2 Turn Signal problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 03/29/2017

Bought vehicle used from kia dealership August 2016. March 2017 I started experiencing problems with headlights intermittently shutting off either before startup (while parked and ignition off) or during operation (while driving). All other electrical systems seemed fine including amber running lights, tail-lights, turn signals, and brake lights. Took vehicle to mechanic July 2017, no issues were found. No problems for 2 weeks, then started experiencing same problem. No recalls or solutions found at this time.

3 Turn Signal problem of the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 07/30/2016

When the outside temperature is 85-90 degrees, our van has a computer glitch. It has occurred both when first starting the engine or going down the road. It has happened several times beginning July 2016. The wipers come on and cannot be turned off. There are no gages on the dash and the display reads "no bus. " the turn signals and brake lights do not work. There is no radio, a/c or heater, and some of the windows won't work. We are not able to tell how fast we are going with no gages. This problem did happen one time as we were going 75 mph down the interstate. It was truly an unsafe situation with no turn signals and brake lights and no way to know our actual speed. This lasted for about 40 miles until the outside temperature dropped. We have had the vehicle to the dealer 6 times for a total of over 40 days in the last three months. They were able to duplicate the error one time for about 20 seconds but the problem resolved before the tech could get the scanner hooked up. The tipm and another module have been replaced but the problem continues to occur. Chrysler customer care has closed our claim, saying that because they cannot duplicate the problem now that the weather is cooler, they cannot do any more. Our concern is that the problem will arise again when the weather warms up next summer.

4 Turn Signal problem of the 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Instrumental cluster lights turn on, all dial indicators go to 0, wipers turn twice, outside lights turn on and then off, and warning beeps inside. Can repeat different frequency time, but usually every few seconds. Some warning lights remain on, especially brake warnings and airbag. 2 dealers reviewed and recognized issue but stated did not know what to do. Rarely, after start-up only brake light and airbag warnings stay on and no other light issue. First dealer replaced instrument cluster and improved by no left dial issue, but warning lights still occur. All warning lights, center dial, and right dial, lights, and wiper issues still occur. Dealer checked and noted programming issue but informed nothing can do. Now occurs more often. All brake warning lights now always show after beginning to drive. Then all other warning lights, and so on, begin as noted. Recorded and attached. Frequency has increased. If I turn outside lights on, lights will not turn off when issue occurs but turn signal still stops when I have them on. Other drivers then do not know if I am turning. Airbag, brake, fuel lights, wipers, and outside lights worry me since everything shows warning or stops while driving, as frequent as every few seconds during entire drive. Is one of the issues real or are they all pretend due to the vehicle issue? occurs all speeds, temperatures, and so on.

5 Turn Signal problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

Power locks malfunctioning, lights go on and off on their own, driving at night dangerous. Something wrong with electronic systems. Work one time than they dont. Now my lights want to stay on or come on randomly n I end up with dead battery. Locks dangerous when you can't unlock rear door to get child out. Turn signal doesn't turn off on its own. Stalls after filling fuel tank. Power drivers seat has stooped working properly slso, I'm short and would rather not have to sit on top of sir bag but not all of the adjustment functions are working properly. So can't tilt seat instead I have to sit on top of air bag, at a weight of 129 n under 5 feet tall I sure hope that sir bag never deploys on me.

6 Turn Signal problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 03/20/2015

When this incident ocurred, I was driving 20 mph in a school zone and my daughter was in the van with me. All the electrical instrumentation suddenly turned off. The van continued to move forward, but the turn signals, dash instrument panel, windows, locks, etc. All failed to work. I thought a fuse had blown or something. I pulled off the road and parked, but the van would only turn part way off. The motor stopped running, but the key indicated that the motor was still on. The key would not turn counter clockwise, or "off" past the "on" designation marked on the ignition. The key would not release/come out of the ignition. Since I could not get the key out of the ignition, I tried to start the van. It would not start. My husband came out and tried to jump start it, thinking it might be a problem with the battery. This was unsuccessful. I had called a local mechanic from the car, and with his help my husband was able to get the van started. He drove it to the mechanic's shop. The mechanic looked at the "codes" and said it looked like it was under recall. He was able to get the key to release and my husband drove the van to the local Dodge dealership. The dealership told him that our van was part of an ignition recall and that Dodge would have the parts replaced. We have been waiting more than two weeks now, and still the dealer says the parts are not available. I am afraid to drive the van. I transport my children and children in a carpool. I cannot risk their safety, and I have no car to drive to work. The first week without the van, I borrowed a car. I was on vacation for the next week. I believed Dodge would have the parts to fix my van in those two weeks. Dodge has still not fixed my van. If these problems cause a wreck, will the airbags even deploy? it is apalling that Dodge expects me to drive my family around in an unsafe vehicle.

7 Turn Signal problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 03/18/2013

Courtesy lamp socket melted needing replacement. More recently, the right rear turn signal failed. When I replaced the lamp, I noticed that both sides the socket assembly had melted. The replacement bulb is not able to function as the contacts are not able to connect. The entire assembly needs to be replaced.

8 Turn Signal problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/02/2012

Rear passenger wheel gets extremely hot while driving. It appears that the caliper may be locking up. The rear wheel on the driver side also makes a high pitched whine, which is intermittent and usually goes away by tapping the brake pedal. We took it to the dealer and they said we needed a rear brake job. However, I believe this is due to defective calipers which are not releasing the pads from the rotors. The rear brakes on every car I have owned always last significantly longer than the front. The fact that the rear pads are worn excessively while front are not indicates a defect in the rear brake assembly. The ignition was repaired as part of a recall. However, after starting the car, the key does not return to the "on" position. This allows the car to run and be driven, however none of my lights or directionals work. I can wiggle the key to get it into the correct position, but sometimes it is not obvious that the key is in the wrong position. This results in me driving without headlights in the rain and thinking that I am signaling properly in turns when in fact everything is off.

9 Turn Signal problem of the 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

Air bag light stays on, when I use turn signal to turn left the right one comes on and vice versa, one head light will come on and after a while the other one will turn itself on, went out one night to eat and when entering the van with the automatic unlock key the security alarm went off nothing worked what we did so we had to unhook the battery for 20 mins. I was told that weird things happen when the clock spring goes bad. I was told that all 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan's had recalls on the clock spring and when I called the Dodge dealer close to me I was told my VIN wasn't in the system and they refused to repair the problem.

17 Turn Signal problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/18/2008

Our 2008 Grand Caravan has been in the dealership for repair 7 times since purchase. The last occurrence almost caused my wife to be in an accident. The turn signals of the vehicle stopped working. Along with that the windows would not function nor would the ac. She had to restart the van twice to get the turn signals working again. While driving to the dealership for service, the vehicle shut off and restarted on its own while in motion. The dealer determined that it was the ignition node and replaced on 6-19-08. We have requested a buy back due to safety issues but have not been granted one at this time.

18 Turn Signal problem of the 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 05/18/2008

I have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan with 70k miles. Over the last year or so, the turn signals have intermittently failed, usually the left signal. Sometimes the signals won't work when first applied, but then suddenly start working again. I finally traced the problem to the "turn signal/emergency flasher" module, Chrysler part # 4686190. The module itself is fine, but through road vibration the module loses full contact with its receptacle. Because the module is plugged into a fuse block sideways, the part is fairly large, and not balanced, the design contributes to the module breaking contact with its receptacle. I have heard of other Chrysler owners experiencing the same problem.
