general problems of the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

I had a flat tire (drivers front). I parked on a level parking lot. I put bricks behind other tires to prevent movement. Next I loosened lug nuts, I then removed the spare and original equipment jack. I began jacking the car up with the jack in the area indicated for jacking by the instructions. The tire was off the ground. I was beginning to spin off the lug nuts when the car dropped with a brrrrrt sound. The main screw in the scissors jack pulled through the threaded nut on the end. The jack was still upright but the screw threads failed. No one was hurt but the potential is high for the jack to fail suddenly and without warning. Note the van was not occupied or in any way loaded. The second picture attempts to show the screw threads deformed after pulling through the nut.

Key stuck in the ignition does not turn properly.

My vehicle was put in park and about 10 minutes later it jolted backwards and hit a retaining wall in the driveway.

My van stalls when decelerating from highway speed to off ramp yield. I have taken to mechanics and dealer and spent too much money on not getting the problem fixed. I did some researched and noticed on the forums that this is an existing problem that has not resulting in a vehicle recall . The problem looks like it has to do with the tipm fuel relay. My van only has 142,000 miles on it , this is obviously a safety issue and should be handled by the auto maker, not having customers spend needless money on dealer recommended fixes that do not fix the problem. I just spent over 700 to have dealer recommended repairs of throttle body service and tune up and this did not resolve the issue. Why is it that as a consumer I need to do my own diagnosis when problem happened just this past weekend after dealer recommended solutions did not fix the problem! now my son is leaving in 3 days for school with the vehicle and I need to find a repair shop to try to fix the problem instead of you as the car company taking responsibility for a known issue.

Sliding door will not close at times without having to force it to close. Not sure if the senor has been affected, there is nothing by the door when this happens.

Dmv inspection 2/22/2019 10v-235 k14 safety power sliding door (10/2018) 14v-373 r03 safety wireless ignition node module (2/2019).

The air flow doesn't work properly. No matter what button I push the air flow is stuck on the face and the air on the driver's side blows out hot and the air on the passenger's side blows out cold. Because of this, the defroster doesn't work. This is a safety issue impairing visibility and "very" dangerous during bad weather.

Water leaks from the ac under the passenger dash. Other recalls site the ac drain and possible effect on a airbag sensor. My car has the same problem but appears to have no recall. Is there a recall and if not why? this leak happens whenever the ac is run for more than a few minutes. The dealer once cleaned the drain but said there was no recal. The problem has now returned.

I bought the van used and the drivers side passenger door will not close on its own I have to force it shut or leave the automatic button off and there are time it sticks as I am trying to open it I have small children in this vehicle at all times.

It said that my Grand Caravan did not have an open recall for the key & ignition cylinder, and the vehicle keeps telling us that I have a bad key and the vehicle wont start at times can you check into this.

Transmission gave out while driving gears wit shift lost emissions.

Instrumental panel dash lights come on and stay on while driving. Do not know how fast we are going or how much gas. All lights including abs as well. Several other families in my area have same van with same problem. Wipers also come on when they are off. The chrylser town & country has had instrumental panel problems that were part of a recall as well.

K31 notification. While driving on the interstate to visit family out of state, my ac blower motor stopped working and my floor on the front passenger and driver areas became very saturated. I brought my vehicle to an auto repair shop and they stated that the ac drain tube should be part of the k31 recall notification due to my vehicle being a 2009 Grand Caravan. The drain tube was rubber and the replacement part is supposed to be hard plastic. We received a safety recall notice reguarding the wireless ignition node on our vehicle. As the notice instructed I called the dealership upon receiving the notice. The service department told us they would let us know when they got the part to replace it. It has now been over a year and the dealership still does not have the part they need to fix the problem. They say they are waiting for the car manufacturer to send the part.

The driver door intermittently locks and will not unlock with the key. My wife has to climb out the passenger door as she cannot open the locked door by pulling the door handle which with a great deal of strength is the only way to open the dfrivers door.

Ro3/nhsta 14v-373 wireless ignition module I have been trying to schedule a replacement of the ingition model for monthws since the first recall notice was mailed. Recently I received a second and called the dealer who informed me that fiat Chrysler is only trickeling parts to them and suggested I call fca directly. I did that and learned that the consumer reps have no idea when parts will be available. My dealer is foster doge in middlebury, vermont.

Takata recall on tue, Dec 8, I took my van in to correct the recall regarding the wireless ignition node module. Billion of sioux falls sd would not fix it free of charge because they said they would have had to remove my remote start. They stated they could/would not reinstall it or replace it at their expense. The recall on my van was not completed.

I received notice of a recall on my Grand Caravan r03. I have been on a list for replacement of the ignition module since July 2015. I am having problems with the van starting. I have to flip the key 5-10 times to start it. Dodge is not supplying the part to the dealer ships. They have had more than enough time. I even contacted Dodge directly and they told me there was nothing they could do for me. The part number the dealership is waiting on is cbxzr036aa.

