Three problems related to tank assembly have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
!999 Dodge Grand Caravan. One gas tank support strap fell off driving on smooth pavement, 2nd strap disintegrated with slight manual twist, got it back onto driveway & supported tank before replacing both. Have both parts same as reported; Ford pickups recall.
A leak was discovered in the fuel tank assembly at the point where the fuel filling tube connects to the fuel tank. Upon noticing the leak, I contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle about 3 months prior. They replaced the entire fuel tank assmbly as well as a seal. I feel that this failure is a manufacturer defect because the vehicle is in otherwise excellent condition and there was no physical damage of any kind to the fuel tank assembly that could have caused such a failure. This is a serious safety/fire hazard and we are fortunate that the leak was discovered before any fire or injuries occurred. I do not feel that I should have been responsible for payment to repair this type of defect. I have contacted daimler chrylser corporation and they currently have no recall information on my vehicle. However, I did find a recall on the 1996 Dodge caravan with a similar problem. The campaign number was 98v18500. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide in this investigation.
Dealer claims gasket was not installed in fuel line. Gasket is not available separately, so entire tank assembly must be replaced. Dealer opted to squirt sealer into line for repair. Driver's side sliding door rattles badly. Dealer adjusted striker, door got worse. Technician claims rattle is normal.
