minor issue. A friend of my who also had a 2013 Dodge Durango had the same issue and was reimbursed for the repair.
Stalls out in the middle of the road while driving turn it back on sometimes it comes on sometimes you have to keep trying to get it to start! also stalls out on the freeway while driving.
While in motion (drive) on a city street and expressway the vehicle has shut off on me four different times on 11/24/2019 one week after becoming the new owner. The vehicle also stalled when turning the key fob to start the vehicle numerous times after shutting off. The key fob which turns the vehicle on and off at the slightest touch has abruptly turned the vehicle off while the car is in drive.
For weeks my 2013 Durango sxt won't lock when pressing the key fob and sometimes when I unlock the car, the horn goes off several times, as if I'm locking the car. I've replaced the battery in the fob, so not sure why it's not working properly. My liftgate lock stopped working for a month and recently started working. My check engine light is on and the car randomly has a delay in starting. I'm reading that it could be a fuel pump relay and the 2013 Durango has a recall for it, but my VIN isn't included in the recall even though it had a tipm recall that was repaired, which is closely associated with the fuel pump relay recall.
For the past 2 weeks my Durango has been shutting off while driving latest incident 60mph on the highway. The vehicle has restarted each time so far. I looked up a recall 15v115000, 14v-530. These both state they are not for my vehicle by VIN, however by year it is.
My vehicle will shut off while driving, sometimes it will start right bavk up and sometimes it wont. When it doesn't turn on again, I have tu oull to the side of the road which makes it difficult sometimes because the steering wheel gets hard. I took it to my mechanic and his compiter will show nothing is wrong with the vehicle.
Forward collision warning (fcw) off light going on causing transmission to down shift gears while driving; causing you to have to come completely turn off the vehicle to stop the issue from happening. It appears a faulty sensor is tripping the transmission/electrical issue.
My vehicle stalls while driving in traffic on a city street. However, the vehicle starts right back while it's coming to a slow roll. I try to crank it will rolling to prevent an accident. I have had the vehicles battery, alternator, starter, and fuel system checked. The ignition switch was replaced in the vehicle because the vehicle push start button gets stuck and a new keypad was programmed for the vehicle. The vehicle stalls while in motion at any giving moment.
I have a 2013 Dodge Durango. I purchased this vehicle in October 2018, and soon after I started experiencing the problem. On may occasions while driving the vehicle randomly turns off, all electrical inside the vehicle goes blank, power steering goes out as well. It has happened while stopped, pulling off from a stop light, on side streets, and on highways. There doesn't seem to be a specific time this happens. I have taken the vehicle into the auto shop, and to the dealership. Both have said without a code or being able to replicate the issue they can't do anything. The issue happens randomly, so I don't see how it can be replicated so easily. This is very dangerous, and could be deadly. I have a 9 week old baby that I can't have in the vehicle, because I fear for her safety.
Dodge Durango 2013- 78,000 miles: on multiple occasions while driving our 2013 Durango it just shuts off. All inside electrical devices go blanks and we lose power steering. We have documented dates of when this has occurred and it can be 5 minutes into the drive or 45 minutes on a busy highway. We have had it the garage multiple times and they continue to tell us without a code they can not diagnose any issues. This has been happening since June 2018. We reported this issue to Dodge. They suggested we go to the garage for a diagnosis. We tried again on 12/26/18 to get a diagnosis and they again could not find anything wrong with the vehicle without a code. As my husband proceeded to drive away from the garage, it shut off again. He went back into the garage and they said they couldn't find any codes. So we continue to pay for garage visits with no answers. We are now afraid to drive our only vehicle because it shuts off completely while driving. It is completely dangerous to be driving down a busy highway and you lose your power steering or if you are pulling out of an establishment and lose power in front of other cars. We paid a lot of money for this car and have taken care of it with regular oil changes and garage visits. This seems like a major safety issue and Dodge should be concerned that someone may be hurt or killed.
The head rest exploded out of no where - sounded like a gunshot while I was driving and pushed my whole head forward .
My vehicle shut off for the first time as I was driving at about 25 mph with my steering wheel and break pedal locking. I was able to put the vehicle on p and then start it with no problem. No engine light appeared at any moment. The same thing happened a second time as I was going approximately 35 mph with my steering wheel and break pedal locking. Same thing - I was able to start the vehicle with no problem, no engine light turning on. My vehicle shut off again for the third time as I was making a left at an intersection with my steering wheel and break pedal locking. I put the vehicle in p and started it with no problem, and no engine light turning on.
Vehicle kept shutting off, took it to dealer they said it was the tipm and it would be a $1401 charge to take care of it. I googled 2013 Dodge Durango and there's been recalls with it and lawsuits but they will not acknowledge it. So I have to pay $1400 for a defective part that is known for this vehicle so my family can be in a safe vehicle.
While the car is in motion on a city street it will engage into low mode all by itself, causing the car to jerk and drive very slowly. The traction light also comes on. I am unable disengage the low mode. I have tried putting the vehicle in neutral to disengage however most of the time it doesn't work. The car will at some point usually after about 10-20 mins of trying to put the car in neutral and switching the auto awd/low knob back and forth resume regular driving mode at some point. This has been happening every since I bought the car 2 years (7/2016) ago sporadically. The dealers have been unable to fix it because it doesn't throw any kind of error code and they are saying they have to see the car actually do it. This is a safety hazard because while driving the car engages in a low mode by itself causing the car to jerk and drive slower all of a sudden and could potentially cause an accident. The part of the system causing the issue is unknown.
I've been having issues with my vehicle stalling at random times where I'm stuck stranded for about 2 to 5 minutes before the vehicle will start again within the last year. I've had multiple cases open with Chrysler and the local dealership in hampon virginia. My current case number with Chrysler is 34055781. I'm now getting the run around and Chrysler seems unwilling to help me. This vehicle is unsafe and unreliable and I fear my family or myself will end up in an accident due to the lack of steering when it shuts off without warning. I've look on the internet and it's littered with this very issue that Chrysler will not acknowledge as a issue. I don't know where else to turn and I hope that someone can provide me some guidance and let me know what options if any I have to either get out of this vehicle through Chrysler or make them fix the issue permanently. It stalls at random, sitting at a red light, driving down the highway at any given speed. Chrysler claims that they've replaced alternators, fuel pump relay and tipm, but it's still doing it and it started out of nowhere. I've reported this issue about 6 times to pomoco Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of hampton and 4 times now to Chrysler.
Just bought vehicle not too long ago have had 3 issues with the car not starting. I push the push button and you hear it trying to turn over but it won't. One time it stalled in middle of road when driving got it towed to dealer ship they replaced a fuse started working again. Now it's happened twice in last week where it won't start I see several other complaints from other owners with same issue something with the tpim. I checked to see if there was a recall for this on my vehicle and none came up. I feel very unsafe now in my vehicle especially when I have my children in it .
