Left side door will not open. Electric door. I have a handicap grandchild and small grandchildren that I will not be able to get to fast enough in case of a fire. And if other door goes out, how will I be able to get them out. Its a fire hazzard.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2022

My passenger sliding door will not unlock. I have tried to move the lock but it will not move. I have tried using the keys it will not unlock. I know this is a problem for other 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan owners too. I only have 61,000 miles on my van. It is a safety issue that I would expect the manufacturer to resolve. I hope you will require the manufacturer to fix this problem. As others mentioned this is not just happening on one side of the car but eventually happens on both sides.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2022

Power locks actuators in sliding doors are failing, produce loud buzzing noise. Failure of locks could present risk of trapped passengers.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2022

A month, or so ago our passenger slide sliding door started making a loud buzzing sound when we unlocked the doors. That is annoying, but to me is not a safety issue, so wasn't too concerned about it. What is going on with our driver side sliding door now I do believe is a safety issue and needs to be part of a recall. The driver side sliding door was refusing to unlock, or open sometimes but now it is all the time. We are unable to manually unlock it to use the door. It is stuck in the lock position and totally unusable now as we are unable to manually unlock it by hand and unable to unlock it using the door locks, or the the remote. The lights flash when I click the button on the remote to open that door, but it doesn't respond and unlock it. What is gonna happen when the other door decides to do the same thing and no one can get out of the van in the case of an emergency. This needs to be a recall and be fixed for all the families that drive and love your vans. We've never had an issue like this with our previous years of Dodge vans. I got the warranty thing in the mail for this to be fixed with 150,000 miles, or less. At the time I got the letter ours was only doing the buzzing sound on the one door, but it already had 160,000 miles on it, so it was past the warranty time to get fixed. Thanks jaime ketelboeter.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2022

The right (passenger side) sliding door is locked closed and will not open from the inside or outside. Rear-seat passengers are being forced to exit through the windows, rear hatch, front doors, or the other sliding door. This is not only an unnecessary inconvenience but also potentially very dangerous if there's an accident when occupants need to exit the vehicle quickly. I will take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptom prior to the failure. The problem first appeared two days ago, the van has less that 100,000 miles.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2022

Sliding passenger door actuator makes a loud buzzing noise when unlocking, and also will fail to unlock. In the event of an emergency, passengers will be unable to unlock the door and exit from the vehicle. No warning lamps have activated, notifying of a problem. There are no recalls on file.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2022

Sliding door buzzes when locking from front driver and passenger side automatic locks. Not sure if it closes as we have child safety locked so not able to open from inside.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

The slider doors and back/trunk hatch have many electrical malfunctions. -driver-side sliding door: after we press the button to open the door, the door often begins closing on our kids as soon as it has fully opened. When I press the button to open it again, it will start closing again immediately. Sometimes this process repeats 2-3 times before it stays open and our children can exit the car. -the door emits a horrible, loud buzz when the car is locked, the car is unlocked, the car doors are all locked but a door opens (triggering the doors to unlock), and when the car is in drive and begins to approach or exceed 10-15 mph. -the back hatch occasionally fully opens and then closes immediately. Or it opens and lurches downward so it's only ~2/3 open. At times it has almost closed on/hit one of our kids. This has been going on for years and I just learned that we could file a report. Please, please investigate and start process for a recall. These issues are more than just annoying; they could seriously injure or harm a child or an adult. Note: these issues started when the car was ~6 years old, around 2022, but it is ongoing and not resolved. Thank you kindly.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2021

According to research there is known problem with the slidding van doors for the 2016 Dodge caravan. Both of my van doors have went out and is stuck in lock mode, to where it will not unlock or open. This is a safety issue especially when you have children that cannot unrestrain themselves from a seatbelt or car seat.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2021

Passenger sliding doors will not open. In December 2021 Dodge dealership seemingly fixed issue. It is now 2023 and the doors will not open again. This is very dangerous as I have two small children. The costs for these repairs were very expensive and unfortunately hasn't even lasted 2 years. I now have to pay out of pocket thousands for an issue that is completely mechanical and dealer issue.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2021

Passenger side sliding door lock, no longer locks/unlocks via lock buttons unless lock on door is manually locked/unlocked by hand. Driver side sliding door makes a grinding sound when using lock buttons to lock door. No sound when unlocking this door.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2021

Buzzing from driver’s side sliding rear door when power lock button is pressed to lock the doors or when car begins driving (when door locks are activated automatically). Many people have reported this same issue on forums about the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. Dealerships have told them it is a faulty door lock actuator.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2021

