1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/15/2025

Vehicle sudden unintended acceleration – safety complaint vehicle: 2022 Dodge Durango weather: rain situation: the vehicle was at an almost complete stop at a red light and in a 5 feet distance from the car in front. Without pressing the accelerator, the car suddenly surged forward at significant force and hit the vehicle in front of us. There was no driver input on the accelerator. The incident appeared to be caused by an electronic or computer malfunction, possibly related to moisture from the rain. This could have resulted in serious injury or death if another vehicle had not been in front of us to stop the acceleration. Please investigate this issue, as it represents a major safety risk.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 04/13/2025

The acc will just turn off without warning. A yellow warning light turns on to signal driver it is not operational. This has happened many times. The warning light also occurs when the system is not turned on. The fcc warning comes on intermittently and states like the acc service immediately. Both of the systems are meant to be safety features however it recommended that the driver pull over turn off the vehicle and restart to restart or reboot the system. Our safety and the safety of others has been put at risk when the system turns off without warning especially when we are driving in heavier traffic areas like when we go to SC to visit family. Terribly hazardous and anxiety inducing. Not at all reliable. The systems warning lamps and failure have been concurrent and began shortly after the vehicle was purchased in March. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but supposedly no code found to authorize repairs. I have copies of all work done on my Durango as well as pictures of the warnings one multiple dates. Am unable to upload at this time.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/08/2021

In the smallest snow flurry while driving the fcw system, as well as the acc system will disable themselves because the system reports the sensor is blocked. This has happened every time I drive in any kind of currently falling snow. If I stop the car, wipe the sensor off, and continue driving, the system will work for a little while until snow clogs/accumulates on the sensor again.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/26/2021

2019 didge Durango. Purchased used with c. 22k miles on the clock. Have driven c2. 5k miles and the following has happened 3 times. When accelerating the car seems to lose power momentarily and then gets stuck in third gear. Cannot shift up or down. After parking and restarting the engine the issue is resolved but the check engine light comes on. Goes off sometimes after a few hours, sometimes after 1 or 2 days.

8 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/19/2021

3 malfunctions within a month time frame. The car will start and run normally. Then it will suddenly come to a halt because the engine will continue to run but the transmission knob will not be able to move, and the entire electrical panel lights up. Repeated attempts to use the push button start to unlock the transmission knob and be able to start car fail. This has happened 2 of the 3 times on major roadways in traffic. Pd was called for last incident. The car has been to the dealer 3 times, dealer is unable to replicate problem and unable to pull codes from computer every single time. Vehicle has been inspected by dealer every single time. No warning lights or lamp or messages have appeared prior to this issue. The last incident - as described on major roadway - my children were in vehicle. This is a complete and dangerous issue, still not being addressed. The car had come to a light, stopped, the auto engine had kicked in, and when time to move, the entire panel lit up and transmission knob locked once again.

9 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

My car showed all kinds of notices on the screen and was not turning on correctly and shaking while driving or standing. I took it to the dealer and was told my entire engine will have to be replaced due to oil sludge on the engine and this will cost be around $9000. I’ve been researching and it seems this tends to happen a lot to Dodge car engines. My car has under 60,000 miles.

10 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2013 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/29/2021

We were driving on the highway using the adaptive cruise control with the 3 furthest distance setting. Someone got in front of me and the fcw light came on and the engine shut off. We were able to pull off to the side of the road. I tried to start the car afterwards and it wouldn’t start. So we sat there for 15 minutes or so and tried again and it started. It happened again about 3 weeks later with the adaptive cruise control. Haven’t used it since.

11 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2012 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/09/2021

The forward crash warning shuts off automatically while I'm going down the road. It also gets stuck in park if this happens while I'm sitting still. I have to restart the car to get it out of gear. It also randomly tells me that adaptive cruise is not available.

12 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/12/2020

While driving on the highway, the computer system shut down and all screens went black. The car still drove but none of the controls worked anymore. We could not roll the windows down or turn the fans or a/c on and it was summer so the interior of the car immediately became unbearably hot. We pulled over as soon as it was safe to do so and turned the car off and back on. The system came on partially and we were only able to open the sunroof and roll the rear windows down half way before it stopped working again. We tried cycling the car on and off several more times but the computer system and all controls remained unresponsive and the screens black. The door locks did not work either so we couldn’t secure the vehicle. It was Sunday so no Dodge dealerships were open. We were on a family vacation and half way to our destination so we drove an additional 3-4 hours to reach our destination. I took the Durango to the dealership the following day and they kept it for a week. They disconnected and reconnected the battery cable and the system worked again and they could not replicate the problem. We drove home after that without issue. Two weeks later, the same thing happened. This time, I pulled over and disconnected and reconnected the battery cables and that seemed to solve the issue again. We took it back to our local dealership and they could not replicate the issue.
