Transmission fluid keeps leaking out,I have had it repair twice and that's keeps happening.
There is a electrical malfunction in this vehicle fuses go out every couple of months, dual control heat right side does not heat, also when driving burning smell coming out of heat went, had several parts replaced. I contacted manufacturer regarding the issues, their reply was " we are sorry that you have issues but we cannot help you", purchased after market warranty and they refuse to cover the heat issue.
The wireless ignition node cuts off the engine while driving and this has happened on several occasions for the past year 2015.
We are very concerned, my wife nothing in the car with the child every day, and the Dodge homestead in florida does not answer, not forbik you run the air bag, or, nor the electrical system, you will block placed, god forbid pass an accident.
I went to start my vehicle and it failed to start again, the starter kept trying to start by clicking the battery terminal then began smoking and cause the casing to melt, 3rd battery in 3 years.
Having unexplained starting issues with my Dodge Journey -- I am being told that I need a new tipm to make my car work. However, there are no parts available at any Dodge/Chrysler dealership.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that it took several attempts to start the vehicle. The gear had to be in neutral in order for the vehicle to start. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 68,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact noticed smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the coolant reservoir was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,693.
I own the vehicle in question and have on several ocasions contacted the dealership neilson Dodge in east hanover, NJ where I purchased the vehicle from to fix the systems involvled in this recall, but to no avail. They have told me they do not have the parts to complete the repairs. My car has failed to start several different times and has shut off while I was driving once. There have also been a few times when the vehicle has started, but no electrical systems have worked execpt for the engine. I drive 60 miles to work per day on roads with speeds of 45-50 mph which creates a dangerous situation if the electrical system were to shut down. I am at a loss as to how to proceed and how that NHTSA can be of assistance to me.
Periodically car will not start. Turn the ignition key and would click. Would try several times. After waiting for sometimes an hour or more, car would start. Thought related to ignition recall. Finally had ignition replaced. Within next day, didn't start again. Took to Dodge dealer. They replaced ignition again. Still periodically not starting. Turn key and it will click but not start. After several trys, it will start. Also, airbag warning light came on. Took back to dealer. Dodge dealer had for a week. Finally said its a faulty tipm. Saw there is a class action suit and several complaints.
I received a recall notice for my vehicle back in 2013 or 2014 regarding the wireless ignition node (win) module. Chrysler recall number l25 NHTSA recall number 11v-139. Recall date March 1, 2011. I have had my vehicle completely shut off on several different occasions which has almost gotten me in a wreck. I have been fortunate to be able to get out of the way of traffic but the last two times this has happened I was barely able to avoid an accident. One time I was driving on a toll road in austin, texas and going over a bridge and had to pull as close to the center cement wall as possible and restart my vehicle and hurry to get out of traffic before I was hit. This last time that it happened I was driving on my way to work on again a busy 4 lane road and was able to pull into an entrance of an apartment complex and restart my vehicle. Both times it has been a close call. My local Dodge dealership keeps telling me that there is currently no replacement part available. This is becoming very frustrating and also very scary at the same time. Can you please advise me as to when this replacement part might be available. Like it said I have.
I've already complained about this issue at least 3 times. When trying to start the car it will not start. Nothing happens. The only ways to get the car started at that point moving the battery around, removing and putting the battery cables on the battery (to reset it), and put the car in neutral and turn the key. So you tell me, does this car need to be recalled??? I'm still paying on this pos (piece of shit) which makes no sense. I need this car recalled and money be returned. I've been complaining about this car since 2009, will I ever get assistance???.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (ignition switch), however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact tried to restart the vehicle and the vehicle would not start. The failure recurred on multiple occasions and the vehicle was towed to a independent mechanic, was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified, and the approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Rw.
I have complained several times about these isssues with this stupid car, and its crazy that im still paying for it!!! the car was purchased brand spanking new and ive been having the same dam issues since day one. When I put the key fob in the starter switch the car goes dead. The only way the freaking car will start is by try to put the car in neutral. If that doesnt work then I move the battery around until I hear a click for a connection. If these dont work I disconnect the negative and positive on the battery. Eventually the car will start after spending an hour or so trying to get it started. Im disabled and truly have an extremely hard time with this car. This entire car should be recalled!!! the other issue is that the alarm doesn't work. Once the alarm goes off, the key fob will not open the car and will not turn the alarm off. Also the "key within the fob" doesn't open the car door when the alarm is on. All I can ask is that you help all of us who are having these crazy issues!!! do something dammit!!!.
I was driving along a 4 lane highway, hit a bump and the ignition turn off. I was in the inside lane and had to maneuver my vehicle across two lanes to the side of the road so I could put the vehicle in park so I could restart the car.
I'm writing to complain that my 2009 Dodge Journey has been issued a recall for the ignition switch. The vehicle will shut down completely. Despite the fact this represents a significant safety hazard and this recall was initiated almost 7 months ago, Chrysler still does not have the necessary parts to make the repair. I have contacted them on a number of occasions and they have no solution or can offer an alternative to driving this dangerous vehicle. We don't have the option to stop using the Journey. What responsibility does Chrysler have to make these ignition parts available in expeditious manner? I would assume there must be a time limit to make these recall repairs. Every day I drive the Journey is like driving a bomb-you never know when it will go off.