The driver's side sliding door no longer opens automatically or manually. The button fob or the interior will not open the door.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2021

Vehicle's rear sliding doors intermittently jam locked, one, or the other, or both. The respective sliding locks will not budge, not by remote, not from the button on the driver's door, and especially, not even manually, from the sliding lock on the doors themselves. Sometimes a buzzing sound is heard from one or the other of the the locks when commanding to lock electrically, including when the car starts moving at over 20 mph or so, and all doors lock automatically. I understand that electrical commands ("power" this and that) may stop working at some time in the life of a car, but at least they can be so engineered that in case of the door locks not to jam the lock in the locked position! I understand there are a few hundred complaints about these locks, all jamming, all in the locked position, on all vans w/sliding doors built by Chrysler. What would it take for the Chrysler-fiat, or whatever they're called now, to fix the problem and issue a recall?? a fire? injuries? worse, god forbid? can you imagine when the injured party lawyers find out there have been hundreds of similar complaints and no recall? . .

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2021

The lock actuator in both rear sliding doors has failed. The first to fail was the rear passenger door. While the door and lock still operate, it makes a loud buzzing noise whenever it is activated (as described in the 2016 TSB issued by the manufacturer. ) my mechanic inspected and confirmed this problem in September 2021. Just the other day (10/20/21), the actuator on the rear driver door also failed without any warning (it had never made noise): the lock “seized” and we were unable to unlock and open the door through any means. This exact pattern of failure has been reported by many other owners of this vehicle. Malfunctioning locks present an obvious safety problem, especially in the case of the locked door which would make it difficult for my children to escape the car quickly in an emergency. Neither actuator has been replaced yet and thus they are available for inspection if necessary.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2021

When the doors are unlocked, a loud buzzing noise comes from the vehicle. Upon research it seems like it is a faulty door actuator. This could cause the doors to be unable to open or close. It has not been repaired and it is available for inspection upon request.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2021

Driver side middle sliding door will not open.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2021

Passenger power sliding door made buzzing sound when unlocking and the next day was stuck in the lock position. The door cannot be opened from the inside or outside.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2021

The driver side sliding door makes a loud buzzing sound whenever the doors lock. I have read up on this and it is a faulty door lock actuator. This sound is sudden and loud and has on multiple times caused the driver to get startled. This sound happens when the van auto-locks at the door locks specific set speed.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2021

Side slider door lock actuator on passenger side makes lots of noise and the lock actuator on left side without notice has stopped working also at same time. This lock mechanism issue prevents the slider door locks or handles from working inside and outside the vehicle. Remote does not work for these doors either, but still work for front doors and hatch.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2021

Loud buzzing sound when unlocking doors coming from sliding passenger side sliding door. At times cannot get door to operate. Safety issue!! I have reported this earlier and want to know when recall will occur. Dealer approx cost $1000 per door. Crazy, that people may get trapped inside car, and there is nothing Dodge is doing about it. Like I said, I have reported this before, so the date shown on this complaint may not match original NHTSA submission.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2021

2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The passenger side sliding door makes a groaning or buzzing when unlocking. Cannot manually move passenger side lock switch mechanism either. Both sliding doors have become stuck in the closed position in the past several times over the past several years, making it hard to get people out of car. Seems like a safety type issue. The repair for this (approx $1000 per door) seems to be very expensive for something that should not fail. Problem of doors getting stuck in locked position at times has been intermittent meaning lock/ unlock may work again . Not sure if this is due to unhooking battery and resetting or just because car was turned off and on.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2021

There is a loud buzzing noise coming from the rear driver's side door when it locks. I have researched this and see that this is a common problem with this model.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2021

Driver side window motor and hardware have been replaced twice in the past 2 years and keeps falling into the door panel. The window falls without being used, just a loud dang and the window falls. There have been no accidents that side of the vehicle and it was parked when it happened.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2021

I have a faulty door lock actuator on the back left sliding door. It is making a buzzing sound. Not sure if it is actually locking or not.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2021

Passenger side sliding door failed. Not able to open door manually, using key fob, or using inside door button. Driver side sliding door is operational and can be opened using all of the aforementioned methods. Component is available to be inspected. The safety of the driver and passengers are put at risk due to the inability to open the door from the inside. If any situation was to compromise the drivers side then the passenger door would lock in the passengers. The component within the door has not been inspected. The warning before the failure was a loud noise every time the door was unlocked or locked. All methods of locking the door would produce this noise.

70 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2021

Our van makes a loud buzzing sound each time we open our doors or unlock them.
