Traveling on the interstate for a couple of continuous hours with the cruise control set at a constant speed and mild hills. When I went to press on the brake pedal on a level area of freeway the cruise control did not want to disengage. After applying very strong force to the brake pedal for a second or two (and being in shock because the vehicle was not slowing and I was fast approaching a large truck in my lane) I finally disengaged it by punching the off button on the steering column. If the cruise control had not disengaged or if traffic would have been heavier an accident may have happened at the legal speed limit of 75 mph in a remote area with all of my family aboard heading on vacation.
When the cruise control is engaged, and I pass another vehicle, the speed of my car will drop 3-5 mph below the preset speed after I have passed the vehicle, and then will increase to the preset speed. I have contacted the manufacturer and the dealer and was told today that the manufacturer is aware of this problem but feels repairs are not necessary.
