Electronic Stability Control problem #1

Vehicle keeps randomly stalling while driving. Vehicle will shut off and I have to turn the ignition off completely then let it sit to restart. Sometimes I have to put vehicle in neutral to get it to start. Had battery, fuel, spark plugs, alternator checked and they are working fine. Random lights keep flickering on the dash. This must be an electrical issue. Please issue a recall!!!! several other owners with the same make and model have complained about the exact same issue.

Electronic Stability Control problem #2

I was driving and the car cut off in the middle of the road. Tried to crank but would not fully turn over. Had a mechanic pull up to see what the issue was and he said it could be the crankshaft. Removed it, now I cannot find the part because they all look like the camshaft and my part is straight vs the l shape.

Electronic Stability Control problem #3

I was at a stoplight waiting for my right of way the light turns green I push on the gas and it goes to the center of the lights and loses power then shuts off. I try to start but it just starts clicking with a red lightning bolt on the dash I tr to move in n and it wouldn't let me till after like 5 times. . . Finally after almost being hit from behind the opposite side turns green and im having to push the car by myself with 4 kids under 4. Till this day its unknown sitting in my drive way, and ever since it has happen it won't start anymore. Never had any problems till that day always been well maintained. And it seems like I drains every battery. Also a family member has the same car and the same problem has happen to them also.

Electronic Stability Control problem #4

Shortly after beginning to drive the car, the traction control light comes on, the steering tightens up and the brakes freeze up. This happens on completely dry roads. This happened 2 times within 1 mile of each time. The first time I almost went through an intersection because I couldn't get stopped, and the second time I almost rear ended a car. I had both of my children who are 7 and 10 in the vehicle. This is not the first time this issue has happened. It happened 6 months ago, and my mechanic said the code was a faulty tpm which was replaced. It then happened a month ago, and the most recent time which was last week. I've been researching this issue and it seems that the Dodge Journey has had this issue, among others. It seems as if this vehicle needs a complete recall. Somebody is going to end up seriously injured or dead. I still owe $10k on my vehicle and cannot afford to buy another and pay this loan. I need to get rid of this vehicle and Dodge needs to take responsibility.

Electronic Stability Control problem #5

Car will not start at times. Cant put it in gear at times. Eap light comes on without any issues. Seems all electrically issues must repair brake and turn signal lights every other month.

Electronic Stability Control problem #6

The electrical system will shut completely down while driving the car. The wind shield wipers will come on by itself, you will not be able to turn them off. The cooling and heating system will shut down. During this time, you cannot use your power windows. Every warning will come on. This car is a nightmare.

Electronic Stability Control problem #7

Headlights stopped working on and off while driving. Had to replace $1000 electrical panel. Airbag light will not go off. Ignition switch, acceleration switch, brake switch, and cruise control switch all needing replaced after this was done. Egr valve problems. My car jumps, acceleration problems while driving, brakes less sensitive and having to stop feom a distance, cruise control works then stops working while driving. Window switch, motor and wiring replaced on drivers side and works sometimes but mostly doesn't work.

Electronic Stability Control problem #8

Steering column control module has gone bad. Driving down rode and starts shaking uncontrollable while hard to stop. Looked up recall and see it was recalled on 2009 but not 2010 yet.

Electronic Stability Control problem #9

I have replaced the alternator twice since we bought it. But the engine light comes on , the and light comes on and the traction light comes on. Sometimes the just flash off and on. Then the next two to three days these lights are persistently on and the car does not want to go over 20 to 30 miles per hour. Two of the four cylinders seems to be "misfiring" or not firing at all. All these things are obviously happening when you are driving the vehicle. And sometimes when you are coming to a stop sign of traffic light, the vehicle will just shutdown. Then you have to try and jump it off for it to crank again. . . . If it will crank at all. Had to tow it to a garage for repair on March 24, 2019. Replaced the battery, alternator(for the second time), and spark plugs.

Electronic Stability Control problem #10

The vehicles battery drains overnight with nothing left on. The horn goes off on its own weather the vehicles is in motion or parked. The vehicles cut off in the middle of the freeway and mechanic guy can not find anything wrong. I have seen many complaints from customers with same problem on other platforms online.

