Over usage of oil. Could not make it from one oil change to the next. Took it in faithfully every 3 months. Fans went out. Faulty intake replaced. A/c went out, drivers side window falls off track. Motor out in drives side back window. Passenger side door sticks and wont open. Engine blows. All major repairs occurred within a four month period, the minor items have been occurring for approx. A year. The car has low miles. I can no longer have repairs made to this vehicle and make payments at the same time. I will return it to the bank. It has been in and out of the shop for the past four months.

I kept smelling something hot when the headlights were on. When the low beams quit working, I removed the cover from the steering column since that is where the smell seemed to originate and it often felt hot. I found the wire to the low beam terminal of the dimmer switch had overheated burning off about an inch of insulation and damaging both the switch and the connector on the wiring harness. I have purchased a new switch and am preparing to repair the connector.

The multifuntion switch that controls the headlights and wipers started to smoke and burned out. My winshield wipers came on and I lost my low beam headlight. In the process of replacing the switch I found the wiring and plug to be burned and melted. One wire had about 3/4 inch insulation missing. The multifunction switch and wire lume now have to be replaced at a cost of $200.

Since buying the vehicle in 1998, I have experienced issue with: electrical interior and exterior lights going on and off while driving (dealer has not been able to locate problem) rack and pinion had to replace at 36,000 miles I have to replace the brakes every year, they constantly are making a grinding noise. Have had to replace power window mechanism on driver side when first bought vehicle, now the automatic power down on drive side is not working as well as not being able to use power unlock and lock for rear driver passenger door. Automatic transmission leak from hose, have had to replace hose.
The front power windows fell down without using the controls. There were fuse/wiring shortages, headlight/interior light flickered without warning, the belts, main power train, a/c belt, and the compressor caught fire and the power steering had become inoperative. The doors did not close properly.
Airconditioner came on by itself again - recurring problem over last 4 years. The interior of the car filled with smoke from the a/c vents. A few seconds later the rightside dashboard burst in to flames. Recurring dashboard, electrical & a/c problems. Vehicle has been for in for repairs 8 times in 4yrs same problem/.
Interior electrical light system has failed completely. This effected dome light,/sunroof switch/ vanity mirror light, and dashboard. This problem has happened 5 times. Have been to dealership each time, and mechanic indicated that it was electrical mobile that was defective. Would have it replaced, but problem would always reappear.
Was driving vehicle when entire instrument panel quit functioning. This happened after vehicle has warmed up for a while. When vehicle cooled down, instrument panel lighting would reappear, but disappeared again when warmed up. Have taken vehicle to dealership to have mechanic check out problem. Was informed a type of electronic switch was causing lights to quit. When the vehicle was restarted, the guage cluster worked for a while.
Car was 4 months old - driving down I-70 and had a blowout. The tire split clean in to. Was told that I must of hit a pot hole. On 9/13/99 I had taken the car into the dealership and told them the tire was losing air. They said they couldn't find a problem, aired up the tire and I left. Little over a month later I had a blow out. I did not hit a pot hole. The tire was defective. I had to replace the tire with my own money. (tiresize: p205/70r15).

No one else should have to go through the medical and mechanical expense of having this vitial switch repaired that controls the headlights on the make of this car. This is the second time that this switch has fried that controls the use of the headlights on this vehicle and from what I'm told unless something is done to correct it permenatly, it won't be the last time this thing fails. This is also the second time, while driving. That the interior of my car has filled with smoke and has damaged other vitial componets in my car (ex. Proper use of my wiper blades as well as damage to other wiring underneath the dashbord which has caused other warning lights to stay on ). The mechanic I took my vehicle to for the second time, was shocked because he said that this is a known defect by Chrysler and said I was lucky that there was not an interior fire this time. I want restitation. Why should I have to pay three hundred dollars each time to have this repaired for something that this car company knows is a problem? if I could get rid of this heap of junk, I would!! dt.
I have had to replace the transmission. The inside interior dash and overhead light come on and off when they want to. The dash flashes, when I open the doors sometimes the lights come on and sometimes they don't. The headlights automatic timer when shut off doesn't always work. The right axel on the passingers side needs to be replaces very lose. Automatic locks for the 2 back doors don't work.
