Transfer case motor actuator engages upon unlocking the doors using the wireless remote entry remote, also when using my trunk opening button from the remote sometimes the transfer case motor will actuate the truck will sometimes shift itself into 4 wheel lock and 4-wheel low sitting at a red light while I'm in drive this cannot happen at speed it creates an immediate safety concern because it can create a complete loss of power to the vehicle causing an imminent crash. By the transfer case engaging 4-wheel drive when the vehicle is at highway speeds it creates a violent collision between the transmission output shaft and the input shaft of the transfer case causing transmission and and transfer case failure and loss of power to the vehicle what can cause a collision this has been an ongoing issue for years from 2002 at least 2008 Dodge Durangos and Dodge rams I am a Ford stst senior master certified technician and I cannot believe that this issue has not been addressed by the government yet this is completely uncalled for and Dodge needs to be held responsible for the electrical problems related to this malfunction the problem lies within the electrical wiring in the module between the 4 wheel drive switch inside the cab of the truck and the body control module then it's splices off and piggybacks to the transfer case control module somewhere between those three legs there is a problem whether it be in the module the wiring or both and it needs to be addressed immediately. Beings that I am a technician, I have already replaced my transfer case control motor actuator and fully examined all the wiring running to it and from it and found no shorts to ground no frayed wires or ground faults this is simply a computer related malfunction and during the malfunction it does not throw a dtc for a check engine light so there's for a tech to scan.

First issue is back racetrack lenses is full of water causing bulbs to blow out. Secondly, and most scarey was driving at 50 mph and car starts making loud noises on dash(that alone scarey enough to create a crash)but the looses power and barely can steer vehicle to side of rt. 27,then started back up. I am a single mom of 2 boys,(one which I rely on this vehicle to transport to many doctor appointments. )last thing I need is a horrible accident. Please listen to all these complaints as if it were your family and try to address the safety of your consumers.

I had stopped at a stop sign and attempted to turn left. As soon as I took my foot off brake & onto gas, car completely stopped and shut off, leaving the car in the middle of the intersection. It was raining & similar has happened twice before during rain. Both previous times though, all electrical systems would work but I would have to wait about 15 minutes until car would restart. This time however, nothing was working, not even hazard flashers. Every time I tried restarting, dashboard lights would blink randomly. I took the battery to be tested, which tested fine. It has now been 3 days and car will not restart, same lighting issues when ever I have the key in the ignition, and nothing electrical is working including the key to unlock the doors remotely.

I am original owner and love my Durango but since I have owned it I cannot drive in rain. The vehicle sputters and dies and check engine light comes on. I found several places online of people with same complaint and the issue is the original cowl. I looked and mine does not have a taller ridge around the wiper bolts or a ridge to divert the water from running into my engine. I need the 2nd generation cowl that was improved part #55362453ak our family always buys Dodge, my husband has the 1500 truck as well as my daughter. I don't understand why Dodge has not put a recall out on this issues that so many are complaining about. I have taken my Durango several times to the service dept. And they could never find the problem but online after seeing everyone with same issue and how they are repairing I know I need this part. I ran water directly over the windshield and as it went over the existing cowl it did indeed dump into my engine and started sputtering and shut off. I tried to find the part but they are costing $180 with shipping and another $130 to have installed. I need this part like so many other Dodge owners and there should have been a recall for this ongoing issue. It is not safe for us because the vehicles stall in traffic and we have to avoid collisions with other drivers as well as creating traffic jams. I have to keep my vehicle parked under a roof to avoid rain and I cannot drive when it is raining. This has been an ongoing issues since I have owned from 2004 to present.
Vehicle cuts off while driving or want start at all without a jump off check engine light is on.

It switches into 4 high and 4 low all by its self. The vehicle can be off for hours and it still will do it. The scary thing is it will shift like that while delivering as well. Very dangerous, and lucky there was not another vehicle either coming towards me or behind me, cuz I lost control of the vehicle and I an sure a incoming car would of kill everyone. This needs to be fix. There is hound to be a law suit and I read three is alot of other and you people know it. . This will be on you people,.

This is the 3rd time in the past 3 months I've been taking this vehicle to service for different service issues. The most recent one is the dash and whipers started going crazy, a sudden smell of burnt wires/electric burn. The vehicle shut down while in motion locking the steering wheel and the gear shifter didn't want to engage. I tried starting the vehicle but it wouldn't start. The vehicle is not comunicating with the starting key. The vehicle got towed to the deelsrship and after two days they called me back saying that the vehicle is not comunicating with the tipm (totally integrated power module) therefor the can't make a diagnosis. They will have to check each wire one by one abd that check up is going to cost 4 hours of work at a cost of approximately $400 before they can run a diagnosis.
This is the 3rd time that while driving my engine shut off! the repair shop "fixed" the issue but the day I drove home it died again while driving and I had it towed to dealership service department. The repair lasted maybe 6 months? the engine died again while driving to work. The service extended warranty is giving me the run around about providing a rental and covering the repairs. I cannot be driving a vehicle that shuts down while driving! what if this happens while going 70 mph to work in austin?! I'm not wrecking and dieing because of a lemon car with safety issues.

