The vehicle has issues with stalling while driving, a/c not operating properly, windows and locks don't always work.
When coming to a stop at about 5 mph with your foot off the gas pedal and your foot on the brake. The engine is still sending gas and not idling still engaging. If you move the shifter to neutral the car will jump.
My 2014 Dodge durange center racetrack lighting took on water and cause an electrical smell throughout my vehicle. I couldn't locate the trouble area until this light burned out. At 46,000 miles, I feel this is an unacceptable issue to be facing. I wasn't aware of this is until researching just last night. If it is a known issue, I would have watched the trouble area or been proactive to reduce the possibility of reaching this point where it doesn't work with an estimated $1,000 to fix.
Rear "racetrack" center tail light burned/melted causing damage to rear hatch, light, plastic trim. Vehicle was in motion through town with two children (ages 5 & 2) when smoke was noticed in rear of vehicle, rear plastic was then pulled/broken off to check the rear when the burning/melting was noticed and water pooling around bottom of tail light.
Driver side headrest inadvertently deployed while operating vehicle. Headrest fastener damage in the process making the fastener unrepairable. Dealer states there is no current open recall on this issue even though there even though there are numerous complaints about the same issue online.
I am writing to you regarding what I consider to be a safety issue with my 2014 Dodge Durango. I got into my car to go to work, started the car and as it was running I smelled electrical burning. I looked around the inside and outside of the car. I noticed the rear track lights had parts of the lights that weren't lit up. I looked closer and there was water in the lights. When I first viewed the vehicle, I liked the added safety feature of the back being lit. I am experiencing condensation and water collecting inside the lights, resulting in the lights failing. I know that many other Durango owners are experiencing this same issue and have similar concerns. Please see carpcomplaints. Com. I am asking that Dodge recognize this manufacturing issue and design flaw, and have the tracking lighting fixed, at no cost to the vehicle owner. I had first contacted mopar/Dodge customer care. The response was that my vehicle was out of warranty and also past some undefined small window when Dodge would assist with the cost of repair. Customer care reference #74976328. Apparently Dodge does not consider this to be a manufacturing defect. Again, I refer to the high number of complaints regarding this issue that are easily accessible on-line. And I have only mentioned one site. I would be interested to know how many such complaints Dodge has directly received. The customer care email indicates that if Dodge's on-going internal investigations show this to in fact be a manufacturing defect, they will contact me. I have no reason to believe that general on-going internal investigations will include an investigation into the rear external light issue. I am hopeful that this safety issue will be looked into. Thank you very much for your consideration.
My lift gate lamp assembly is retaining water which is causing electrical shorts in my tail lights. This is safety hazard in the state of hawaii which caused me to fail my safety inspection and I cannot register my car.
Rear led litigate light collects water inside unit and burns out the led. This the third time it had happened. Light was replaced twice already.
Rear taillight led bar went out after water entered the light bar through small openings and defective weather stripping. The lights on the Durango are not sealed good enough to prevent water from entering. The light and the rear camera stopped working for the same reason. This is a defect that originated during production and can cause an accident. The consumer should not be responsible for replacing these parts every couple months because of water damage.
The racetrak lift gate housing has accumulated water and caused brake lights to malfunction.
Rear racetrack lighting leaks and led's are burned out.
The infotainment system head unit failed causing gps navigation, hvac/blower, compass, and climate temperature control to not function. I had to replace it with a new unit costing $806. 25. The warranty was expired. It suddenly did not work one day when I turned the vehicle on in the morning.
The tail light of the vehicle is not sealed and accumulates moisture causing it to short out. The tail light has been replaced 3 time previously by Dodge. It has now happened a fourth time and Dodge is not standing behind it. The most recent tail light is less than 2 years old.
Water continues to leak and pool inside the tail light and has caused some of the led bulbs to go out.
The racetrack tail light will fill with water during a rain storm causing the rear running light to go out. This could pose a serious safety issue if the running lights go out at night. I started noticing this problem on or around 4/12019 and has progressively gotten worse. Doing research has lead me to several posts on the internet with others having this same issue. Here is just one of the many link talking about this problem. . Read more...
Chexk engine light has been coming on and off for the past few days. Got it scanned and the code the comes up is a p052 - faulty oul pressure sensor. After some research I found there are quite a few other models effected by this issue but only certain ones are being repaired without cost to customer. On my dash the oil preasure reads at 85%-100% at idle and stays at 100% when giving it gas.
Rear racetrack lighting has filled with water from rain and shorted out the l. E. D's.
Rear backup lamp light bar assembly is leaking water. Water visibly observed in light bar and causing led's to fade. Had it resealed by dealership continued to leak and now light bar has completely failed and no longer turns on, this is a major safety concern as well due to license plate light no longer functioning as well. Vehicle is scheduled to go in for repairs regarding a failed light bar and safety issue.
The rear liftgate "race track" light assembly badly collects water. I'm not talking condensation either. After a day of steady rain it almost fills both sides of the light. After one car wash it has about an inch of water in it. It happens any day, any time of the year when ever it's raining. I have to remove the two bottom mounting screws to drain the water out. Most of the leds have gone out and I swear I have seen smoke coming from the light once or twice. New from the dealership the light is over $1,000 and I have the extended bumper to bumper warranty which I have found does not cover the replacement even though it is a very widespread issue all over the web. The dealership told me for some reason some peoples warranty covers it and most are rejected. I feel this is a major concern since water and electrical components usually dont get along. I'm wondering how many vehicals must catch fire first before a complaint recall is issued? or do a few people have to be killed first? I personally know four people who have the same issue. This needs to be taken care of for the safety of the driver and all who follow behind us. Please read a bit on any of the Durango forums, mopar forums, or even on your own database of complaints. I know there are hundreds on there because I read the forums and am putting in a complaint. The two pictures I'm attaching are from one car wash, just ten mintues of periodically having water run down the back of the car filled that much. Its unacceptable and you know it is. . . . . So do something about it.
