Six problems related to air bag not deploy have been reported for the 1997 Dodge Intrepid. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving 30-35 mph, consumer ran head-on into a pole, drivers side air bag did not deploy, however passengers side airbag did deploy, contacted dealer, and they were not willing to do anything. . Consumer suffered injuries.
The insured was involved in a rear end collision, in which the airbags failed to deploy and also the seat belt released, there were 4 injuries. (claim#52-2499-839).
Vehicle was struck from rear at approximately 45 mph while at a stop position, air bags did not deploy/seat belt failed to lock, and driver's seat collapsed backward. Dealer/ manufacturer notified.
While driving about 30 mph on a wet snow surface lost control of vehicle, crashing into a utility pole head-on first, and air bags did not deploy. Vehicle was totaled.
Airbag sensor is located behind front bumper which is lower than normal. Therefore, when consumer was involved in accident , hit vehicle with a 35 mph impact,the rear end of the other vehicle bypassed the airbag sensor, causing dual airbags not to deploy even with $5,000 worth of damage to front end. Manufacturer claimed there was no design defect.
Consumer was involved in an accident that caused $8000 worth of damage to front end side of vehicle, which included damnages to the airbag sensor. But the dual airbags did not deploy.
