general problems of the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

The failure recurred several times only while it was raining. The contact also stated that the clock spring in the steering wheel failed, which caused the horn to fail and the front driver's air bag to become inoperable. I have called two local dealers that have both said I am covered under the above recall, however, the required part has no date for re-stock. Interestingly, I can find the part widely available on the internet. So I am driving a vehicle with a non-functioning air bag, that will not pass inspection. So I see it as Chrysler has found a simple way to avoid correcting a mandated recall simply by not having the part available to their dealers. Is there anything that can be done about this?.

The contact's insurance company will not reimburse the contact because the manufacturer will not provide a letter stating that the crash caused the clockspring to fail, not the safety recall. While driving consumer noticed that srs light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the clock spring needed to be replaced.

The clockspring and steering column in our 200 Dodge Grand Caravan has been replaced several times, including several times under warranty, yet still rattles and makes noises. I have been advised by the zone office that it is indeed a safety problem (relating to the airbag) and they recommend I continue to get it fixed each time it breaks.

My wife was involved in an accident on a 4 lane road and was going approximately 40-45 mph when she hit another vehicle with almost no braking involved. Neither the drive or passenger airbag deployed. This was a major selling point when we purchased this vehicle since we would be using it to transport our family. If these do not work then the Chrysler corporation should do everything to the best of it's ability to ensure that anyone that buys their products should get what they have paid for.
