5 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2018

I was driving on a busy main city road at night, traveling around 35 mph when my van shut off and the wipers and horn went crazy. I lost all power steering and brakes. Headlights also cut out. I struggled to get to the side of the road and into a parking lot. The front wipers stopped when I turned the key off, but the back wiper and horn continued for about 10 min. I did not have tools to disconnect the battery. Suddenly there was a flash of all the lights in the car and everything seemed to be back to normal with the exception of the check engine light appearing on the dash. I was able to restart the vehicle and drive another half mile to my home. This is the first time this has happened while driving, that I have lost all engine power and steering, it is not the first time the van has acted out. Wipers will suddenly start moving when I am driving or the horn with suddenly sound and radio will cut out. I have also had it go crazy with windshield wipers moving, horn honking, locks malfunctioning and fluid sprayed all over the car when I unlocked it. My wife once had my kids trapped inside of the care for 10 mins until I could I drive over and disconnected the battery. I have been told it is the tipm acting up. It has happened more than 10 times. I do not trust the vehicle. I have read about many more instances online. This could cause an accident if it was in rush hour or on a busier road.

6 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2017

In June had the tipm replaced as it was causing the horn to go off and stay on, the wipers to go off and stay on and other electical issues. These symptoms returned in the last month (I was traveling during the return of the issues) and this time, about two weeks ago, while doing 55mph down a secondary highway, the car's horn and wipers came on and the car completely shut off - the engine shut down. The dealer replaced the tipm again.

7 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2017

Several times the horn began sounding a long blare, the windshield wipers came on, the washer fluid started spraying, the doors locked, and the headlights and rear lights began flashing, all lasting several minutes. It began while driving and continued after I stopped the car, turned it off, and removed the key. The symptoms worsened about a week later when all of the above happened as well as the gear shift indicator lights began flashing, the stability control light came on, the check engine light came on, the bas light came on, and then the car shifted itself into neutral. This has happened several times and has become more frequent.

Driving, parked, starting, and on its own sitting in garage. The electrical system goes crazy intermitently. Horn, wipers (front and rear), door locks, and wiper fluid engage. While driving the power steering and brakes fail. Very dangerous problem and needs attention with the amount of complaints I am seeing on the internet on forums for this model of van.

Vehical's horn will sound, windchill wipers go off and spray washer fluid, and doors will lock themselves. This will happen whether the van is running or not. Started 1 and half years ago. Taken it to dealership twice and they cant find anything wrong with it.

12 Horn Assembly problem

13 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2016

After parking my car, after about 5 minutes, the horn started blowing, the wipers, front and rear started running and the washers started spraying. The door locks started locking and unlocking on their own. The car, when started had no dash lights, or gauge function. The drivers electric seat started adjusting itself. Radio came on and off on its own. Car acted like it was possessed. I had to unhook the battery to make everything stop. Please note, the car was parked in my driveway when all of this occurred.

14 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2016

Tipm module malfunctioning. Wipers and horn will go off randomly, transmission will disengage at the same time. Power steering shuts off as well during episodes while driving! I have had to stop on the freeway with my kids in the car and restart the car.

15 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

Frequently will not start-have to raise hood & smack top of black box & then it will start, will go "crazy" while parked with no keys in ignition-horn honks, lights flash on & off, wipers go & fluid sprays-again have to smack box to make it stop. Between 5/2/16 & 5/18/16, while driving down the road, four times the motor has shut itself off, horn has begun honking, wipers go, fluid sprays, running lights go off. ** it twice on 5/18/16! thank god, was going slowly down a side street-again had to raise hood, smack on top of that black box-fuses and sensors must be in there-and it stopped acting crazy and restarted. My husband has been driving it as I refuse to!! very surprised and concerned that there has not been recall as this seems to be a very frequent issue with these vans-wish I had never bought mine!.

16 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2016

My van was sitting in my driveway. I used the key fob to attempt to unlock the doors and instead the horn started honking, wipers going, washer fluid spraying and lights flashing. It did not stop and the doors would not unlock. I had to use the hidden key in the key fob to manually unlock the door to open the hood and disconnect the battery. I reconnected it and attempted to drive it to my mechanic. It stalled after about 50 feet. I ended up being able to drive it to the mechanic four days later. My mechanic said it had 6 recalls on it (which I was not notified of) and needed the tipm replaced, which was not a part of a recall. He said Chrysler would not allow him to buy the part and I would have to take it directly to the dealer. He said the part is $780 and does not include labor! I cannot afford this and I need this vehicle! I have three kids! I did some research online and saw that this part on my van was a part of a lawsuit. When they settled the lawsuit, they did not include the 2008 Grand Caravan. This is the same exact faulty part that is in the other vehicles that are covered by the lawsuit/recall! there is absolutely no reason I should have to pay for any of this.

17 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Timp failurtes have resulted in incidents with random horn, alarm, headlight, door lock, panel and windshield wipers activities.

18 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2016

All the electronics in my car started going crazy. My windshield wipers (both fwd and aft) started, while the washer fluid was being dispensed, the car horn was blaring, and the electronic door locks were very rapidly being cycled. While driving on the highway the car stalled. Luckily, I was able to pull over to the side of the road without being hit or causing an accident. The Dodge dealership diagnosed it as a bad totally intergrated power module (tipm) and replaced it. Apparently, it distributes electrical power to all the systems in the vehicle. So, when the car stalled it was due to power being cut off to the fuel pump. I could have easily been killed, due to the sudden loss of engine power or another electrical component such as the air bag, brake, or traction system could have been affected.