I've completed a complaint form before (earlier this year) regarding serious issues with the engine. Since purchasing the car the issues with the engine has never been fixed. When starting the car the engine will not turn over to start. Some times when turning the key fob the engine has no sound and there are no lights on the dashboard. Other times the engine will click 5 - 10 times before finally starting. There is also issues with the battery. Since 2008 the battery has been replaced 5 or 6 times - something is draining the battery. I've brought the car to 2 separate dealers and a mechanic for these issues. The dealerships could not find why these things are happening. The mechanic thinks its the alternator or starter or definitely something between the ignition switch and the engine.
For almost a year the doesnt start when it doesnt want to I get in the car and everything lights up and the engine just clicks ive had the starter replaced the battery the some modual with new keys the shifter and nothing has helped im at a loss the car has been towed more times than I can count ive been stuck with my children in dark parking lots far from home it happens way to much and the fact that they cant fix this [roblem is rediculous no oe should have to deal with this I have now been in a rental for 3 weeks im sick over this I lost my car in sandy and bought this stupid one to replace that and now im trying to fix my hme and a car I pay cash for.
While driving on the freeway @ about 70 mph suddenly the steering locked up and there was no power. While I was trying to merge over to the side of the freeway( I had to cross 3 lane, I was almost hit by multiple cars. I had no control of the car. I managed to get off to the side off the freeway and happened to look down to see the ignition key turned to the off position. I dont have any other keys attached to it because I had just had the starter replaced maybe 1 week before & was advised not to. I started the car thinking maybe it was a freak thing and it wouldnt happen again. It did 2 days later. This time I was approaching an intersection turning left on a green arrow. Just as I started to turn the car turned off making it very difficult to turn and barely missed a group of people on the sidewalk where my car ended up before stopping. I had the car towed to the service center the dealership I bought the car from. This was not a Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep dealership either. I was told that rwi module had to be replaced and it was not covered under my warranty and Dodge would not cover it either. While the car was being repaired I came across recall l25. But was told my VIN number was not included in the recall. The car was in the repair shop for 5 days. It cost me over $600. The day I picked the car up I came across documentation of the expansion to the l25. I was then again told the VIN was not part of the recall & an investigation was being done and eventually the VIN would be in the recall but I could not be given a date as to when this would happen. I called Dodge corporate offices and was told the same thing. I feel like I own a coffin on wheels. . All in all I have had this car in for repair for the key turning to the off position 3 times now. Something needs to be done now before someone is seriously hurt or killed in a crash because of this defective part.
The car stopped as I was driving. I was able to coast to the side of the road to wait for a tow. Also, twice now the vehicle has not started, had to be towed once the other time it was at home. If I wait several hours the car will start again. When I call the dealership they said they are not aware of any issues and the car would have to be doing it when it is there for them to figure it out. When I call Chrysler, the lady said that they are not aware of any issues with car. I told her when I went online that the computer was blowing up with people with the exact same issue.
Our car will not start all of a sudden for no reason.
We purchased this vehicle used at the end of 2013. We had two occurrences fairly spaced apart where the vehicle would not turn itself off after turning the ignition to off and removing the key. With key in hand, standing outside the vehicle, the engine was still running. We took it to a Dodge dealership near our home, they hooked it up to try every code and every recall that could possibly have been an answer. They found no answer. We also had the battery replaced about that time. Now here we are September of 2014. Less than a year later, and the problem has become an every day occurrence. The car will not start without a jump, it will not hold its charge either. We have had our starter and alternator checked, which are both fine. Now after jumping the car, we start heading to our destination. The car will not accelerate. It reaches about 25mph and then the rpms continue to climb into the 4s, 5s, 6s, and 7s if I try to go any faster, it just will not shift. Now after patiently driving to our destination at 25mph, the car does not shut off after turning the key off. We must open our hood and pull a fuse to stop our engine. It has gotten so bad to where I cannot transport my 3 year old daughter to the babysitter or make it to either of my jobs. I need an answer and no dealership seems to have one. Please help!.
The vehicle will not start intermittently. After several costly repairs the issue persists and the dealer and manufacturer deny knowledge of the problem or report that they cannot duplicate it. This seems disingenuous since all car sites I evaluated prior to this complaint list this same issue in abundance. I also have had to repair or replace the brake systems and am currently receiving warning lights for the esp and bas. The model year is poorly manufactured and the manufacturer is not taking responsibility. It has also been extremely dangerous (multiple incidence of stranding in the middle of winter without heat up to 2 hours with small children after which the car will miraculously start. ).
The car will not start. It comes with a faulty win module that has given many consumers grief. The car has left me stranded before due to the same issue.