Vehicle accelerated without driver input, including going up a hill without driver pressing accelerator. Engine redlined while stopped at a traffic light without driver input. Vehicle put into neutral, but engine revving would not decrease, and then driver put vehicle into park which continued to rev at high rpms, but vehicle would then not shift out of park. Vehicle was turned off and then back on after 45 to 60 seconds, but vehicle continued to rev engine at high rpms and showed that vehicle was in 8th gear. Approximately 30 minutes later, vehicle would not turn on. Tried to turn vehicle on and it would turn itself off without trying to start.
While vehicle was parked, I noticed the "racetrack" style led tail lights, specifically the large section across the trunk, on my Dodge Durango were no longer working. I did an online search and multiple incidents regarding this same issue popped up. It appears a faulty seal around the tail light allows for water to enter the inside of the light causing it to burn out. The only fix for this is to replace the entire led unit at a cost of over $1000 which the vehicle owner must pay for. The replacement of the led light does not fix the leaking issue allowing for the light to burn out again.
While operating vehicle (street, dry, day, speed approx. 30-40) abs fault lights and brake warning light illuminated. When vehicle was parked would not restart or disengage park. After waiting 5 hours vehicle started with check engine light illuminated. On drive to dealer for service check engine light turned off, abs lights then illuminated and on parking vehicle at dealer it would not engage transmission. Dealer incorporated recalls u65 update pcm and u06 autopark functionality. Abs module placed on order and dealer returned vehicle as fit for use 10 October 2018. After driving approx. 10 miles with abs lights illuminated and parking for 6 hours vehicle restarted and behaved normally for . 5 mile down entrance ramp to limited access highway. Abs lights illuminated, brake red light and check engine lights illuminated, vehicle slipped from gear and would not reengage. Transmission would not shift from park and all attempts to restart engine unsuccessful. Vehicle towed to dealer.
The tailight is not water tight and water leaks in and pools on the bottom. This water shorts out the tailight and causes it to not light up at all. This short circuiting can also cause multiple other issues for things unrelated to the tailight, causing other systems to short.
Water has entered the "racetrack" lighting assembly on the rear liftgate causng parts of it to not function.
Rear racetrack tail light fills with water. Looks like Dodge overtightened the bolts causing the plastic to crack which leads to the main tail light to fill with water and short out. This causes the tail lights to not function making it a huge safety concern. Of course happens when vehicle is just out of warranty and Dodge won't do a thing about it, it according to them is a me problem. I have seen other vehicles with the same problem. This racetrack design tail light system is a terrible design and a dangerous one.
Like so many others, my taillight has filled with water and stopped working. I was notified by a fellow driver. I had no idea and could have easily been rear ended. I have no idea why this issue isn't a recall. It is a danger and will cause injury or death eventually.
The racetrack tailgate light leaks and a large amount of water gets inside after anytime its left in the rain, or after a car wash. This will build up and cause a short. This also freezes in the winter and will eventually crack the entire expensive tailgate light. This racetrack light needs to be replaced.
License lamp and a portion of the race track brake are out due to water leakage. No apparent damage to taillamp. License lamp socket is melted.
The backup light assembly is this vehicle fills with water during rain or car washes, speed is irelevant. The water shorts out the led lights, causing them to fail. The assembly is supposed to be water tight, therefor there is no way for the water it collects to drain. Therefore, the metal components of this assembly are also beginning to rust due to the persistent presence of water. Replacing this failed assembly costs $1,300. This component should continue to be water tight on well maintained vehicles, such as mine. This failure feels like a flaw in the design of the original part. Dodge should replace these failed assemblies at a much more reasonable price, or free of charge, due to the fact that the component is designed to last the life of the vehicle, and certainly isn't for me and many others.
Track lighting on the rear door is not sealed and water gets into the light housing and the rear camera as well as the license plate lights. Some of the lights in the track are out and I have to keep replacing the license plate lights. Water is just sitting on the lights so they burn out. I'm afraid this might start a electrical fire in the rear door or my rear lights will just stop working.
The rear racetrack lighting on my 2014 Durango takes on water when raining, causing rear deck lighting to fail. Dealer refuses to address issue and has no knowledge of issue. I am constantly draining water out of rear light racetrack.
My rear racetrack light started filling with water. Shortly after the right side went out. Called my local Dodge dealer and was told I'd have to replace the whole piece which is $800. 00+. This is ridiculous to have to replace the whole thing. Sounds like a design flaw to me. And when I researched this issue; it seems to be a regular thing for Durango owners. Wish mopar/Dodge would offer some assistance with this problem.
The touch screen works part of the time and other times not. Also air works sometimes and not other times, sometimes half the car is cold while at the same temp the other half of the car is hot air from the vent. Also the seat set up does not keep settings.
Rear light taking on water causing bulbs to blow.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 doge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, a burning odor was detected as the check engine warning light illuminated indicating battery voltage low. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (peacock Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram hilton head, hardeeville, SC 29927) who indicated that the water pump was fractured and needed replacement but the vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system) as a possible reason for the failure but the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the VIN was not part of the recall. The failure mileage was 52,326. The VIN was not available. Jc.
