Should a vehicle owner continue to keep their older vehicles the headlamps on many vehicles have plastic faces that become etched over time making it impossible to drive the vehicle at night without putting on the high beams. Hence night driving has become hazardous for these vehicles and to others. The kits to clean them do not work. The entire headlamp on the vehicles need to be replaced to correct this problem and that costs hundreds of dollars. It is not so simple as to just replace a plastic cover. The vehicle manufacturers should replace them free of charge. Plastic doesn't remain clear and visible specifically in the northeast where salt and sand are applied to the roads for winter driving. Highway driving is havec on plastic also. Are the stats up for night driving accidents???.
Over the past 5 years, the serpentine belt continously slips off on my vehicle. When relacing the belt, it was noticed that the tension pulley appeared to be bent. Replaced tension pulley and ensure all pulleys lined up. New belt placed on, but when starting the vehicle, it immediately begins to slip off again. Over the past 3 years alone, have replaced upwards of 5 serpentine belts and the tension pulley on my vehicle.
I was told by Dodge that we have only had one recall on our vehicle. Your records show 6 and we have never gotten anything.
1. Nothing 2. The fan belt on our 2000 Grand Caravan has needed to be replaced minimum of seven times in the past two and half years 3. Our mechanic has fixed the problem, without charging for his labour, all seven times. He has been in contact with Chrysler. After the first couple of fan belt problems, they sent him a kit that repairs fan belts. We still have the problem. Chrysler denies any faulty mechanics on their part. We have the past three faulty fan belts.
Air conditioning system had to be fixed within 3 years of having the car- which was bought brand new in 2000. We spent over 2k dollars to fix a huge leak and repair the two systems in the car. I (since 2005) am now seeing that the air stops cooling if I idle or we drive for too long, it will no longer blow out the front nor be cool. . . It blows out the top (like the defroster) and is not cooled.
