3 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/12/2020

While driving my 2016 Dodge Durango limited, my check engine light came on, then the (abs) light came on and then my battery light came on. Every light on the dash and system warning was lit up. Then they started flickering and then the vehicle died right in the middle of a busy city road during peak traffic. I have replaced the batteries thinking that may have something to do with it. I have had the alternator checked and it is good. I had to get it towed to my house and has been sitting ever sense with no power. I don't know what the issue is, but for a car to die in the middle of the road during peak traffic is completely unsafe and unacceptable. Plus I had only had the car for 2 months.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/02/2020

My car gets stuck in 4low when in awd. Car stalls all the time they have not fixed that recall as of yet. My check engine comes on and tire sensors to 0 on all sides when tires are fine. I can't turn left or right without clunking jerking. Dodge dealer knows the transfer cases have issues but no recalls. The Dodge forum is full of complaints about same issue happening to least 20 others I have seen so far. I'm being charged about $5000 to change transfer switch and case now. But with so many of us why hasn't this been recalled. I think the whole problem is our computers are faulty. I have all kinds of lights flashing up at times for no reason and no codes are found with cel on. I was driving out of a store car park when light flashed and car got stuck in 4low now I live only to get to is from a highway and when that is 55mph and I can only go 20mph with wide turns we have an issue.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/15/2020

My car stalled on me in the middle of an intersection. I almost got hit by an 18 wheeler. It would not move, all kinds of things started going off on the dash and codes . We had to pull the gear shift release to get it in n to push it out of the road. It lost all power and wouldn't even start had to jump it off and replaced the batteries still nothing, alternator and everything else tested good. No idea what's going on and the dealership has been no help! I haven't even had this car for 30 days yet. I have video I can send of what it's doing.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/16/2020

My 2011 Dodge Durango was in park and running when my front windshield wipers came on, and I could not shut them off. I also came to realize my steering wheel and dash accessories were inoperable (including my horn and blinkers). My traction control light came on along with fcw/ acc system failure light. I brought my Durango to the rainbow Dodge dealership. They advised me that the steering angle sensor needed to be replaced, but the part was on back order. Since they did not have the part, I ordered the part myself and had it replaced. Changing the part did not fix my problem. I went back to the dealership to let them know I changed the part, and it did not fix my problem. I asked them how did they know it was the steering angle sensor, and what did the scanner show. . . They told me that they did not put my vehicle on a scanner to diagnose the issue. (which they charged me $147 for that diagnosis. ) I have to plug in/pull out my wiper fuse to use when needed. I do not have blinkers or a horn. This sounds like a similar recall on the esc in the 2013-2014 models where there is a debris covering disabling proper connection to my traction control system. It is dangerous to be driving without blinkers and a horn and faulty windshield wipers.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

My engine shuts off while I am driving my vehicle . Without warning. This has happened on several occasions. The vehicle comes to a complete stop when it shuts off.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/03/2020

I was driving my car one afternoon after work and all of a sudden all the lights on my dashboard lit up. I turned the car off rested for a minute then restarted it and proceeded to the oil change place to get my car an oil change thinking that would do the trick. Fast forward to Friday off this same week my car all of a sudden stopped working. The car lights blink for a second off the car comes on but otherwise it had not fully started in 2 days.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2000 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 02/01/2020

Car given to me by a family member in Nov 2019 with 135k miles, was the original owner, vehicle was very well maintained. Approximately Feb 2020, driving 70 mph down interstate, car acted like it died-lost all power for about 10 secs, then it came back to life. It was about a month later, it did it again. Mechanic replaced throttle body position sensor(?). Soon after, vehicle started to just die while driving. No noise, rattles, no check engine lights, just would shut off like the key was turned off. Didn't matter the terrain or speed, just while driving. Initially it would immediately restart. It seems to have gotten worse since the hotter weather. And it shuts down after driving about 20 mins when the engine has really warmed up. I finally noticed a no bus message on the odometer-which from researching means the computer isn't communicating. Mechanic unable to pull a code, said it's clearing itself out right after it throws it. Today went in, and we got lucky and hooked machine while car was running and it died. And the scanner would not recognize nor communicate with the pcm. Numerous issues with Dodge/Chrysler vehicles for this exact same problem. And it doesn't seem to have a single fix for it. Some a new pcm worked, some other sensors, one said just loosening the screws on the pcm worked for him, some nothing worked. This is so dangerous, car just shutting off without warning while you're driving. I can not believe this hasn't been a recall issue after 20 years. I see a lot of this model of vehicle on the road still, but it doesn't seem limited to just the Durangos either. It almost seems as if something near the pcm or the wires to it are getting too hot and causing an issue or even burning out the pcm. Did a reset by unhooking battery cable, and the car restarted this last time. This is dangerous for everyone.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/15/2019