Takata recall. Vehicle do not start, and check engine light came on. I took it to o'reilly's auto parts and connected the machine and give me the following errors: p2122, u1110, u11bc, u0100, u0101, and u1120 reference to the communication to tcm, and pcm with the vehicle. I also took my vehicle for a software recall with the pcm.
The power steering has gone out. It fully went out while driving into a parking lot from a highway exit. The truck started making sounds and will not turn now. The vehicle has only 60,000 miles. I have seen where other Dodge and ram vehicles are having similar issues where the power steering has completely gone out as mine has. With the electronic steering system every time I turn the wheel you hear a screeching and electronic or being sound (as if an electrical device has failed). I started to notice a dull or numb steering feeling to the vehicle which now has progressed into unable to use one bit. Fiat Chrysler has informed me that this is not covered under an extended warranty. We read that similar Dodge, Chrysler and ram vehicles in our year range have been affected by this as well. It's not realistic for someone whom is still paying for a vehicle to now be required to pay $3,000+ in repairs to fix this vehicle.

Vehicle turns off when driving. Vehicles losses complete electricity/power while driving.
While operating vehicle (street, dry, day, speed approx. 30-40) abs fault lights and brake warning light illuminated. When vehicle was parked would not restart or disengage park. After waiting 5 hours vehicle started with check engine light illuminated. On drive to dealer for service check engine light turned off, abs lights then illuminated and on parking vehicle at dealer it would not engage transmission. Dealer incorporated recalls u65 update pcm and u06 autopark functionality. Abs module placed on order and dealer returned vehicle as fit for use 10 October 2018. After driving approx. 10 miles with abs lights illuminated and parking for 6 hours vehicle restarted and behaved normally for . 5 mile down entrance ramp to limited access highway. Abs lights illuminated, brake red light and check engine lights illuminated, vehicle slipped from gear and would not reengage. Transmission would not shift from park and all attempts to restart engine unsuccessful. Vehicle towed to dealer.
Key fhob's have not been working for a while. Replace battery still not working. Now my shift motor on the transfer case is randomly shifting and locking in 4wd high. This happens while driving down the road. It happens while parked in the parking lot then when you go to drive hard to turn or get out of 4wd. When it locks in 4wd it is nearly impossible to back up. It doesn't seem to matter whether you're parked driving on city streets or on the highway. However, when it happen it can lead to inability to steer and control the vehicle. This is very dangerous and can also lead to substantial costly repairs from being in 4wd and not on the correct surface. Reviewing many on-line forums I'm finding that there are several others that are experiencing the same issue. Although there have been many attempt to correct the problem there seems to be an unwillingness to help or diagnose the issue. Many repairs have been done and has not resolved the issue or temporarily fixs it and then right back to the same issue.
I am filing a complaint or the people handling the recall reimbursement. I sent it in on sept 7th and now 90 days later, 12 calls, put on hold for 30 mins each, and no one knowing anything. Still no answer on my refund. Was told on day 88 that they needed something else and now no one can ever answer what it is they need. Supposedly the ck is cut but not mailed and it has been like that since Nov. I also sent in paper work for my pcm which they were not able to find and I just gave up on that 1500 dollar repair. My pcm has went out several times and its only when something goes out on my car. However I am trying to get the problem solved on getting my refund for the recall first. It has been a nightmare with Dodge. Never talk to more people that placed you on hold and do not know anything. Please help they just give you the run around.

