general problems of the 2014 Dodge Durango

Dodge Durango rt has developed the evap system failure. After stopping to refuel the gas tank the engine will not restart till after several attempts and even after restarting it idles erratic and sputters even to point of a miss and shuts off. Then it will restart and slowly clear up, and operate normal till the next refuel. I've had it into several repair shops and dealerships only to have to purchase parts and pay for repair and experience the issue again. Considering it's fuel vapor related and could cause a explosive or flash fire event in the dry summer season possibly if the vapors become a large enough volume under the hood or in a closed space.

Car has stalled several times recently on the interstate at least 5 times. Randomly just shuts down. Once stopped the dash says shift in to park to start. Then it will start.

A new 3. 6 pentastar engine was installed in my 2014 Dodge Durango in July 2019, this repair was over $5,000 and fca only granted a $1300 goodwill towards the cost. After maintaining the vehicle with a new engine in it, this engine is now failing too. The problem is due to the right cylinder head being damaged. This has caused a knocking noise emitting from the engine and rough idling whenever the vehicle is on. A tune up was done last year in December when check engine light came on, with new spark plugs and filters put in but this has not solved the issued. Taking the vehicle back to mechanic to do further diagnostic, a pressure test was done showing the 6 cylinder had no pressure. A damage head with possible damage to crankshaft rods and rocker arms. This vehicle is our main vehicle for our family, and the price to repair this damage on the second engine this car has had is too high. If we continue driving this vehicle, we would result in total power failure, worst case a blown engine. Complaints have been filed with attorney general of the state of florida along with the better business bureau.

Rackin pinion, does not through engine light when issues arise, jerking, lumbar in drivers set stop working, 120v outlet came out, water in back lumanis lamps, radio and all dash components do things on its own.

Replace oil filter housing and sensor 3 times on vehicle within 2 years. This was completed twice at the dealership and once at a body shop. Driver side window motor control button fell off and inside spring broke.

Manifold bolts regularly break on Dodge Durango v8 vehicles. Mine are broken, which results in exhaust leak and interferes with the exhaust system, leading to engine check lights and potentially other performance or emissions issues. Symptoms include a loud ticking sound that comes from the engine bay at startup. Fca issued a service bulletin on this known problem and many customers have reported this issue on internet forums dedicated to this vehicle. Several customers have had these bolts break multiple times. The engine block and the manifold are different materials so they expand at different rates with increase in temperature. This places excess stress on small diameter bolts, which eventually fail due to this defect.

The engine was making a loud clicking noise as soon as I started it up. I towed it to the dealer (sports durst) and the diagnostic said the engine needs rebuilding. The SUV has only 80. 041 miles on it and the engine has deteriorated is a common problem with this mileage. There are comments all over the internet about the hemi 5. 7 engine failing around 80,000 miles. I should not have to pay to repair an engine this is already defective when it leaves the factory.

1st all of the interior lights won’t turn off no matter what you do. Doors all closed locked still stay on while driving can’t manually switch them off 2nd yesterday I went to pick up my daughter at school and the car all of a sudden just stopped running. It won’t start. Before it would do that and I had to exit the vehicle and use the remote start. Tried it this time and it said fob deactivated and just beeped. Then the alarm went off and wouldn’t turn off. When the alarm finally stopped the radio turned on for no reason but the car still won’t start. Fob has a new battery still won’t start. This car isn’t even old and only has 60,000 miles on it. Lucky I was pulling over and parking I could have died. Apparently this is a known issue it had to happen to me for me to find out about it. You’ll do a recall for cruise control but not this!!!’ crazy this car is a defective death trap. It’s sitting on the curb in front of the house now since I had to have it towed home. I’m not driving it ever again.

2014 Dodge Durango, with 125,000. Has recently required replacement of the oil/cooland housing, which has a known defect and cost $1800 (meineke). Now requires replacement of rocker/lifters/cam at a cost of $4,200 (ramsey Dodge, Chrysler Jeep). Both repairs are known defects, but not warrantied or subject to recall by Chrysler despite these well known issues and a recent lawsuit.

