1 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

My van cranks, but won't start, it happens on and off. . . It seems to be the fuel pump relay everyone's talking about.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2021

The tipm failed, this has been confirmed with a mechanic. It is available for inspection. The car's fuel pump keeps running even when the car is turned off which drains the battery. I am concerned that it may cause a fire and burn my house down. This is a known problem with these vehicles and certain VIN numbers are recalled. I was told my VIN number is not on recall. With this being a know problem, all VIN's should be on recall. This makes your car unusable and if the car cuts off in traffic, a real safety concern.

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2021

When turning the key over to start the vehicle it will keep turning over but not crank and it will not stop turning over until you switch the key in off position. Also, at times the van will stall while runing and shut off. So far in parked position but I am afraid it could happen while driving. The fuel pump will keep runing after the ignition has been shut off and the key taken out. This runs the battery dead and will leave you sitting.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2020

Faulty timp causing issue with fuel pump module/relay. Faulty start and unable to turn on vehicle. This happened approximately 4 times in a parked position within a 24 hour period before vehicle was no longer drivable. Intermittent check engine light within the previous 3 weeks prior. Vehicle was inspected by a certified dealership to diagnose the issue.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2020

The car was parked in the driveway. We attempting to turn the care on it just cranks and won't kick over. The fuse for the fuel pump has gone bad in the tipm. And the car now starts intermittently. I need to have a rely put in.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2020

Our Dodge Grand Caravan was stationary and experienced intermittent starting problems over a period of months and sometimes when it did start, it would stall shortly after starting while in motion. Finally, it would not start after repeated attempts, waiting are trying again. We had it towed to our mechanic who tested it and found that it was the fuel pump relay. He said it was common to may Dodge and Jeep models. They all have the same circuit board. He recommended taking it to a dealer for repairs even though it had not yet been recalled. The dealer confirmed that they had the parts for the fix and fixed the fuel pump relay problem. The repair has a 2 year warranty. An employee of dealer expressed that it may be 3 months from the October 8, 2020 repair, but eventually Chrysler would issue a recall since so many models with this part have been recalled. We were advised to keep the receipt for later reimbursement. It is now March 14, 2021 and no recall has been made for our vehicle. Please try to expedite this recall. The NHTSA probably is not getting many complaints because everyone with the problem expects it to be handled soon. Thank you for your help.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2020

1st problem erratic ignition stalling while in park. Battery was replaced and taken to shop, the auto technician assumed based on p0128 p0520 p0441 it was gas fuel cap, switch oil pressure, housing thermostat, gasket intake manifold they replaced O2 sensors vacuum line read a sensor with evapo system causing check engine light came on and a host of other items checked gas cap totaled me $779. Car refuse to started next mornings for pass two weeks every morning several attempts to start car after parked overnight no start only stalling first. Then waited an hour put car in neutral see if car starts it did. After driving that day while driving car acceleration began to go fast by itself on a highway then jerk rpm dropped down while driving my children in the car. I thought maybe gear was out of place so I looked to see if it was in drive, it was in drive. Went back to auto shop they said since car is working now can't hook up system to check p codes because it won't show up if it's working. Told me drive 60 miles to see prob continue. Next morning car didn't start, no fuse signal shows. Then car was dead one click sound ,no stall. Called roadside assist and tried to jump battery. Guy said it's not battery he said it's the fuel pump. Contacted the auto mechanic spoke with mgr of shop and said it can be a tipm and cost $1200. This is a very unstable and unsafe issue my family and I drive in this van don't feel safe 2nd issue car hesitated to stop two months ago when I pressed the brakes to stop car while driving on road to stop at red light, no stop I had to pump brakes and I thought it was brakes I paid for replacement of brakes and pads as well. This electrical module has been the cause of known incidents. It can cause accidents. The van is dangerous safety hazard. Tipm and electrical system is creating unsafe braking and ignition fuel conditions causing malfunction.