For months now, I have had to complain to my Dodge dealer where I purchased my 2013 Dodge Durango and get it serviced about how it suddenly stalls while driving. I have associated it with hitting a bump such as a pothole or going over railroad tracks and it will die out and I have to put it in park. It will then start right back up. It has happened on city streets as well as highways. No codes are showing up and battery and alternator check out fine. Cables all have a good connection and fuses are said to be good. I get told "have to wait until it gets worse" or "you'll have to leave it with us so we can drive it and wait for it to do it" but this is my only vehicle and it may do it numerous times one day and will never do it again over the next month. It's random. I have noticed there was an alternator recall on 2011-14 yr makes of the Durangos but my VIN shows mine is clear and the fuel pump relay recall has been fixed. Something is definitely not right.
I have taken my truck in for all the recalls and now having trouble with power steering leakage and the system not staying cooled. The truck does not stay cool when driving the rpm goes above 3 at the speed of 60 miles per hour. The power steering leakage was told to me on the oil change done 4/2018.
The last recall that was performed was the p54 fuel relay. I believe the problem is somewhere in the entire electrical system. The reason I suspect this is because the vehicle has lots of intermittent problems. For example, the alarm goes off randomly for no reason since I purchased the vehicle, power locks open on their own, vehicle has difficulty starting at times and then starts right up most of the time, and all without a warning or error code on the dashboard. The most recent problem almost killed me and my family this morning as the vehicle turned off while driving and almost caused an accident, again no error codes or warnings. An investigation should be opened because this is extremely dangerous as the vehicle can turn off at any moment and without warning.
I leased my car 2018 Dodge Durango , I had it for a week and a half and then it started to malfunction. The screen on my car has been rebooting for about a week now leaving me with no radio, gps, back up camera, and all other emergency funxtions that come with with system. I got the car because of its radio and system. Now I have a $50,000 car and I cant drive it but I still have to pay at the end of the month. That is not right and I need some sort of compensation. This is ridiculous.
Takata recall. Recall for the alternator. I was driving on a very busy high way 77south speed limit 65 mph with my family n the vehicle when my vehicle suddenly started slowing down and I was unable to steer . My car had completely shut off nothing electrical worked. It put my family and I in a very dangerous situation with out any warning. And now I had to buy a brand new battery.
On November 24, 2017 car purchased from pinellas auto brokers, inc. Located at 4600 66th street north, st. Petersburg, florida. The next morning, November 25, 2017,car was taken for oil change and inspection. Was told the vehicle would need frame restoration and then apply for a salvage title after inspection, none of which was disclosed at time of purchase. Salesperson assured me that no vehicles come to the lot with any major damage, only minor issues. Per mechanic, not road worthy and is outside mechanical limits; not only a danger to the passengers, but other drivers as well and unsafe to drive. I do not feel safe driving in this car with my 2 children (ages 3 & 6). My mother paid for the car via debit card. Would like to know what recourse I have for selling an unsafe vehicle.

Recall has been issued but no parts are available - this has been in limbo for some time now. The vehicle has been having a lot of trouble the past two months - stalling, jumping, trouble shifting gears on its own, shutting off at stops, hard to make a smooth transition into different speed limits. I am concerned for my safety and have not heard of when the parts will be available.
My car is 16 months old, leased for 3 years. Electrical malfunctions such as camera not working properly, lights not turning off inside the car, software in the car malfunctioning and creating random error messages on the screen, and turn signals burning out within the first year of the life of the car happened very often. Were reported 2-3 times to the same dealership but no record was made for us at the dealership, although mechanics showed us how to manually reset the computer ourselves, so we didn't have to keep coming back in for it. This time the car came to a dead stop a few seconds after making a left turn. Wheels locked up at about 20mph speed. The impact of the stop caused me and my two toddlers to fly forward since the seatbelts did not lock. My 3 year old was in a convertible car seat, she scoot forward a little bit, but my son was in a toddler booster and flew forward down the middle isle all the way to my front seat. All the lights in the car flashed on and off repeatedly. Car was beeping for a good 2-3 minutes straight. None of the buttons worked! doors were locked and would not open, the windows locked and would not react to the buttons. Took me a good few minutes to get the car back to functioning, and I drove it immediately down the street to the dealership where I got this car. After 2 days of the car being there, we were told that they had found nothing, replicated nothing, and that the computer recorded no codes. We contacted Dodge corporate, but were told that nothing will be done for us (besides pay the 2 days of rental car fee while they looked at our car). Dodge told us car was "functioning as designed" although they can not guarantee its safe to drive, they don't see anything wrong with it. Told us that we would have to go through this 2 more times before they can open a claim again. Refused to swap the car out, told us nothing they can do.
Vehicle stalls intermittently with out warning at any speed including in park and while idling. When this occurs power steering is lost, gauges freeze in last position, no check engine light. Vehicle starts right back up without hesitation. During my 7 minute drive to work it may still once or not at all up to 7 times. Vehicle is currently sitting at a Dodge dealership garage where they are unable to diagnose it due to vehicle not giving and codes even with it stalling for them multiple times. I already replaced the crankshaft position sensor and it didn't fix the issue. My options are take my car back still stalling or replace the pcm $500-$900 which may not be the problem then I'm out the money. I guess fingers crossed since no one at this garage has ever seen a vehicle not throw a code with them witnessing the issue.

