Alternator/generator/regulator Problems of Dodge Intrepid

We bought a 2002 used in 2005. It ran okay, thoughe h the oil pressure light and engine light would come on when idling. We were assured by the dealer we bought it from that it was just sensor and not to worry. Had some small problems with it, nothing too major. They just seemed to happen all the time. Then in 3/09 the alternator and water pump went out for the 2nd time, and even after repair the car would over heat out of no where and without warning. Continued to have the problems with the oil pressure light and engine light. Should have gotten rid of it then, but didn't have the money for a new car. Then in 11/09 the car did the overheat for no reason while my husband was going 70 mph on the highway, thank god there wasn't an accident. The gauges didn't indicate anything, all of them including the spedometer went to 0. It started gushing water and antifreeze. The engine is shot, it is now a gold lawn ornament. We maintained the car, oil changes every 3000mi etc. Was told its due to "sludge" in the engine and that its a common problem with Dodges 2. 7 engines. Wish I would've known this before I bought the car, and I wish someone would do something about the ton yard ornament I now have.

Contact states when she starting the vehicle there was a loud noise. The dealership said it was the oil gasket, alternator idler pulley, and the air conditioner idler pulley. She has not contacted the manufacturer. She contacted dealer about the extended warranty. They stated the parts for her vehicle was not covered by her warranty. The dealership will repair the vehicle at contact's expense.

Purchased car in sept. 2002 ran great till June 2003. Car shuts of when driving. I will be driving on the beltway 55mph and car will just shut off no warning no check engine light nothing. It has been towed 4 times to 3 different garages. No one can find anything wrong. Have replaced battery, altinater, 2 sensors sofar. No codes are sent to computer when car acts up. I feel this is a hazard and an accident waiting to happen.

I bought this car on 3/2002. Since I bought it I have replaced the starter three times; had a full front end replacement; new engine put in; new transmission; studs broke from the front tire and while the tire was rolling down the road my card was skidding down the road with my 2 month old granddaughter in the car. Now the electronic system is completely screwed up and the car is not even running. I have all my paperwork where the repairs were done. I believe that Chrysler needs to replace this vehicle "no questions asked" because we have spent over $6,000 fixing this piece of junk.

Rear passenger's side power window is dead and has failed. When electronic cooling fans for engine turn on automatically as they should during certain engine temperatures front headlights noticeably dim almost looking like they are being flashed for a second or what someone could interoperate as the driver flashing his lights. Headlights also seem to dim slightly when rolling down two windows at the same time. I purchased a professional battery and alternator tester has shown that the vehicles battery and alternator are working as normal. This makes me wonder about the vehicle's electrical system.

Purchased a 2000 Dodge Intrepid from dadeland Dodge in miami, FL. The car is qualified for the lemon law 3 months after purchase, but unaware of such a law and never filed. Now it is too late. It is now I decided to take action since the engine blew on 04/12/03. My brother in law was driving and the engine just stopped without warning. I called for a tow truck to be taken to the dealer. The car has about 65,000 miles, and the extended warranty should have covered the repairs; however, the dealer declined. I ended up paying $2,714. 87 to get the engine rebuilt. In addition, I also don't have a car for 2 months, and disputed with the dealer and extended warranty company during that span.
