Four problems related to front air bag have been reported for the 1997 Dodge Intrepid. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer was traveling about 35-40mph hit a ditch head-on. Vehicle turned on its side, and front airbags didn't deploy. Dealer will be contacted.
While driving at about 40mph on a dirt road, that has been known for bad spots, consumer hita bad spot and car started fishtailing and hit a ditch head-on, spun around in opposite direction, and hit and embankment. Car landed on its side, upon impact, airbags didn't deploy.
When consumer applies brakes they are hard. Also, when he applies brakes in sudden stop, they don't engage. Front end dips when consumer brakes, and there is a clanking noise coming from the front of the car while driving 25 to 30mph. Airbags didn't deploy when consumer had an accident while driving 30mph.
On the passenger side dashboard air bag cover is curling up, and in the upper left corner, air bag can be seen.
