37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2022

In July of 2022, the air conditioner failed. Called to make an appointment with deluca, the part did not come in so we did not bring the van in for repair. In August 2022 the van started stalling while driving on occasion. Brought into the mechanics but he could not see an issue of why the van would be stalling and could not diagnose when the van was stalling as it did not occur while he was inspecting the van. On October 17, 2022, the driver of the van called to say that the engine started smoking, there was a big puddle under the van and he could not move the van. He was stuck on the side of tower hill in auburn, nh in a dangerous spot.

Driver side passenger sliding door is stuck in locked position and will not open manually or electronically. This poses severe safety risk in the event that passenger needs to exit vehicle quickly.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2022

My right side passenger door is 100 percent stuck in the lock position. We have car seats in the captains chairs and can not tend to the children properly because the door will not open. There is not even an option to open manually! we need the doors to be easily open to get the kids in a case of an emergancy.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2022

Driver side sliding door locking mechanism will not unlock and hence the door cannot be opened from inside or outside the vehicle. Has not been diagnosed by dealer or any others. All other doors work as expected. This is true safety concern. In the event of an emergency, a person sitting adjacent to this sliding door would not be able to escape. Should absolutely be a recall. A true safety concern. There are may people complaining of the same problem on the internet. Should not wait until someone dies to address this issue.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2022

Actuator failed and car makes a loud buzzing sound when locking or unlocking the door. Back driver-side door won't open.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2022

On June 3, 2022, the rear sliding door on the passenger side of my van wouldn't open. It can't be opened via the fob, the button above the driver's center console, nor by hand. It will not unlock. From inside the cabin, I can't unlock the door either. At present, this hasn't put anyone's safety at risk, but if I had had passengers in the back, and we'd been in an accident or some other situation that required us to quickly exit the vehicle, exit would have been impeded. I have an appointment with the service section of the local Dodge dealer. I'm finding online that Chrysler has extended the warranty on door lock actuator on the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan to 15 years/150,000 miles. I'm within that window, but whatever the problem, I want it documented. There were no warning lamps, messages, nor symptoms of the problem before it occurred. I had no odd sounds from the door motor/lock mechanism nor any warning messages/lamps. The door just wouldn't open when I went to open it this morning.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2022

Passenger rear door would not lock and I have been unable to secure my car from theft. I put gorilla tape on the handle to discourage anyone from opening it. Then it started buzzing. My mechanic has "fixed" it twice, and he has it locking for now, but it buzzes every time the door locks or unlocks. I am unable to keep spending money on fixing it and now understand that it is a known problem with this vehicle. It needs to be recalled and dealer needs to pay to fix it.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2022

Passenger side rear siding door will no longer open manually, using the button on fob or using the open door button at the top near the overhead console. This poses a safety issue not allowing passengers to exit the vehicle as the door will not even open manually. Appears to be in lock position and will not move.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

Loud buzzing noise when locking and unlocking door. Have been told its the actuator.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2022

The passenger side sliding door had a loud buzzing sound when unlocked and now will not unlock or open.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2022

The sliding rear passenger doors have faulty lock actuators. Looked on my forums and tons of people are having the same issues. I had one door actuator replaced a couple years ago. Now my other door actuator is acting up. Dodge will charge $600-$1000 to replace.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

Both driver and passenger side sliding doors are stuck in a locked close position. This is very scary I am a family I have 4 kids that could be trapped if there is ever an accident. I have searched online and have seen so many cases of people dealing g with the same stuck sliding door issue. This is a major security life threatening problem.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2022

Left side door will not open. Electric door. I have a handicap grandchild and small grandchildren that I will not be able to get to fast enough in case of a fire. And if other door goes out, how will I be able to get them out. Its a fire hazzard.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2022

The driver's side sliding door won't open, and the passenger side sliding door sometimes will open a little and then reclose. Dodge extended the warranty in January, but the mileage on our van puts us outside of the warranty. However, when our door stopped opening, our van would have been in the warranty. I consider this a safety issue. We have taken the van to the local dealer, and the issue with the sliding door is what the extended warranty was intended. Since we are outside of the warranty, Dodge/Chrysler will not cover the expense of repairing the door.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2022

My passenger sliding door will not unlock. I have tried to move the lock but it will not move. I have tried using the keys it will not unlock. I know this is a problem for other 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan owners too. I only have 61,000 miles on my van. It is a safety issue that I would expect the manufacturer to resolve. I hope you will require the manufacturer to fix this problem. As others mentioned this is not just happening on one side of the car but eventually happens on both sides.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2022

Power locks actuators in sliding doors are failing, produce loud buzzing noise. Failure of locks could present risk of trapped passengers.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

The actuator on the sliding door of the minivan is stuck in the unlocked position. This means that the door cannot lock under any circumstances. When driving the door remains unlocked and there is no way to lock it. The other sliding door was previous stuck in the locked position and I had it replaced by a mechanic.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2021