Electronic Stability Control problem #11

Car turns off while driving and traction control light goes on. Steering and breaks do not work when this happens creating an emergency situation for driver and passengers as well as the public as crash is very possible. Car will not start immediately upon attempting to restart. If it does start, within 5 minutes the car will shut down again mid drive. Car fails to accelerate above 1500 rpms right before car shuts off. .

Electronic Stability Control problem #12

The tipm is starting to fail (which apparently Dodge knew about but will not fix due to lack of reports) fuses and relays are starting to blow causing all kinds of electrical issues. The tipm for the car is typically 500-1000 dollars which is a lot to spend to fix on a car that the manufacturer knew would eventually happen. Do not ever buy this vehicle. Worst car to own!! ever!!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #13

My car won't start intermittently and often dies and often in a dangerous intersection. I have my grandchildren with me and it is very dangerous when the care suddenly dies with no warning in the middle of an intersection. Also, I can turn the car off and it may or may not start, then suddenness for no reason starts. This concerns me as I live in austin texas and I am concerned about being on a toll or freeway and having an accident because the care suddenly dies. We have checked everything and according to the hundreds of forums the tipm is the problem, but Dodge refuses to fix or recall this problem even though it is happening to so many folks. These cars are often used to haul children around and my concern is that one day soon someone is going to be killed due to this problem.

Electronic Stability Control problem #14

takata recall when I put my key in and try to turn over my vehicle it will not start. It appears that the ignition switch is malfunctioning . And I've been stuck on the side of the road with two kids and it's been happening for months and now I'm stuck on the side of the road, because normally it would turn over after a few tries but now it won't turn at all.

Electronic Stability Control problem #15

Horn randomly honks (while in motion and while parked turned off), doors lock/unlock randomly (while parked) and the headlights and flashers go on and off (while parked). I pulled the fuse from the horn so that it doesn't honk while driving down the road or being parked in my garage overnight. Recently I have replaced the alternator and battery and the vehicle will not start in the morning after sitting all night long. I drive the vehicle to work park it and when I get ready to leave the office for the day the vehicle is dead once again. Something is draining the battery. . . We have nothing plugged into any outlets or cigarette lighters inside the vehicle. Even double checked that all interior lights are off.

Electronic Stability Control problem #16

Car has an intermittent start. Would shut off as driving at times and would not start until next day.

Electronic Stability Control problem #17

I just had to replace the ignition switch, knowing other Dodge Journeys had a recall, but of course not mine, yet there are so many complaints about electrical issues with my specific model I have no clue why they were not recalled! to add insult to injury this may or may not fix the issues I'm having. My airbag light goes on and off randomly and often leaving my car and family vulnerable. My etc and traction control lights along with my engine light come on randomly and throw my car into limp mode while im on the highway with kids in the car. The lights clear themselves out when I turn the car off then on. . . So it has been impossible to diagnose but has made me susceptible to break downs and near death experiences. The electrical issues in this car have been many and quite expensive. . . The latest bill was $750 & most likely did not fix the problem. I will never buy another Dodge product. Thos is an unreliable vehicle that is quite dangerous to drive!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #18

The car will not start half the time I've taken it to the dealership and they can't find the problem I go to the store and get in my car and the anti theft light will be on and it will not crank the internet is flooded with the same problem from thousands of owners and it's still not fixed I'm tired of being stranded when I still owe 8000 on my car.

Electronic Stability Control problem #19

Defective tipm many vehicles Dodge/Chrysler have been recalled, the majority from 2007-2015. Journeys were not included, but according to the incredible number of complaints I feel they should have been. This effects everything and my car loses power while driving down the road. It will be much cheaper for Dodge to fix it then to get the lawsuit when my airbag doesn't deploy or I am in an accident.

Electronic Stability Control problem #20

Esp, bas, & traction lights on can't take out of park. Dealership replaced tipm ($1200) next morning lights come back on & once stopped, can't take out of park. When starting vehicle, I have to hurry & put in reverse before all dials are registering & safe to drive, otherwise esp, bas. & traction lights will be on & I'm not able to take out of park.

Electronic Stability Control problem #21

Purchased my 2010 Journey March 2017. A week after purchase constant shake in steering wheel, brakes and rotors changed already, constant battle with getting it started, will click and radio, lights , and all work. Sometimes 5 minutes sometimes an hour before it will start. Battery tester, alt, and starter checked. All clear, then to add to ask if that it all of the sudden starts over heating about 10 minutes up the road. Replace the thermostat, flush the lines and it stop over heats. I can not afford to fix any of this at the same time! I have 4 kids I need my vehicle fixed and safe for the road ASAP.

