The ignition fob messed up on me and won’t start the key fobs not reading it shuts off.
Park / natural switch, from my understanding there is no recall, but I have had some close encounter driving and my car just shuts off, I was told its the park/neutral switch. , have to throw it in park foot on the brake try to put it in neutral and throw it back into park and start he engine. Ugh.
Headrest busted open and hit my passenger.
1. Driver headrest was broken while car was in driveway. I found the headrest broken and then reported to NHTSA. Org after reading some Dodge forums.
When starting the auto can't put it in reverse or drive. Sometimes can't start car unless I put the key in alternator and place in neutral.
I just purchased a 2010 Dodge Journey. It has not been in an accident. This morning when getting in my car, I noticed the active headrest restraint has been deployed. I was not in an accident. The car with sitting in my driveway overnight.
No heat in the front but somewhat heat in the rear back seats have change a lot of things to try to fix but still no heat for the front or second row only the 3rd row.
Drove to the park, parked the car. Went for a walk, came back 20 minutes later, car would not start. Turn the key, no sound, all dash light come one, car will not crank, no sound at all. Towed the car to my house, and charged battery for a full day. Car same issue, will not crank, no noise. I turn the key to on, press on the brake and move to neutral, and car still no start. I use the remote starter, and car just clicks a few times and does not start. Basically turning the key to start, lights come on as usual, then no noise no crank no start. This is third day of trying to start this car, never had issues with it for over a year, and never with starting car. No warnings at all, no lights on to show anything bad before this, and no warning after it happened, scanner show no faulty codes detected. From the park waited to be towed and got home after 10 pm, safety, it got dark, it rained and unreliable to just not start.
Follow-up with the article in regards to a possible electrical problems in older Dodge Journey after a woman was trapped and died when her SUV caught fire in December. Issues reported warning lights started flashing, windshield wipers came on, the horn started honking, windows wouldn't go down and the doors wouldn't unlock. Those are of the tipm that have been reported for years and nothing has been done. I have personal experienced everything that others witnessed with 2009 except for I have not had a fire yet, I have been stuck in my vehicle for times due to window won't go down and doors will not unlock. Horn , lights, wipers, continue to go off I have to pull fuses out all the time just so not to disturb the neighbors as it happens at all hours not just when driving it. It caused a brand new battery to swell up that was caught by a mechanic, the tipm has been changed 2 times now and still have issues along with the battery was replaced 3 times so far and maybe this is why I have not had a fire because I continue to get a new one. This has been happening for.
We purchased our 2010 Dodge Journey from an auction. Right away there were all sorts of electronic issues with various bells & whistles. Most of these were solved once we purchased a new fob & had it programmed. However, most importantly, the horn will blow without touching the steering wheel. It will blow while the vehicle is running and when the vehicle is off, does not matter. My husband had to disconnect the horn under the hood in order to get it to stop. We have taken it to an independent service center and the mechanic could not find why the horn will not stop blowing. I discussed this issue with the dealership and they indicated the vehicle needs an update, however, after much researching on the web many many people have had the update completed at the dealership and the horn issues started again 2 weeks later, many much sooner. Our vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else. Also, there are no warning lamps in regards to the horn that have come on. We are looking into having a separate horn installed on the vehicle, due to the safety issue. Dodge needs to have a recall in regards to this horn issue that could cost someone their life, it's quite unbelievable they have not done so. (see below- "approximate date this incident occurred", our issue is ongoing, we bought the vehicle on 08-14-2021. ).
My horn started chriping for no reason while parked and while driving. I took the batteries out of both key fobs and was still going off. Tried locking and unlocking both with and without the fob. I had to remove the horn fuse to get it to stop. I have seen many of these vehicles with the same issue.
The horn is beeping when not in vehicle. Also when driving it randomly beeps.
Passenger side head rest deployed for unknown reason. Not in accident. Vehicle was parked.