The first two incidents occurred while the vehicle was parked and idle. The vehicle would not turn on and all system indications were being alerted on the dashboard screen (power steering off, park assist off, check engine light, etc. ). The third incident occurred while driving the vehicle down a main thoroughfare. The vehicle started "beeping" with a red led flashing in the dash. The dashboard screen was alerting me to put the vehicle in park. Once in park, the vehicle shut off and I was unable to restart it. I have video showing the indications if someone needs to reach out to me. It is at a dealership service department for the third time, involving the same issues.

Driving about 1 mile and air conditioner by itself went to a lower speed, kept driving for about another 10 miles and proceeded to get on freeway when did so, drivers seatbealt flashing that was not buckled then all the lights on the dashboard were flashing and the air completely shut off. It was hot so proceeded to row down windows and was not able to, almost like lost power. . Got off freeway ( thank god) and got to a stop in a safe place, smelt something burning, turned off car when did so windshield wipers went crazy and then saw smoke coming from engine. Waited for aaa in mean time tried to start car back up and wouldn't budge clicking sound (like altenator) trying to start car then it completely shut off, completely dead!!!.
On August 19th I was driving with my kids when all of a sudden all the warning lights along with my seatbelt warning lights started to go on and off. My radio and my control panel started to turn on and off on its own. Also the ac stopped working, it sounded like it was running but no air flow would come out. Then I began to have no acceleration. We researched that there will be a recall on the alternators for my 2011 Durango but because nothing has been released Dodge told us we are on our own. This could have caused an accident and I had no warning about what could happen. This is a big safety concern especially when this is our family car and my kids are with me in the vehicle.
My Dodge Durango stopped working one week ago. At that time I looked online to find the alternator recall but that they would be notifying people at a later date. For a week they had my car and replaced the alternator knowing Dodge had bad alternators and made me purchase a battery. My car again died the same day after my partner left the lot. After it was again towed for the second time they found that my car was now under the recall even though I had already told them there was an issue with my car. The website states there is no solution to the problem and now I am stuck with a broken car with my car value dropping significantly. Dodge needs to refund me the money I have already spent plus mileage and gas communiting to and from viera to titusville florida driving my partner to work and picking my son up from school and going back and forth and emotional distress. This company should be ashamed of themselves. I am now stuck with a rental car and left in the dark as to what is happening to my car. In a separate incident I paid out almost 1,000 to go out to my car at the dealership to find it did not work. At that time the man walked inside and came back out with a piece for the fuel relay recall. I again want to know why this Dodge dealership continues to charge me and play me for a fool. Dodge should be embarrassed. How does someone now check for recalls before operating on a vehicle?.
Vehicle was parked at work. I got off work came to vehicle entered and started engine after about 1 minute, a buzzing sound came from under the dash, then I began to smell smoke like burning wires or something electrical under the dash. Then I saw smoke coming from the engine compartment (under the vehicles front hood). By this time about 1 minute had passed with the engine idling in park. I opened the hood and looked in to see that the alternator was smoking and red hot inside. I tried to turn off the engine, but no response from the ignition button, then crazy electrical things happened with lights dash wipers and etc. , then the engine died, and there was not any power or battery everything was dead. I am glad I was not out on the freeway when this happened, or had the family with me. Vehicle was towed to auburn transmission and auto repair. Ph. (253)737-5913 it is my belief that the alternator went to a dead short and killed the battery so fast, it was amazing to see. I thought there would be some kind of fuseable link to prevent such a thing from occurring. That is a most dangerous design, fire prone.
On July 3 I was driving our vehicle on a country road when the battery light came on shortly after pulling out of the driveway. We had been on vacation and figured the car had sat for 10 days without being driven and just needed a charge. The light indicator came and went before the car started doing weird things: hazard lights, windshield wipers, seatbelt light, etc. The car quickly lost power and everything locked up leaving us stranded on the side of a gravel road. We couldn't even release the keys from the ignition. There was a burning smell and the car had to be towed. The alternator went out, in turn burning up the ems system. This part is on national back order. We have been without a car for over two weeks now. The recall for the alternator was for a smaller amp. Ours is a 220amp. They are telling us production of the part may take up to 10-12 more days.
The car has always "raddled" since I first bought it. I was told the problem was the tires and that they'd been rotated and should be fixed. I bought the car in June 2017 and have had to replace all 4 tires since despite my many complaints. Yesterday, the vehicle shifted gears while driving, horn started honking uncontrollably until I had to remove the fuse, the screens all blanked out and flashed warnings, headrests voluntarily folding. . . All while my 3 children were in the car during a hurricane. The vehicle was in motion on a city street.