Electronic Stability Control problem #22

Power steering makes a whinning sound when starting the SUV. The airbag light will not turn off and the engine light is on due to electrical issues. My ignition also slips while driving.

Electronic Stability Control problem #23

I was out of town parked at a store would not start. As I was waiting on someone to come help me then 30 mins or so later my car started up. My boys and I cut our vacation short because its very unsafe having your car not start in a place you know no one. We've changed the battery. The next month I was getting gas and it wouldn't start again. I had a person jump me and took it to get checked out and they found nothing wrong with the car. So a month and a half the car did it again I was at the mall and it wouldn't start. This is a horrible feeling not knowing when or if your car is going to start or not. We can't drive out of town in it because the uncertainty if it's going to start or not. Which it is unfair to my boys when we at least do something on summer break or fall break or even winter break and we can't even go outside of our city.

Electronic Stability Control problem #24

My vehicle has an ignition issue. The key will turn back to acc mode while trying to start or going down the road. This has been reviewed by beaman auto in murfreesboro, TN and they agree that the ignition is the issue. The dealer/Chrysler refuse to deal with this under the ignition switch recall.

Electronic Stability Control problem #25

Horn keeps going off for no apparent reason including while driving dealer unable to fix which cause a safety concerns for others around me why this is not considered a safety concern and a recall is needed beyond comprehension. Aggravation behind the wheel is not good.

Electronic Stability Control problem #26

Uncontrollable constant horn honking while the vehicle is driving, while on or off, also key fob does not start or stop the noise. Been to the dealership non stop since getting the vehicle as well as a few other shops and no one has been able to completely fix the issue it has continued to return. Every trip to the dealer they have told me the vehicle is fine, erase any sensors that appear on the dash, and send me home until the problems continue to happen. Removed the fuse to silence the horn noise but has continued to drain the new battery. Have had no luck with the vehicle and now I cannot drive it because it keeps dying. There is a lot wrong with this vehicle.

Electronic Stability Control problem #27

1st complaint : when starting the car , wipers go on and wont shut off ,and signals stop working, 2nd complaint: driving home from work car, starts to shutter when aproaching stop sign then car completely shut off on its own, took me 20 minutes to get it started again.

Electronic Stability Control problem #28

Takata recall when slowing down to a stop light the car locked the steering and breaks. The traction control light came on. I was unable to come to a complete stop and ended up going halfway through the light. I turned the car off then back on. It was fine. About a month later the same thing happened as we were driving on the highway. We had no control over the steering or breaks. I contacted the dealer and they said there was no open recall so they would not fix it for free. I just bought the car two months ago.

Electronic Stability Control problem #29

I was driving on a main highway and the car shut off at 65 mph mid drive. I had to try and steer the car off the road, almost created 3 accidents. Found that the key fob moved from power to off.

Electronic Stability Control problem #30

I was driving on highway 29 going to columbia MD in a heavy rainstorm and my electric system in my truck shut off, I could see because the everything that needed power just stopped working in the middle of the highway. The car was still running but the computer system had shut off and I had a car full of kids. This scared us so bad , luckily I was able to ease to the side of the road where I turned that car off and back on to check if the electric system would come on. It did but as we got off the exit it cut off again.

Electronic Stability Control problem #31

I have not kept track of specific dates, however I now plan on doing so. Since I've purchased this car I've had issues with it starting. Of course I take it back to the dealer where I'm told they can't find anythigng wrong with it, the second time I'm told it just needed a software update, and the third I decided to take it somewhere else. I know it's not the started, battery, alternator, or fuel pump. I've been told it has to be electrical or a software issues. Basically either Dodge knows what the issue is and is lying or they really have no idea. Either way I pay a lot to have a realiable car and it's really frustrating to go into the grocery store come out and my car doesn't want to start, or have to leave for work and end up being late because again my car decides it doesn't want to start. Each time the dealership hasn't charged me anything. I've been driving my car and the engine has just cut off. I've had my windows roll down on there own. Because this seems to be a trending issue I will now track things more carefully. I do have a video avaliable of the most recent issue: https://youtu. Be/gc7xcx263ry.