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2020

2015-2020 on approximately 45 occassions the fuel pump continues running after ignition shut-off. It then drains the battery which requires jump starting to keep from being stranded. 2015-2020 on multiple occassions (approximately 4 times)the fuel pump will not kick on at all leaving vehicle and driver/family stranded. 2020 3 times while driving the van just shut off. This has been going on for 6 years and now will not start at all. Researched and had it tested. It is the tipm. Totally integrated power module. This has been recalled in both Dodge durango and the Jeep. Many Dodge caravans have the same problem. *refusal to recall due to undocumented complaints and requests is a failure to public safety. A quick internet search of issues regarding the tpim im Dodge Grand Caravans is proof enough to show that the fault lies as significantly with these vehicles as the durangos and jeeps. *** a new investigation should be conducted. I have sustained injuries in my neck and shoulders as a disabled person by having to raise and drop my hood to disconnect my battery terminal everywhere the vehicle sits on every occassion possible for 6 years to avoid intermittent battery drain and being stranded with my two young children. Is a gross disservice to consumers and public safety that this model has yet to be included in the tpim recall.

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2020

Fuel pump keeps running. It then kills the battery. The fuel pump will not kick on at all. When driving the van would just shut off. This has been going on for a few weeks and now will not start. Researched and had it tested. It is the tipm. Totally integrated power module. This has been recalled in both Dodge durango and the Jeep. Many Dodge caravans have the same problem. Could you please look into it for us. The part to fix it could be up to 2000.

10 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2020

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving on the freeway the vehicle stalled out twice. Both times the contact was able to coast to the side of the road and restart the vehicle. The contact tried to press on the accelerator but there were times when the vehicle would speed and others when it would stall out. The it stalled the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic who found that the fuel pump relay was the issue with a connection malfuntion. The mother board around the fuel pump relay had burn marks. The contact checked with the dealer dick hannah Jeep 3517 ne auto mall dr, vancouver, wa 98662 (360) 342-9650. They said there were no recalls and quoted a repair cost of $1273 just for the parts. The vehicle was currently still with the independent mechanic unrepaired. The manufacturer also stated there was no recall and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 131. 660. Tf.

11 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2020

Over the last 6 weeks, on occasion when attempting to start the vehicle- it will crank without turning over and running. This requires multiple attempts before the vehicle would run. It has become a more frequent event to include briefly running then shutting down. Wthin the last week, the battery has drained without casue- requireing charging. As of today, the failure to start issue persists requireing multiple attempts. This happens on a cold start as well as when the vehicle has been running/is warmed up. Ddiagnostics lead to a failure of the fuel pump relay in the tipm. This is a well documented issue for this engine/tipm however the caravan has not been included in the recall as the druango and Jeep vehicles have been. The failure of this tipm has been documented to include sudden engine shutdown while in operation representing a significant danger to the public. Based on reviews of other complaints, an ordinary reasonable prudent person would believe that this tipm failure is a iminent threat to safety. The manufacturer should be required to expand the recall and repair to all vehicles equipped with the suspect tipm. Currently, a non recalled vehicle would have the tipm module replced at a significant cost to the owner or, a non dealership installed "recall" repair (new relay) installed that would negate any further/future responsibility of the manufacturer. Authorized service centers should be required to provide the option of paying for the "recall" repair when servicing a vehicle not on the recall list. Knowing this tipm failures potential, I would suggest that, regardless of any class actin settlement- the manufacturer be required to mitigate this issue at the least possible expense to the vehicle owner.

12 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2019

Driving at 55mph on a main city rd vehicle started to hesitate then shut off with no warning. Vehicle acted like it was out of fuel . I was able to cost vehicle to the shoulder vehicle would not start back up. It would continuously turn over when trying to crank but would not start I bought a tester to test the vehicles fuel pump as well as the fuss and relays. I have also paid a shop to diagnose the issue and results were a failed tipm and failed fuel pmp relays which are built in. Due to high costs of the tipm and back order we had to tow the vehicle to were it currently sits until a solution can be made.

13 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2019

I recently have been experiencing battery drainage to the point of needing 2 battery replacements. I then realized that after I turn off my vehicle the fuel pump is still on. I replaced the fuse and relay only to still have the same problem. Replaced the fuel pump and the problem is still there. This vehicle stalled on my three times while driving to either work or on the highway with my children. This is a safety issue and I have ran out of option to fix it. Dodge needs to figure out the cause and fix it.

14 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2019

I am having a problem with the fuel pump relay. There is a recall on the Dodge vehicles but my VIN was not among the list. What steps should I take to fix the problem?.

