Suspension Problems of Dodge Grand Caravan - part 2

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle vibrated abnormally when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The dealer replaced the front brake pads however, the failure was not corrected and the vehicle continued to vibrate abnormally when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was repaired under a manufacturer's recall where the front and rear rotors, and brake pads were replaced. The failure recurred several months later. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a diagnostic was performed. The failure was located as the cd joint seal, which failed and caused the lubricant to cover the front suspension. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 22 and the current mileage was 24,165.

Dodge Grand Caravan just went up in flames while driving within maybe 5 minutes fire fighters control the situation but the motor ,battery, everything in front inside hood just melted I really need help I had just finished paying it when this happened. I attribute this to the faulty electrical recalls it has as well as the fuel. Help. At least I want a replacement.

Vehicle is rusting under the paint as well as rusting quite quickly on the leaf spring mounts as well as most metal parts under the vehicle.

My car was just in a minor front end accident during a snowstorm. What should have been minor front end repairs now is resulting in a big issue for my family. My van was in good condition. I am the 2nd owner. The mechanic, while inspecting the vehicle, found a broken drivers side shock tower. This is damage is not covered by insurance since it is caused by rust and is a common issue with these vehicles. Had it not been common, allstate would not have had this loophole and the cost to repair the shock tower would have been covered. I am finding, through research, that this flaw in Chrysler vehicles is very common, yet has never been recalled by Chrysler. On the web I see blog after blog about this defect yet Chrysler does not deem it necessary to recall. I was told that this repair is roughly $3000 each side! that is 3/4 worth the value of my car. I thought this van would be with my family for a decade, but I only had the van for 3 years! due to this flaw in the vehicle, it will be sold for parts. I cannot afford the repair costs. Since I am a single mom of four, just laid off two weeks ago, this "flaw" of Chrysler's Dodge gc will cost me more than just its replacement value. This is wrong. Know of any class action suits against Chrysler for the shock tower flaw? they have issued a TSB # 23-044-02 on October 14, 2002. A loud noise was heard coming from the front of the vehicle while turning. Consumer noticed on more than one occasion that the noise would escalate louder and louder. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, but mechanic could not duplicate the problem.

Consumer stated that he purchased a 2004 grand Dodge caravan and it vibrated while driving. He stated it vibrated as if the tires were unbalanced. The consumer stated the dealer had removed all the tires and had rebalanced them, but it did not help. He also stated that a Chrysler engineer was called in and he was told that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. He also stated he called the Chrysler manufacturer and they told him that the vehicle was operating as designed. The consumer believed there was a problem, because no vehicle should vibrate while driving.

There is a clunking loose rattle sound upon any type of movement located seemingly at the base of the steering column. The vehicle must be rolling forward or coming to a stop to be heard. I have taken it to a shop and they confirmed the noise but could not visibly see a problem and recommended I have the dealer take it apart. The clunking is getting progressivley worse and loud.

The shock towers, which held the shocks to the vehicle's body, rusted excessively.

Steering wheel grinds and shakes when making turns. Consumer has contacted dealer, and they can't duplicated problem. Please provide any further information.

Unable to get a front wheels aligned because of a possible defective camber or strut that neededed to be replaced. Dealer / manufacturer notified, and both refused to assist because there was no recall, and out of it warranty. Please provide any further information concerning this matter.

Vehicle constantly vibrates. Faster vehicle goes, the faster it vibrates. Dealer has replaced front and rear bearings/ put a 2nd set of tires/ changed struts, and realigned the vehicle to rectify problem, nothing works.

Consumer was under hood & noticed strut rod was rusted. Consumer took vehicle to a mechanic, and found out that rod could break through and cause vehicle to lose control.

Tires would wobble while driving. Vehicle & steering wheel would shake & pulled to the right. Vehicle was controllable, but use of constant pressure was needed to keep it straight. Took vehicle to dealership. Mechanic balanced wheels. Took it back due to tires being defective. Manufacturer & dealership not claiming fault. Michlein 215/65416 mx4 all seasons.

Left front strut was weak, allowing the vehicle to sag, very poor stability and very poor handling. Left front strut was replaced and vehicle realigned, after bring the vehicle back to the dealership on five occassions. I had to push to get the vehicle repaired, and condition is now corrected.

When driving over 20 mph up until 40 mph the vehicle will start vibrating without prior warning. Vehicle has been in shop for service since consumer had the vehicle. Dealer thinks the tires are causing the vibration.

At high and low speeds the vehicle shakes and shimmies uncontrolably. Dealer cant find the problem.

There was rust on both sides of the tower which held the spring assembly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated the tower can be welded to fix the problem.

Body control has gone out three times. Windshild wipers would not work.

The vehicle will pull to the right at any speed. Dealer has attempted to repair the vehicle on 5 occasions but is unable to rectify the problem. Nlm.

The van is subject to drift to the right with the owner being told that the drifting is a safety feature to keep van from veering into on-coming traffic. The owner was told that the van should drift one lane 3/4 of a mile. The dealership is going to adjust the cradle to minimize the drifting. The owner has contacted several independent mechanics, police officers, etc. , to inquire if this is true or not about the drifting being a safety feature. Nlm.

Van has been in repair shop four times due to an unknown noise coming from rear left wheel. Dealership has done several lubrications, cleaning, and looking for hot spots on the brakes. Even after all maintenance that was performed by the dealership the unknown sound was still present. Please describe details.

The steering wheel shakes due to possible suspension problems, dealership changed tires, however consumer feels the repair is not sufficient.