1. When I want to start my car it cranks more and long and does not start in first attempt, second attempt it starts. Took the car to the dealer they told fuel pump, and when the problem started its just only 110000kms. Send the message to fca they does not care they told the car finished manufacturer warranty we have to repair and its a known problem for them. Funny part is my friend also took the same car same model with one week difference he also face the same issues on same month on 2020 oct I belive. I already reported but no response. This fuel pump can cause problem while driving also if pressure fails and no supply of fuel then itbcan cause accident. The other thing is some other manufacturer for american and german cars already called for recall due to fuel pump on Jan 2021, still fca manufacturer does not care they just ignore the complaint and issue telling warranty finish. 2. My second issue happend when around 65000 lms engine is giving noise ticking, dealer told tappet issue warranty finished cant do anything. U can drive its just give sound only. Now the sound is increased and I informed manufacturer they told y I did not tell before my warranty for car is finished, and if we go and check 2014 model Durango the problem os common and they dont want to fix they just want us to pay huge amount of money to repair our own, they knows their car have these problems and they never bothered. On my view they have to take initiative to recall to fix. If u go to complaint forum there is lot like this problm. Fca just dont care after they sell their car and want to pay huge amount of money amd does not give reliable car. Nhsta have to involve and take action. Hope I will get positive action from nhsta where manufacturer ignored.

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that he was observing that an oil stain was showing on his drive way. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the oil filter adapter housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However the contact observed that the oil leak had reoccurred. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the same mechanic who replaced the oil filter adapter housing again, however the failure reoccurred. The contact returned to the same mechanic who advised that the adapter filter was manufactured with an aluminum housing and no longer in plastic. The contact stated that the mechanic was test driving the vehicle after he had installed the aluminum oil filter adapter housing. The contact stated that the mechanic advised he was driving at approximately 30 mph when the vehicle began emitting smoke. The contact was advised by the mechanic that he pulled off of the roadway, turned the vehicle off, but was unable to open the hood due to flames. The fire department was called and they extinguished the flames. The vehicle was towed back to the mechanic's shop. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The fuse box keep blowing the emc fuse and now power steering want work the fuse box was smoking like it was on fire and I called the dealer said nothing they can do and I pulled said have recalls on my Dodge and I want to know why if they fix it why it still giving me trouble I have a disabled wife and kids has to ride this car to drop now it not able to be drove because can't keep the fuse from blowing and shutting the whole car down if I have I file a law suit against Dodge because my family could have got burn up in car that is defeated and has had recall and not fix the issues either the dealer lied and said they fixed or it wasn't fixed at all I be a manicure for 34 years and I know because I work on Dodge Ford chevy all the time and I sure ant no dumb ass but anything happens to my and the car issue not fix I will contact a lawyer over this matter as today because I call 3 places and nobody want to get it in the dealer just because it says issue fix come now I ant dumb and I ant paying for a recall defect to be fix when it should been fix from the get dt.

When coming to a stop at about 5 mph with your foot off the gas pedal and your foot on the brake. The engine is still sending gas and not idling still engaging. If you move the shifter to neutral the car will jump.

I've had this vehicle for about 5 years, I barely hit 40k and I am experiencing a lot of lifter noise. With all the complaints I am surprised they have not recalled for this purpose. When it's stationary the sound is a lot louder than when the vehicle is in motion.

While driving on the highway, the car would no longer accelerate and the engine had turned off. All electrical indications were normal and no warnings appeared. I coasted to the side of the road at which point the vehicle displayed the message "shift vehicle to park and restart engine. " I put the vehicle in park and restarted the engine. This has occurred multiple times at varying speeds under various conditions. Vehicle was taken to dealership who had the vehicle for 3 days and was unable to reproduce or diagnose the issue. No codes were stored in the vehicle.

Ive had a total of seven problems with this vehicle related to the engine. Now there is a time king sound with full oil changes on the plan every threeomths. I trhly believe this vehicle has engine problems with the way its built.

Chexk engine light has been coming on and off for the past few days. Got it scanned and the code the comes up is a p052 - faulty oul pressure sensor. After some research I found there are quite a few other models effected by this issue but only certain ones are being repaired without cost to customer. On my dash the oil preasure reads at 85%-100% at idle and stays at 100% when giving it gas.

Vehicle accelerated without driver input, including going up a hill without driver pressing accelerator. Engine redlined while stopped at a traffic light without driver input. Vehicle put into neutral, but engine revving would not decrease, and then driver put vehicle into park which continued to rev at high rpms, but vehicle would then not shift out of park. Vehicle was turned off and then back on after 45 to 60 seconds, but vehicle continued to rev engine at high rpms and showed that vehicle was in 8th gear. Approximately 30 minutes later, vehicle would not turn on. Tried to turn vehicle on and it would turn itself off without trying to start.