15 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2019

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle would shut off however, the fuel pump relay was running with the ignition turned off as a noise was heard coming from the engine compartment. The failure would drain the battery as the battery was replaced several times. The vehicle would also stall when driving at 60-65 mph without warning on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep of ann arbor ( 3900 jackson rd, ann arbor, mi 48103) whom advised no recalls on the vehicle. The contact stated that an independent mechanic advised that the total integrated power module (tipm) would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

16 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would suddenly shut off. After restarting the engine the vehicle would operate as normal. Also on occasions the vehicle would not immediately start causing the battery to drain and the fuel pump would sometimes continued to operate after turning the vehicle off. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer mike anderson Chrysler(417 s. 3rd st. Logansport, in. ) and the manufacturer were notified of the failures but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 150,000. Jft.

17 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2019

Problem starting from faulty tipm causing fuel relay to work intermittently. Fuel pump works by testing. The problem is faulty power in tipm.

18 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2019

Tamara recall car was working fine all of a sudden it wouldn't crank just making constant clicking noise the noise stop when I turn the key back so I went to get it checked they told me it was the fuel pump so I checked on youtube for the year make and model of the problem the clicking noise so comes to find out the man on youtube set that a lot of good cars the caravans act like that but people always think it's the fuel pump but it don't be the fuel pump it is the relay and it showed me how to do a relay bypass with a wire soon as I perform the relay bypass my car crank right up but I know that's not going to last and to me that is an expensive part to try to fix on my own.

19 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2019

The vehicle is having issues with tipm. The van will not start due to a defect in the tipm relay that will not allow the fuel pump to function. This has been noted on several Dodge and Chrysler vehicles. Most recently a lawsuit was settled but only half of the affected vehicles were covered. From a cold start, the engine will turn over but not start, the ignition sequence will continue until you turn it off. It is currently in the driveway until I can replace the tipm,.

20 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2019

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Dodge caravan. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact mentioned that the vehicle needed a jump to start the vehicle. The failure recurred multiple times. The contact mentioned that he replaced the battery. In addition, the contact was hearing an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they informed the fuel pump was draining the battery. The mechanic diagnosed that the relay needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the contact stated that the vehicle was unable to start and will hesitate when it was starting. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000. Ak.

21 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2019

The totally integrated power module (tipm) on my Dodge caravan vehicle contains an internal fuel pump relay that operates intermittently and fails without warning caused and still causes the engine to stall while driving which could cause a crash. There is no warning when the fuel pump is going to fail. This is a known issue on the 2012 Dodge caravan, but no recall to date.

22 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2019

The fuel pump stays on after the van is turned off and the keys are removed, sometimes it will kick off if you reinsert the keys and turn it off other times we have to pull the fuse to make it kick off. This has happened on numerous occasions other than today. After doing research I have found out it's a very common occurrence in Dodge caravan and also the town and country.

23 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2019

My fuel pump kept running when the car was off and the key was out it was the tipm computer that was bad I bypassed the tipm when this was fixed at Dodge now my battery light is coming on its a brand new battery and alternator and im being told its the tipm. It also was effecting acceleration it would ramp up rpm but speed would not change this issue occured while in motion driving on a freeway.

24 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2018

While in motion at low speed the engine suddenly stopped running and could not be immediately restarted, unable to get out of the lane or off to the shoulder. After several attempts of cycling the key fob off and on the van started again. It is fortunate that this occurred in a very rural area with no traffic. This is a 2012 Grand Caravan with approx. 90k miles. My husband researched similar failures other drivers have experienced with the Grand Caravan, he believes it is likely a failing fuel pump relay. He read that many other Chrysler vehicles having the same relay system have been recalled but apparently not the Grand Caravan as we have not received a recall notice in the mail.

25 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2017

Driver rear brakes locked up on me today. Had fuel relay switch go out but had it replaced, fuel pump went out had it replaced. Someone told me the brakes system is under recall.

26 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2017

The vehicle didn't start in the morning when switch on I have to call to the body shop and they found out it was the fuel pump they had to change it. I thing that for a car that is only 5 years and 71963 miles it is to soon to have that kind of problems . The vehicle was stationary on a driveway I do have a repair invoice.

27 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2017

Multiple attempts to start, perhaps occuring most often in the morning when the vehicle is cold. The problem gets worse over time and eventually won't start at all. Unexplained battery drainage due to a relay that is stuck in the closed/on position. You can likely hear the fuel pump running if listening from the rear of the vehicle after it's turned off. Battery drainage may still occur even after a new battery is installed. The vehicle stalls while driving and you coast to a stop. The vehicle won't start and appears to be out of gas.