Manufacturer recall number: r03 the dealer in hawaii has not secured the replacement part for 6 months and we are still waiting for replacement.

Ignition switch that is under recall. . . . I've known about this for quite some time, yet whenever I ask dealer about it they tell me that the replacement parts have not arrived yet. I now have problems with the switch not turning off at times. I think Dodge is dragging their hind quarters on this recall. My dealer is mullane motors in lockport NY.

I was driving the van on a major road at 45-50 mph, when the engine cut out. Power steering was disabled, I was able to pull van off onto side street and restart. I don't know if fob switched to acc or off, I was just upset it stalled on major road. Per article I have read, fob can move out of place if ride is bumpy, well I live in michigan where pot holes are sometimes unavoidable. Road was bumpy that I was traveling on. I know their is a recall on van l25 for the ignition switch, I have since removed the fob from my key ring and will only drive with fob in ignition.

Received important safety recall for fobik on vehicle in late Sep 2014 (6 months ago). Fobik causes continued problems (not seating correctly, getting stuck in accessory mode, not allowing vehicle to start). Dealer can't repair due recall l25/NHTSA 14v-373 (they need the same part that remains, as of this date, 'unavailable'. How long does an 'important safety recall' get to languish before it is a priority for repair? 6 months certainly does not infer 'a safety priority'. Why issue a safety recall notice months before the remedy part is available to enable a repair? this seems a bit backwards.

Vehicle shut off while in motion; including locked steering wheel with full system shutt off.

The vehicle was parked on an incline, facing up, and put in park. The driver exited the vehicle and then reached back in to turn off and remove the keys. The vehicle started to roll back down the drive, hitting two other vehicles before the driver, who was hit by the open door, could get back in the vehicle and apply the brakes. It is unknown why the keys would have come out if the car was not in park, or why the car would switch from park to reverse without the keys in or a foot on the brake.

In October of 2013 I took my vehicle to my local Chrysler dealership explaining to them my car stalls when it comes to an incline in the road I'm talking mere inches, not climbing up gigantic hill. Since October it has continuously stalled out on me, to go so far as to just stopping at a red light. If I put my foot on the brake and began to slow down, the entire vehicle starts shaking and feels as though the tires are trying to grip the road and there is a jumping and jolting sensation. My car cuts off at least once a week since October. I've taken it to the dealership to run a diagnostic, but they can't find anything wrong with it. Of course they're willing to take the entire car apart and charge me for it but I can't afford that! what's happening to my vehicle is from a manufacture defect. I was so happy to see the news article on wed. Com today which is why I'm contacting you.

All the dash lights / electronics go off and come back on intermittently along with the windshield wipers turning on and off at the same time. The power doors do not work reliably either as they have closed randomly while open. It's very distracting while driving and we feel it puts us at risk of an accident, or worse, when it occurs. Dealership has problems diagnosing it do to the intermittent nature, but can pull off bunches of codes, when hooked up to their scan tool. However, none of the error codes point to what caused the problem, just that a problem has occurred. They replaced the tpim module, but that did not fix the problem and they have pretty much given up. .

Van has been having problems starting, it makes a clicking noise but the van won't turn on, yet all other electrical devices continue to work perfectly. After several attempts the van will eventually start, but other times we have had to leave it overnight parked due to it not started after trying for almost an hour. We replaced the battery, and the problem persisted. We took it to a Dodge dealership and the win module was replaced and a new key was ordered and reprogrammed at a cost of almost $1000! a few weeks after getting the van back the problem started again and once again left me (pregnant) and my 2 young children stranded in 101 degree temperature. A tech from the dealership met with us this morning to look at the van and suggested it might be the starter. We can't continue to purchase parts and pay for labor and yet the vehicle isn't working as it should. This is dangerous for a pregnant woman with a newborn on the way and two young children.

I was just starting driving after being at a stop. I used the window control that automatically rolls the window completely up. When the window reached the top, there was a loud popping noise. After that, the window started slowly sliding down on it's own. My husband disassembled the door and replaced the window regulator. Since that time (10 months ago), the same thing has happened a total of 3 times. The belief is that it is an electrical problem, making the computer system think that the window isn't up all the way (possibly a sensor not detecting that the window is completely up). The system then keeps trying to roll the window up more, snapping the cables connected to the regulator. Not only is this a nuisance, it is an expensive fix. It is also very distracting while driving and could cause an accident due to the loud noise when it breaks, as well as trying to keep your window from falling into your door while driving.

Unable to remove key fob from ignition, gets stuck in acc position.

The car for years just wont start. You turn the key and then nothing happens. It has been an ongoing issue for years and just happened again today on 3 separate trips. I have taken it to the dealership and nothing can be found. Also when backing out and turning the wheel, the car makes a grinding noise. Was told nothing can be done about that.