I submitted a previous report related to this issue. Today my car was parked on the street and totally started on its own. This car does not have a remote start. I was walking towards my car trying to turn off the panic horn which was sounding. I was approximately 15 to 20 feet away from the car when it started. This is the 4th time this car has started on its own. The car was under warranty the other three times this occurred, but the dealership checked it out and said they could not find a reason. I am really concerned this could occur while the car is parked in our garage and cause carbon monoxide poisoning (the first 3 times it started on its own the car was parked in the garage. ).

Bad oil pressure sensor with code p0520. Engine light suddenly come on when idle. Since then it read high pressure close to 100psi in the morning right after I start my car. Lowered as I drive but the engine light doesn't go off.

I purchased this vehicle in October 2016. The a/c when turned on blows hot air. After I start the vehicle and let it run a minute the air is warm. If I have been in motion for 5 minutes or more the air is hot as if the heater is on. No issues can be found as far as leaks or anything else. This has been an issue since purchase. The a/c was not used in October since it is hot but when I use the remote start the air will turn on but never gets cold.

Anti-theft system activated upon exiting vehicle and key fob became desensed due to rf interference in area. Dash display indicated that "key fob not recognized". Car has keyless start button and could not be started. All functions on key fob were not operational. Roadside towing assistance had to be requested.

The vehicle was in park in a parking space and running with my daughter, mother-in-law, and father-in-law sitting in the backseat. I reached in from the passenger side door of the vehicle and pressed the ignition to turn the vehicle off. The vehicle ignored my command, the dash began flashing, and the car engaged in drive and took off driving across the parking garage. I had to sprint around the vehicle and jump in to the drivers seat to engage the brake and turn the vehicle off before it collided with other vehicles in the garage.

Vehicle was parked at a boat launch in preparation of putting boat on trailer. Car was in park, engine idling. Got out of the car to retrieve boat while partner would drive the car out after boat was trailered. While partner was attempting to get behind the wheel, car suddenly started backing into the lake until submerged. The transmission was still in park until tow truck operator got into the vehicle to manually release transmission in order to tow out. Probably not repairable.

Upon leaving the dealership after a brand new car purchase a strong gasoline odor filled the cabin with the a/c or heat turned on. Upon exiting the car a strong gasoline odor was present around the hood and left front fender. The odor has rendered vehicle unusable to transport infant and toddler. Dodge service has had the vehicle for over 2 days with no resolution.

While driving I noticed car wouldn't shift gear. It was stuck on d6 when came to a full stop at stop sign. Then car wouldn't move forward after pressing gas pedal. Getting out of car to ask for assistance to push car on side of road, the car started rolling forward. Ran back to car n drove back home. Parked car in garage and turned off car then back on. Now the car wouldn't go to any gears. It's stuck on park. It wouldn't reverse or drive. Called chrystler warranty online and they had it towed to the nearest dealer for repair.

While driving the car was stuck on d6. It wouldn't shift gears up or down. Pulled over and was at complete stop but car was still on d6. Had turned car off and on then the engine light came on.

April 9, 2014 – Wednesday morning. I was driving my child to school. He left the car and the car started to chime - key fob not detected. I was still in the car, with the key fob in car, but still could not move until turned car off and restarted. – video taped myself.

February 28,2014 – Friday – 7:55am car does not start after 12 attempts. Call Chrysler service. Car is towed to service. Service finds no fault or error message. March 25, 2014 -Tuesday – car will not start – no error code – video taped. April 2, 2014 – Wednesday – car will not start – no error code – video taped. July 26, 2014 – Saturday – car will not start – no error code - video taped. Bring car in to service Monday, July 28. Module needs to be updated. 2 hours in service. August 1, 2014 – Friday – car will not start – no error code. Was able to turn on car via remote start. August 14, 2014 – Thursday – car will not start – no error code. Video taped. Was able to start car via remote start. August 23, 2014 – Saturday – car will not start – no error code. Video taped. Was able to start car via remote start.

January 11, 2014 - Saturday evening – 9:15pm car begins to seize while driving. Jerking backing and forth. Begins to lose power on busy main road. Have a car full of children and it is foggy & raining. Yellow engine light goes on. Turn car off and restart. Engine light is still on. Had to drive at reduced speed on main road due to lack of power. Car continued to jerk and seize entire ride home. January 13, 2014 – Monday contact Chrysler roadside assistance and have car towed to service center. They have no loaner car for us. We are informed by service that the car has a “gear ratio error code that effected the transmission” and is kept overnight for additional road testing. Car is picked up 1/14/14.