28 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2016

Starting September 2016 we noticed our lights would go on for no reason and our doors would open on its own. We initially chalked it up to our key being faulty and replaced the batteries, but every so often it kept happening. In October our battery died, we figured the last time we changed it was when we originally got the van so maybe it was just time and replaced it. Then in November our car would not start right away. It started with have to crank about 2 times. Especially in the morning after it sat unused for a couple hours, but then throughout the day it was fine. Soon though it took 5 times before it would start so we took it into to our mechanic to see if there was an issue. Nothing registered on the computer, we figured maybe our fuel lines were clogged and we did a flush. It fixed the starting problem for about a week and then it happened again. We could hear our car cranking, but it would not start and we would have to crank it a couple times. Then while driving our car just stopped. Everything shut down, mind you while driving downhill at about 45 mph. The wheel locked and luckily my husband was driving, he was able to get to the side. We towed our car to the mechanic who said now the computer is saying the fuel pump is bad. So we changed that. Our van worked perfectly. . . For one day. The next morning it would crank, but not start. After towing to the dealership they stated the next appointment was in January 2017 and our van would be on standby. We are fortunate we did not have to wait that long to have them look at it, but now they stated we needed to replace the battery. . . Again! the problem was our tipm. It basically fried our brand new battery. Total cost for replacing just the tipm $1200!!!! that is not including $140 for diagnostics and $140 for a new battery. How can this happen to a car that is only 4 years old?.

29 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Suspected tipm failure causing multiple electrical issues. 1. 9/1/16 fuel pump died thereby immobilizing vehicle. Very unusual for a car with less than 60k miles and not yet 5 yrs old. Replaced at dealership, no reimbursement from Chrysler corp, total out of pocket cost $826. 2. 10/1/16 multiple electrical issues occurred simultaneously a) power door locks no longer function. Therefore over 20mph self locking doors not functional. B) fuel gauge reads completely empty but tank is definitely full. C) parking brake light is constantly illuminated although not applied. D) interior dome lights working intermittently. E) service engine soon indicator light on. For items #1 & #2 vehicle was stationary both times. Currently not being driven until further repair research is done as electrical issues of this nature create an unsafe driving environment.

30 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

My daughter made an attempt to start the vehicle, one night after community theater rehearsal, to drive home and found the vehicle would not start and she heard random relays chattering throughout the vehicle, had the windshield wipers move, the instrument panel lights flickered on/off along with displaying error codes "no fuse" and "no bus". The fuel pump could be heard running, even with the key off and she said the van acted like it was possessed. Based on online information, I replaced the crankshaft position sensor, which was listed as a top culprit in the problem and that solved nothing. Further research indicated the tipm unit is most likely the cause and we found that her make/model of vehicle is part of a lawsuit for this problem.

31 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2014

I was entering on a busy interstate when my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan r/t got to about 50+ mph the gas pedal kept accelerating and would not stop the rpm gage hit 6 the only way I got it to stop was to put the vehicle in neutral and pull of the road the rmp's kept going as did the engine I turned the van off in neutral and put it in park. When I started the van back up it instantly started doing the same thing in park. I turned the van back off and waited about 5 minutes and when I restarted the van it seemed normal. Took it to the dealership that day on a Saturday they called me Monday and said it happened with their technicians driving and he removed the floor mat that had been in there for 2 and a half years and it was fine they told me the floor mat got stuck under the pedal! common sense says it would stop the pedal from being pushed down not pull the pedal to the floor. But what do I know right!?!?!?! I am just a female and mother to 2 small children who were with me when it happened. It did this again with my husband driving on a 6 lane road when he pulled out from a stop. This time the floor mat had not been there. Chrysler needs to do something about this matter before a run away vehicle kills someone! they keep telling me they have no idea what the problem is caused from because no codes come up on diagnostics. However if you search the issue online it points to the tipm and the fuel pump not shutting off. The safety issue of this is pretty severe if you ask me. A vehicle that accelerates on its own is pretty serious and dangerous not only for my family but to the general public as well! I do not want to just get rid of the vehicle it is the first brand new vehicle my family has owned and even purchased the extended warranty with the hopes of keeping the vehicle for at least 6 years and now this is not a safe family vehicle! please help with this issue!.