Electronic Stability Control problem #32

Engine shuts down while driving on highway while key is still on,cannot turn steering wheel to get off on side of highway vehicle stop and I got to turn key off and back on to start car again and it stalls during all this in mist of traffic. This happen with no warning, I never know when this vehicle will do this, I have reported to several deal ships( allen samuel alliance texas) is were I purchased this vehicle in 2012, and I brought it back to them many times in 2013-2014 to get it corrected but nothing was done because they said vehicle didn't shut down with them, refuse to get me out of vehicle. They said ignition sticking and stalls was fixed but yet it continues to stick and stalls when starting car. Reasonly, in 2015 I took vehicle in for ignition recall but vehicle ignition still is sticking and stalling. I drive my 3 grandchildren in this unsafe vehicle all the time to school and every , because this all the transportation I have. The last times this happen was in October and November 2015, two times each time I was driving down the highway in traffic as manage to qiuckly shift to neutral to get car running as cars was coming up behind me and went around on shoulder of road, it was so very, very scary vehicle is unsafe to drive. Please help me get out of this unsafe vehicle before a bad "daster" happen to me and my grandchildren. Phone # 985 335 3544. Thanks.

Electronic Stability Control problem #33

Car is shutting off while I am driving with no warning.

Electronic Stability Control problem #34

Tipm was diagnosed as the problem at dealership. Car would not start intermittently. Recall notice informs a bad tipm could cause many safety problems. The vehicle is unsafe to drive. It has been at the dealership over a month. We used the vehicle for every day transportation family of 6. Ultimately I had to buy another car for transportation. No loaner from dealership . I lost use of the vehicle no end in sight. They tell me every day they are waiting on the part.

Electronic Stability Control problem #35

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and the steering ability seized without warning. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road and then it was driven to the contact¿s residence. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

Electronic Stability Control problem #36

We cannot shift our car out of "park" while the car is on. Instead we have to take these steps: insert keys into ignition, then slightly turn to the right (but not turning the car on) as the electric system turns on, then shift out of "park" and into "neutral," and then while in "neutral" turn the car to the right until it turns on and is ready for driving, then shift into "drive," all of this while my foot is on the "brake. " our esp & bas lights are on every minute the car is on, and above these is a lit up picture of a car w/ squiggly lines below it. We have taken the car to autozone, o'reilly's auto parts, interstate all battery center, and wal-mart, and had the car hooked up to their system that ready codes/errors and determines what is wrong with the car. Every single place could not get a reading that indicated any reason for the lights being on. In fact, all results kept coming back as, "no errors found. " when we called to explain this to the Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram dealership, they could not tell us any reason as to why these light would be on, and advised that it would cost $100 to hook up to their error-reading system. I do not want to do this because I have already tried at several places. This is another way for the dealership to reel me in and try to scam money out of me and then when I don't have thousands to constantly drop on this piece of crap, they charge me the diagnostic fee and I leave with more problems than I came with. These dealerships are a scam, and because I'm female, they try to get me to pay for every repair possible, claiming they are critical repairs. We just bought this car last year, & we were not offered an extended warranty. I know why now. 1 month after driving it off the lot, problems began & thousands of dollars later, we still have non-stop problems. Our car is worth half of what we paid for it 1 yr ago. Now there's this!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #37

I have only had my car two and half years and its been none stop issues started with car only wanting to start when it felt like it and imy turn signals and head light flashing when they wanted then my intererior lights also all when car was off and locked then the doors and windows starting rolling up and down on their own and the doors unlocking and locking back on their own and now last but not least my horn wont stop honking its a physical drain it interfers with work , sleep it wakes up the neighbor hood all hour of the nite will be at work and have to excuse myself to go outside and pray I can get it to stop! causing me battery damage more then at 285 dollars a pop for battery and installation no expects when they pay over thirty thousand for a car it is gonna be possessed! because of this car it has rained and snowed in my vehicle in the middle of the night when windows wanna roll down on their own I have replaced widow switches and sensors also and still having all these issues I can not afford to may to fix these costly reaccuring issues due to the manufactor made huge mistakes while making this car obviously something needs to be done I have read complaint after complaint online like mine there definitely should be a recall before someone seriously gets hurt and they get sued . . . Thank you.

Electronic Stability Control problem #38

Taking car to look at, ck engine light on. Had problems with it cutting off on e'way ramp. Took off all keys. Mechanic told me car was built with a defect motor. Nothing he could do. Taking to another mechanic and esp bas light and traction light comes on.