When outside temperature goes beyond 80 degrees fahrenheit, while in motion, the computer has shut off the engine multiple times and a code saying no bus is displayed in the dash for a few seconds. It has happened to me going 70 mph. It has happened going 45 mph and as low as 20 mph. All I have to do is pull over and let the computer cool off and it turns on again. This is very dangerous as power steering shuts off and brakes become very hard. I have a great car in the winter. In the summer it's a death trap that can shut off engine, power steering and brakes in the middle of the freeway. Check youtube and google for "Dodge Durango no bus" and you will find this is a major issue with the computer.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/14/2019

Vehicle is switching into 4wd low while in motion. I have also heard the actuator activating while the vehicle is not running and without the key in the ignition. I believe this to be an electrical issue based on research that appears to be happening in multiple vehicles for Dodge. I am concerned that the system could change into 4wd or 4wd lock at a highway speeds causing dangerous and unsafe driving conditions.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2000 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/09/2019

Basically, for each problem I'm having either my truck shuts off without warning while driving at any speed or in the middle of turning (electrical stability). 26 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/30/2019

My 2011 Dodge Durango engine shut off while driving. The first two times it happened exiting the same exit on a right sharp turn at the same part of the turn. The steering wheel locked and I had to force all my weight to turn it and pull off to the shoulder avoiding getting hit from behind and the side. Dodge dealer claimed nothing was wrong but wanted to keep car to investigate. I filed a complaint and opened a case number with Chrysler corporation. There was a recall with first owner for this happening and it was supposively fixed, I believe the problem was not entirely fixed. I avoided that exit thinking I temporarily took care of the problem. Third time my engine shut off while driving was on a left hand turn. No one was behind us so we avoided being rear ended. Car was placed in neutral and manually restarted. I called Chrysler again using same case number from before but I was told theres nothing that can be done because the warranty expired. 4th and 5th time my engine shut off while driving happened today , first was at a stop in traffic, no turn. I press gas and realized my engine was off while electrical stays on, so my air conditioner and radio weren't effected. And last I turned right into a drive way at work, engine turned off, steering wheel locked. I had to place in park and restart my car. There is a defect with this vehicle that Chrysler needs to fix. The first two times happened on a freeway exit. I may not be so lucky next time. This is our family car that my children ride in and Chrysler doesnt want to help with problem. I don't mind pitching in to help problem. I tried trading in to Dodge but didnt have down payment for new one.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 05/02/2019

While driving, svc awd light comes on, then goes out. No problem there but that is only the beginning. In a slow hard turn on reverse, the wheels seem to bind up with an uncontrolled lock into four wheel drive. With my research into this problem, I discovered many other people with the exact same problem. 72 pages of the same complaint !! some even tell the of car shifting into 4 wheel drive on the highway slowing the car into dangerously slow speed . I traced complaints back to 2004 , all deal with the transfer case shift motor or the wiring controlling it. Also related to the a/c connection, or the awd, 4 high and 4 low lock switch. I experienced the shift into four wheel drive in slow speed turning and backing but to have it shift into 4 lo lock during driving has me afraid to drive it at all. Over 350 complaints of the same problem, with only one web site sounds like a major design problem that Dodge has not addressed at all. Fyi I bought this car used at koch 33 dealer and they did not disclose the problem in advanced. Thanks rich.