19 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2015

Steering wheel electronics (horn, cruise control, etc. ) no longer working. Airbag light is on.

20 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2015

I have had my car in many times for horn blowing, wipers and washers going, all lights going off at night ( I could have been killed) blower not working, car not starting, doors not closing. It has cost me several thousand dollars in repairs and the last time I was told the tipm computer would fix everything. The car computer was already replaced. The car was on the highway at 60mph and also at stop lights. This all happened over several years.

21 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2015

Driving down the highway, engine stalled, horn was blaring with no way to turn it off, wipers at full speed and couldn't stop them, car wouldn't start back up. Engine light and gas light(not empty) are now on.

The front and back wipers came on. The back wiper fluid was squirting. The horn came on and stayed on. The interior and exterior lights turned on and the accelerator stopped working. This occurred twice on the day listed. The second time, I disconnected the battery and the problem would not stop. Also, with both terminals of the battery disconnected, I was able to start the car up.

My 08 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt had random electrical malfunctions including intermittent activation of horns, front wipers, rear wipers, front washer fluid spray, rear washer fluid spray and door locks they were stopped by turning off the ignition and starting again. They worked ok then. It happened twice same thing again in one month. The vehicle was taken to Dodge service department and had diagnostics which were no codes stored or active and no updates found.

28 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

As others have documented, whether at a stand still or driving at varying speeds, horn starts beeping on its own along with wipers going and washer fluid spraying. After the event, front a/c control knob starts controlling the back vents or does nothing at all. No center buttons (defrost, a/c, etc. . ) work - it's like they're all dead. Just purchased vehicle. Will probably return as a lemon.

29 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2015

I was parked waiting for the light to change for 3 minutes when out of nowhere the lights start flashing, horn blaring, wipers running, and could not get it to stop. This has happened intermittently five or six times with varying degrees of length (2 seconds to 30 minutes I took it to gas station and they remove the fuses and charge me $50 told me to take it to the dealer interesting to see that there are others with the exact same symptoms.

30 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2015

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving at 55 mph, the horn activated independently and the windshield wiper and washer became engaged. The vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after five minutes. The vehicle was previously repaired under the NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the repair failed to remedy the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,950.

31 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2015

We started smelling an odd smell coming from the a/c vents on 7/4/15. After a few days the smell went away and we thought nothing of it. 7/8/15 multiple lights show up after starting the van. . Abs, brakes, traction control, etc. Two days later these lights went away. 7/18/15 we got into the van and a/c in the back was blowing, but the front wasn't blowing at all. Turned it on while driving and it worked again. The next day when I went to work the blower was not blowing anymore, but worked on the way home. After that second day it has consistently worked. This morning when I hit the unlock button on the keyfob the horn started honking, windshield wipers went on, and wiper fluid was squirting out. I got into the van and started it and everything stopped. I drove the 20 minute drive home from work without any problems. Later that day I got back into the van to drive and everything was still normal except I had a check engine light so I planned on getting that checked while I was out. I was parked at a residence with the van still on when the same horn/wiper/wiper fluid problem started up again. I turned off the van and it kept going. I pulled fuses out for the horn/wipers/fluid and could still hear things in the box clicking. This time the door locks were locking by themselves and the lights (both inside and out) were turning off and on. I drove to the closes auto parts store and was told there were 2 codes coming up. It gave me p0685 (asd relay circuit failure) and p0883 (tcm power input high). After doing some online research it seems I have to have my tipm replaced and this seems to be a common problem. I'm frustrated at the amount of money I keep having to put into this van. Right now my van is sitting in front of my house with the battery disconnected until I can take it in to have it looked at. I'm really lucky this didn't happen on my drive to/from work.

32 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2015

My wife was outside of our house without the van keys and the horn started blaring and the wiper pump started spraying fluid. The wipers were shuttering. Several days prior the headlights stopped working. I disassembled the tipm and reassembled it to restore the headlights. I had hoped that I wouldn't see the headlight flashing/horn/wipers/wiper fluid spraying behavior again but it followed my investigation of the tipm. I have one on order - this is a safety issue, I've read that this can happen while driving and the van can shutoff while driving. I called Dodge who referred me to their service department who wants payment to diagnose this known problem with the tipm. I've heard that there is a class action lawsuit for this problem as well.

33 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

Dangerous to drive dangerous to park in garage. Day 1: wipers, horn went on at 55 mph. After 5 miles it stopped. Next day everything was dead. Battery replaced. Next day, horn/wipers go on when engine is started. Eventually stopped. Mechanic pulled horn fuse. Day 3 : early am opened door, windshield wipers go on and stay on. I start car (big mistake), now I can not put car in gear, can not turn off engine or wipers. I just let it run, very dangerous in an attached garage, I was afraid to open hood or attempt to disconnect battery in a running car, eventually engine shut itself off, later wipers went off. I fear gassing my family or burning us down if it starts in the night. What more will happen if I drive it ? a few years ago, on highway, warning lights came on and engine stopped and vehicle was totally inoperable towed to Dodge, they replaced a computer module (warranty). Now I read it may be a very costly computer module again and that I am in danger.

34 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2015

My wife walk into the garage and the van horn started blaring. The windshield wipers were shuttering and the windshield washer pump was spraying fluid continually. The lights were flashing.

35 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2014