Electronic Stability Control problem #39

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Ad.

Electronic Stability Control problem #40

On my way home from work, traveling 55 mph, and I put my right turn signal on, and hit the brakes to slow down. I tapped them as I was quite a distance before my turn and it was dark. I did not "slam on the brakes", I just pressed them. My dash lights lit up with esp/bas. I spoke with friends who said it was a traction control problem. I did turn the car off, once I was home, and turn it back on - on the off chance the light would shut off, but it didn't. In reading on line, in Dodge forums, this seems like a fairly common problem once the 2010 Journey hits on or about 50k miles. I'm concerned.

Electronic Stability Control problem #41

Driving on the i95 south going 55 mph a red light came on and then car starting down. The electrical lights on the dash board came on and the car started moving over to the side and I finally stopped the car at the beginning of the off ramp at exit 15.

Electronic Stability Control problem #42

The 2010 Dodge Journey we own has just been one problem after another. We did not purchase it new, we purchased it pre-owned from the Dodge dealership. But we have paid to keep it up and stay ahead of most problems but there are several that are reoccuring and nothing seems to make them any better. The lights on the dashboard will light up and when you take it in to be looked at there is nothing that can be found wrong with it. The brakes seem to go bad pretty frequently. We are constantly getting the light that tells us that the esc is disabled and when you take it to get someone to look at it they cannot find what is causing this. It just seems like we are putting more and more money into the 2010 Dodge Journey we own. Constantly paying a mechanic to look at it and fix the most recent issue that arises from the warning lights on the dash. We cannot trade it in because we still owe on the vehicle and we cannot afford an increase in the payment. Dodge does not admit that it is a defective model or that there is anything that is causing this. I am hoping that someone will look into the 2010 Dodge Journey and all it's problems and give some sort of relief to those of us who purchaced one of these problem cars without knowing that the brakes would constantly go bad and there will be a little "demon" in the car that flips the lights on and off on the dashboard whenever he feels like it. I know I cannot be the only person that has had nothing but trouble with a 2010 Dodge Journey. But maybe Dodge can take this demon infested car back and give my family something that we feel a little bit more safe in.

Electronic Stability Control problem #43

While driving vehicle at highway speeds right rear wheel locked up due to rear caliper failing to release . Caused large amount of smoke to pour from rear tire . Brakes were checked numerous times for noise under warranty . No faults were found according to the service department . Previously vehicle has had two sets of front rotors, three sets of front pads . Rear pads replaced at just over 31k miles . Now at 39k rear calipers are seized which caused damage to the rear rotors and pads . Dealership paid for the rear calipers . Chrysler refuses to answer my concerns . Just had to shell out $416. 00 for rear pads and rotors. Should have been taken care of while under warranty when it was first noted . Clearly this is a safety issue which should be investigated .

Electronic Stability Control problem #44

When I lock auto sits for awhile then unlocks the two front doors and drops windows half way by itself?.

Electronic Stability Control problem #45

The braking system makes a loud crunching noise and gets mushy when you're on a slippery surface making it hard to stop.

Electronic Stability Control problem #46

The check engine keeps on coming on and staying on. I have noticed problems with the car losing power while I am driving or accelerating; this has happened several time. I recently had to replace the brakes and rotors; it drives horribly every time I tried to stop the car would tremble. I expected the car to not have these problems as it is fairly new and I do not consider it to have alot of mileage. I am really concerned about these problems as I drive my car with three small children. I don't have the money to keep taking it for a diagnostic each time the light comes on; if the company is aware of this problem; they shouldn't charge people so much to check the codes or they should have a recall to fix the ongoing problems.

Electronic Stability Control problem #47

Esp bas engine lights came on while driving on highway. Stopped, turned car off and waited 5 minutes. No lights came back on, car ran fine.

Electronic Stability Control problem #48

When driving at highway speeds 65-75 mph and having to brake hard the sterring wheel and brake pedals begin to vibrate violently and the brakes feel as though they are not working correctly? 2010 Dodge Journey sxt with currently 24k miles.

Electronic Stability Control problem #49

2010 Dodge Journey left me and my 3yr old daughter stranded on the side of the rd. After only having the car for 3 weeks, lost control of steering wheel, gas and brakes! the traction control light came on before the car stalled! something is going on with the Journeys cause my friend has had similar problems with her 2009~.