Drove approximately 2 minutes from home to children's school. Car was running for about 10 minutes while I was parked. Shut vehicle off, got out of car and there was a hissing sound and small amounts of smoke coming from the hood. I immediately called dealership where I purchased car (currently get oil changes done there) to explain the situation and ask if I could bring it in. They were approx. 1-2 miles from where I was. When I got there, the shop manager came out and opened the hood. . . . The antifreeze reserve tank appeared to have exploded. The shop manager called a dealership to get a replacement tank and was told that there are 50 on backorder which leads us to believe there are others having a similar problem. He is waiting for the part to come in from CT today and once that's replaced will have to run tests to see why this happened. If there are 50 antifreeze tanks on backorder, can we find out if there should be a recall?.
Service inspection found 3 of 4 engine mounts had failed this was found before any traffic incident.
I was driving on the highway, with my daughter in the car, and my truck completely lost power. I was luckily able to pull over and restart the vehicle. It was very scary and my life and my daughter's life were in jeopardy. This happens approximately one every 3 weeks. Today, 11-25-2013, my fiance was driving around a roundabout, the car died and she was hit lightly from behind. Also, the controls on my driver's side door do not work properly. They rarely roll down the windows correctly and right now, the back driver's side window is down. I had to duct tape plastic on the door. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow to try and fix these problems. I just don't know why this series of 2009 Journeys were not recalled. We are scared to even drive the Journey especially because of the lost power issue and with really no money to have it diagnosed.
On multiple occasions over the past few years my 2009 Dodge Journey will not start. There is no warning and it's become a gamble to drive my car and risk getting stranded somewhere. The vehicle will just click when I turn the keyfob and sounds like a dead battery, but all lights, radio, windows etc work fine. I have replaced the battery 3x as suggested by my local Dodge dealership but they fail to identify why this is a recurring problem. I have also been waiting for almost a year for repairs related to recalls they are unable to correct since the parts are not available. My vehicle also has a history of the panic alarm going off when pushing the unlock button the keyfob (I've made sure the panic was not hit by accident - this is not operator error). Once the panic alarm is sounding the keyfob becomes useless and won't work. I have to take the key out of the fob, unlock the door using the key, get in put keyfob in car turn car on, turn car back off, take keyfob out of ignition and click the unlock and/or panic buttons to get the alarm to shut off.
Car all of a sudden shuts off while driving down the street at various speeds. 35-70 steering wheel locks, you have very little control. Very very dangerous has been hooked up to certified auto shop diagnostic computer all codes come back fine and they can not tell me why this happens. I already replaced crankshaft sensor to test if that was what was wrong with it. I am not going to go thru all these fixes for testing. Dodge needs to do a recall on this problem. I called Dodge direct to start a recall process. Something needs to be done before a fatality happens!.
Recently my 2009 Dodge Journey has been experiencing starting problems. At first I thought it was the battery because it would start by jump starting it. Then it became progressively worse, and I had the battery changed. That worked for about a week, then the problem began getting worse. You would drive the car for about 10 to 15 min, turn it off and when you come back it would not start. After a few tries it would finally start. When it did happen if you waited for 10 min or so it would start right up. Then one morning I drove 7 miles and had to turn the car off, came back and it would not start. Tried for 10 to 15 min and even tried to jump start it with no luck. I proceeded to get a ride to work, then came back that night and it started right up. I immediately took it to a pep boys ( a national chain) (dealership was closed) and left it there. They ran electrical, starter and ignition test on it the next day and found no problem. They started over 40 times over the course of the day and it started every time. Now is working, but for how long. I have searched this on the internet and seems to be a common problem with the Dodge Journey. There is no real solution, just a bunch of guess of what's wrong. Dodge needs to recall this vehicle.
My 2009 Dodge Journey vehicle is possessed as it sometimes leaves us stranded after running out on a short errand, so after stopping and parking the vehicle for short period of time then it will not start. We've tried to electrically jump the battery but this has no effect. It seems if you give it some time, perhaps to cool off like 30 minutes the car will start again. We¿ve replaced the battery three (3) times in the past 18 months but the problem continues. The electrical power windows will not open but then they do. The fobix key¿s keyless entry does not work sometimes, the parking lights are found on when everything is off. The wireless ignition node and it¿s matching fobix keys have been replaced three time to no avail.

As I was driving home from work and turning into my neighborhood I noticed smoke coming from the back of my car as I looked in the rearview mirror. There were no warning lights on other than my gas light which had just come on about a mile before. I pulled into my parking space and the car immediately began smoking from the underneath the hood, enough to alert all of the neighbors who came out thinking a house was on fire. I saw flames coming from the hood on the passenger side as I was exiting the car. About a minute after I got out of the car, there was a loud explosion from underneath the hood, and the car started to kick out more smoke than before. My neighbor came over to open the hood after a few minutes. There were no more flames, but the heat shield metal had melted from the heat, as did parts of my engine, the engine cover, hoses, and metal connections. (unsure of the true mechanical lingo). The incident was reported to my insurance company as a loss.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. While driving at an unknown speed, the engine light illuminated and the vehicle decelerated. The contact mentioned that the top speed obtained was 25 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the throttle body was replaced; however, the failure recurred more than ten times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred intermittently. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.
