36 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2012

I bought my Grand Caravan brand new. It is a 2010, I bought in 2011. I have had multiple issues with it. Over the weekend, the traction control came on (perfectly dry roads), the car stalled, I lost power steering, and it wouldn't move until I stopped, put the car in park, and restarted it. This has happened four times now. I took it in for service this morning. I was told they would run diagnostics. If the diagnostics showed it to be a powertrain issue, it would be covered. If not, I would have to pay for diagnostics. After they ran diagnostics, they think it is the pcm. However, they won't fix it because they can't prove it is nothing else or duplicate the problem. They also still charged me for the diagnostics because they can't say for 100% it is the pcm. They told me I would have to continue to drive the car until it happened regularly and I would probably wreck the car in the process. I told them to expect a lawsuit if that happens.

In 2012 our 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan started shaking while driving. We took the vehicle in they agreed to fix not replace the breaks but we had to pay $100. 00 deductible. We are having the same issue again August 2013. In doing some research I am finding many people are having issue with their breaks.

38 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2012

In may I started to notice some shimmying when I would slow down. The longer I drove the car, the worse it would get. I spoke to my neighbor is a mechanic at a car dealership and he said it was my brakes. I had my front brakes replaced on July 11th under the recall. The shimmying was not as bad but still there. It has progressively gotten worse. Now at 27,000 my rear brakes are being worked on. I have been driving for 18 years and have never had this type of brake trouble and do not feel I should be having it on a new car.

43 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2011

Brakes went out one month after purchase from the dealership. Replacement cost $936 for which we received no help from the dealer even though we paid for extensive insurance on the vehicle. Had to replace the entire brake system and just one and a half years later we are forced to do the same thing again. If the brakes cannot support the weight of the vehicle the vehicle should be recalled before fatalities are caused by a faulty brake system. We did receive a letter stating we would be reimbursed for our payment of the brake system but since we had moved and I could not locate the receipt we were not reimbursed.

48 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

When pressing brakes there is a real bad pulsating vibration . There has been numerous times I felt like the van was not going to stop properly which could lead to an accident.

49 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2011

Since basically brand new the brakes felt funny to me. My wife said it was just me. Had dealer check them under 1 year and they said nothing was wrong. Within 6 month of that visit the recall came out and front brakes could be replaced. Cost me the deductible. Well that fix has never felt right either and it's getting worse. The shake is violent now in addition ton the grinding that happens every time the car just starts up for the day or god forbid you have to hit them hard for a quick stop. Tons of groaning and creaks not too mention and dragged out stop. You also can't tell me this kind of shaking is good for the other front end parts. As I see it I can keep going through sets of brakes that will warp fast and not provide me and my family the safety we need to be comfortable or get rid of it. Give you one guess which direction I'm heading. Said commercial for Dodge and their quality. I have owned many Dodge vehicles but will likely move on all together from them. Already replaced my Dodge durango 2004 that did quite well with 2012 Nissan armada. I will be watching in my rear view for Dodge min-vans and be sure to move out the way not knowing if they can stop before hitting me. The worst braking I have felt on a car ever and I've driven some terrible 1970's machines. Boo Dodge on this one for not stepping up and fixing the entire problem. Guess potential lawsuits will cost them less. How do they sleep at night. That felt good to get off my chest I truly hate this vehicle.

50 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2011

The brake rotors warp every 20,000 miles or so, so bad that the steering wheel shakes. This has happened on both my 2008 and my 2010 caravan. Dodge has known about this problem for years and has refused to address it other than to give a discount only if you ask for it. Getting them fixed at the dealer is a pain cause they take the van for at least a day some times two. Also the wheel bearings on the 2008 did not last very long at all first set was replaced under warranty(37,000 miles) second set(68,000miles) was not. I have not had the wheel bearing issue on the 2010. The wheel bearings are sealed so it has nothing to do with the warped rotor issue.
