Owners/service Manual problems of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt driver side sliding door is stuck I locked position. It will not respond to any of the dedicated buttons like the fob, the master door unlock, the overhead door opener or even manually.

Electric door locks and air bag system have stopped functioning normally. When you first start driving, the electric door locks are supposed to lock at 15 mph. Sometimes they will not lock until you are going 30 mph or 45 mph. Note that all three speeds are multiples of 15. After the doors eventually lock themselves, all of the door locks in the vehicle will unlock without warning as you are driving. This can happen at any speed - 20 mph, 70 mph, whatever. Once they unlock, the vehicle will continue "unlocking" the doors repeatedly every 5- 10 seconds continuously. The front doors can be manually locked by pushing down the door lock button located at the top rear section of the door. As soon as you manually lock the doors, they will unlock again and continue to unlock the doors every 5 - 10 seconds as you are driving the car. In addition, the air bag warning light in the dash lights up when you start the car and stays continuously lit as you are driving it. I consider these dangerous defects. It is unsafe to drive, and my Dodge dealership told me there no "open recalls" for my vehicle. This vehicle has only 86,000 miles on it.

The passenger rear sliding door is stuck closed and will not open. The door makes a sound when you press the dome panel button and the key fob buttons but the door is still locked shut. I have attempted to open it from the inside and the outside also by holding the interior manual unlock latch while trying to open the door it won't open. I see this a safety issue as I have children and often times we are carpooling. The kids are not able to get out of the vehicle using all doors accessible to them. When pulling up into the pick up lines at school, I have to let the kids out of the driver side sliding door which is placing them facing moving traffic while getting out and having to walk around the van.

My van was sitting in my driveway. I used the key fob to attempt to unlock the doors and instead the horn started honking, wipers going, washer fluid spraying and lights flashing. It did not stop and the doors would not unlock. I had to use the hidden key in the key fob to manually unlock the door to open the hood and disconnect the battery. I reconnected it and attempted to drive it to my mechanic. It stalled after about 50 feet. I ended up being able to drive it to the mechanic four days later. My mechanic said it had 6 recalls on it (which I was not notified of) and needed the tipm replaced, which was not a part of a recall. He said Chrysler would not allow him to buy the part and I would have to take it directly to the dealer. He said the part is $780 and does not include labor! I cannot afford this and I need this vehicle! I have three kids! I did some research online and saw that this part on my van was a part of a lawsuit. When they settled the lawsuit, they did not include the 2008 Grand Caravan. This is the same exact faulty part that is in the other vehicles that are covered by the lawsuit/recall! there is absolutely no reason I should have to pay for any of this.

My vehicle engine light has been on for over one year and a half. Tried fixes over and over and it still comes up again stating "misfiring, coil" etc. . . . . . . It started affecting the fobiks to my vehical over a year ago and I have been replacing my fobiks or just using them manually since then. I received my vehicle recall and tried to schedule my recall today. The dealship states: they have already scheduled all the parts they currently have for customers which is 9. They also stated that I would have to keep calling in to scheudle an appointment randomly because they will not get a part in for my vehicle until one has been used that would fit my vehicle. But they don't know when and or which part is appropriate for my vehicle so they can't tell me when to call and make an appt. The dealer stated they don't know any other way to assist right now. I will have to continue to call in weekly randomly not know if the part I need is avaible or has already again been scheduled for another customer and the cycle for each part is 14 days. If they only have 9 parts of which they don't know if it is for my vehicle or not how will I know when to call in or if someone beats me to my part or when I will be able to get my vehicle fixed? what a process. And right when it is time to travel in my vehicle. Not good at all! need help resolving this issue.

I have trouble with the ignition . When trying to start the vehicle sometimes it will just click. The module has been replaced, still have problem. Sometimes the key fob sticks and engine keeps trying to start. I then turn the ignition off manually. Starter has been replaced already too at my expense. I have replaced the strut and spring assemblies, but I get rough ride still. When turning I get a snapping sound in the steering.

Multiple problems with 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan se, van was special ordered at advantage Chrysler Jeep and Dodge, des plaines IL from factory with mygig ves, we took delivery on Feb 2008, our sales guy quit before we even got the van. Sad. _____________ first problem was within first 6 mos. Loud whistle noise coming from windshield on warm and hot days at 60+ mph , dealer resealed but problem still same. __________________ brakes had to be redone after 14,000. This is a common problem, judging by all of the complaints, I was even more pissed off after getting a $500 bill and a dopey explanation from the shop manager at advantage Chrysler Jeep and Dodge. We took it in for a break inspection, they did all the work without checking with me first. _________________ the next thing to stop working was the passenger side sliding door auto lock. It no longer responds to electric or remote switch. We have to lock and unlock manually. They suspected a harness but did not have one in stock, 2 months for delivery of part, I had no time to go back. _________________ just recently oct 2009 during a rain storm, the wipers stopped to function in any position, the wipers were turned on while the car was running, had to pull over shut off/on, then they worked fine. __________________ spouse also reported that radio stopped working, no audio or video temporarily, it also started to work after turning off then on of the key. _________________ we are !@#$% at Chrysler / Dodge for putting out a car like that. We buy only american built cars to support our economy, and we get !@#$% with countless repair bills. Get tour stuff together Chrysler / Dodge!!!!!!!.