The drivers side sliding door lock is buzzing and not sure if it auto locks.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2021

Sliding door locks cannot be operated from outside of the vehicle, once the lock actuator fails. The button on the inside, (both upper console and b pillar button) will not operate the door. The door can only be opened manually after manually moving the lock switch. Small or older passengers would not be able to exit after a crash, and could not be assisted without breaking the window.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2021

Passenger side sliding door lock, no longer locks/unlocks via lock buttons unless lock on door is manually locked/unlocked by hand. Driver side sliding door makes a grinding sound when using lock buttons to lock door. No sound when unlocking this door.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2021

The door lock actuator is buzzing on our driver side sliding door. I have read that there are issues with buzzing and then the lock failing and the door not opening. This is super concerning because my three year old sits on this side in a five point harness.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2021

The driver's side sliding door no longer opens automatically or manually. The button fob or the interior will not open the door.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2021

Both of my back sliding doors have locked up…. We had to pull by 80 year old mother in law out the back cargo area…this is a 2016 vehicle and now the alarm is constantly going of the horn is blowing and I am on disability and can not afford to fix all that is going wrong with this car…. Now I have a van that the kids are having to climb in and out the front and this is so embarrassing…please help. I have heard several complaints on the same matter…I have had 2 transmissions out in here and I bought this car with only 313 miles on it….

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2021

Last week the driver's side automatic sliding door in my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan got stuck in the locked position. It is unable to be opened, either by remote or manually, and the lock can not be disabled rendering this door unusable. This is a major safety hazard! I have 4 children, which is the main reason I got a minivan and specifically one with automatic sliding doors. Two of my children are still in car seats, which are located beside each sliding door so I can help with their seat belts as needed. My youngest is beside the driver's side sliding door, the one I have having the issue with now. Right now, unless I reach over and behind the driver's seat or walk around the car to the opposite door, I can not reach my child's car seat!!!! not only is this extremely inconvenient and time consuming, it is extremely dangerous! what if my son needs help with something and I need to reach him? what if he is choking? what if we are in an accident and I need to get him out of his car seat? when searching this issue online, it quickly became evident that this is a common problem that Dodge knows about and hasn't recalled!!! I was beyond shocked and appalled! how could this issue be common and known - it's all over the internet, and not be acknowledged by Dodge??? is my children's safety not worthy of a recall? is this just a money making scheme? are they waiting for a child to die to do a recall? the majority of people who buy minivans have young children and need the convenience of sliding doors. So the majority of people at-risk with this issue are children. This is blatant neglect on the part of Dodge and needs to be called out and have Dodge recall it as soon as possible before something bad happens. Thank you for your help in this matter.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2021

The passenger side sliding door will not lock, even the manual lock is stuck in the unlocked position. I just bought the car used 2 months ago and only realized the problem when I went to pick up my children from school. They approached the vehicle and pulled the door handle before I had a chance to put the car in park, and to my surprise it opened. I don't know how long it's been like this. It's my understanding that this is a common point of failure for 2015-2018 Dodge/chryser minivans, that the locks can become stuck in the locked or unlocked position and it's very expensive for the consumer to fix. The manufacturer ought to issue a recall and replace the faulty components as this is a safety issue.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2021

Drivers side, sliding door, won't open or close. Either remotely or mannually. All doors have been buzzing upon activation for a few years now, but I can"t afford to fix that. Vehicle has 55,000 miles plus on it, and I really love it, but I dont think I'll buy another one unless I receive some satisfaction regarding this problem. I have reviewed this condition on the internet and found it's more common than I would thought. Dodge should be ashamed for not correcting this problem.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2021

Both back sliding door locks are inoperable. The passenger side made a buzzing noise for a while and now won't lock at all and the drive side will not unlock even, manually flipping the switch does not work.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2021

Automatic door locks make loud buzzing noise when they lock. I m afraid we will get stuck in locked car. I have not brought to anyone yet. No warning lamps or anything else. This is a definite safety hazzard and I want it repaired at no charge before something tragic happens.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2021

Out of the blue the passenger slider door started making this awful noise everytime you unlock it. Sounds like this is a pretty common probably after doing some research. Should be a re call after multiple searches it’s something that started on the 2016 with the locking mechanism.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

Both sliding doors will not open. It started that one would not lock and one would not unlock now both are stuck closed. I have 3 kids and they have to crawl out the front doors in order to get out or in. I have been reading about the actuators going out on other vans.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2021

Bought van and shortly after the right passenger sliding door starting making a loud buzz every time it was unlocked. Researched that it was the actuator, have not fixed yet. Now, in August 2021, the drivers passenger sliding door will not open. It just stopped one day. It won't open with the latch, inside or outside, with the key fob, or with the button inside on the door or on the visor. I'm afraid if I ever have a wreck, we could be trapped with doors that just don't open. I've reached out to a few dealerships, and it is a costly fix and can't seem to get much info or response back from them anyway.
