1 Lose Power Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2020

I was driving on city street at approximately 40 mph. The engine unexpectedly shut down and I lost power steering and power brakes, nearly losing control of the vehicle. The road was flat and straight, clear weather conditions. I am concerned that this is related to the recall r03 (formerly l25): ignition switch may turn off safety problem on other Chrysler/Dodge models. This is extremely dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately.

2 Lose Power Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2018

The van randomly and with no warning loses power steering and locks the gas pedal so it cannot be pressed while driving around 25-35 mph. Putting the van in park and restarting the car fixes the problem. This has happened at least 8 times in the last 4 months. Mechanic has tried to fix the problem and the problem continues to be an issue. It seems to happen near stoplights while the car is in motion. It also seems to occur within 10-20 minutes of starting the vehicle. On one occasion the brakes locked up with the steering. No engine lights turn on when it happens, and it is impossible to replicate the problem on demand. Through social networking and researching the problem online many other Dodge caravans and Chrysler vans have had this same problem with no solution.