I'm driving during rush hour and my horn goes off spurratdicaly. And this wasn't the first, second, or even third time. People looking at me as if to say, what? why are you honking at us? the horn doesn't have a pattern. Sometime it sounds like morse code and sometimes it lasts for up to 15 seconds like I'm holding it down. It also happens while sitting in my driveway for 24 hours and it goes off during the day and even late at night. I don't have anything to upload except my testamony. Please help!.
Last evening while sitting in house the horn starts going off. Then we realized it was our car. Husband went out and saw that it was our grabbed key fob and finally pushed the panic button several times and it stopped. Then today mid-morning it started honking again. After researching it we've figured it wasn't only us and seems to be an issue. Both times it was parked in our driveway with no one around it cause we have several cameras and looked and saw no one around it.
Was driving at approximately 30 miles an hour on a turning road onto a highway and vehicle shut off. Lost all power steering and brakes were hard. Had to immediately get over to the side of the road to avoid traffic coming from the rear as I lost lights as well and may not have been seen as it was dark and the vehicle is black. When pulled over I put the vehicle in park and attempted to restart. After the 2nd time turning the key it started. No check engine lights are present on the car other than a tpms sensor.
The starter was replaced. It will start several times. Then I try to start it and it just clicks over & over. I have to keep turning the key fob sometimes 20 times before it cranks on. It's when car is off & parked and I go to start it.
My car randomly shuts off when I go from reverse to drive. I can be pulling out of my driveway or a parking spot at a store and would have to turn key to off and restart car and wait a few minutes before I put it in drive. Plus the horn goes off occasionally.
The horn begins to sound on its own and at short and/or long burts and a combination of both while driving or parked all hours of the day. There is no way to stop this. This can cause severe accidents!.
The car will not start . . . . I can jump it . . . Get it running but then within 2 hours it is completely dead I have replaced everything and nothing is working from what I have read this is an ongoing issue with the Dodge Journey and this needs to be fixed by Dodge . . . . This is very very dangerous because it also will stall out while driving in the middle of the road. . . . Please please research this and make Dodge do something. . . I have had it at the dealer and they say everything tests out fine with it . . . . My 16 year old son drives this vehicle and if something happens to him because of the car malfunction I will sue the ass off Dodge !!!.
Horn inadvertently going off while driving and stationary, had to pull the fuses. Apparently, this is a common issue.
Horn begins honking randomly, most of the time while stationary and no one was in it. Did start honking while I was in it but not driving it. Parked in my driveway.
I walked outside to my Journey and the passenger side front headrest was deployed with no occupancy at the time. The little black clips are broken and I cannot pull it back down to disengage.
For a a few years now I have dealing with horn honking on its own. In the middle of the night, while driving, while parked randomly. I've been trying to solve the issue and nothing works. I read lots of complaint with the same issue on Dodgeforum. Com but again no solution. On 2/17/20 I nearly had a bad accident because I dont have a horn, I've been taking out the fuse because of the random honking while driving. This has happened to me more than once almost getting into accidents because if horn issue. I commute 2 hours a day for work sometimes more and do not feel safe using car but have no choice. For so many years no solution to problem by Dodge.
I have already had to replace the starter on this vehicle. The new starter appears to already be going out. When hit a bump the vehicle likes to shut down. I cannot hook my horn up do to the fact it likes to go off on its own. It says on here that this vehicle has four recalls two that have to do with the ignition.
While driving, all electrical goes out or flickers. The car will sometimes lose power on acceleration above 20mph regardless if turning, on highway or neighborhood roads. This has happen a few times since last month and thought it was my battery. I exchanged the battery and the issue wasnt resolved.
Car randomly will not crank wait a while then finally starts seems to happen more if the car has been off for a short period vs a longer period. I have replaced neutral safety switch, ground cable, tipm, ecm, key fob still no crank randomly.
My brother was driving my Dodge Journey I was the front passenger and my cousin was in the back we were hit from the rear and we rode over two and a half time airbags did not deploy on either side and we also substaned injuries I myself was in the hospital four days and I am still out of work to this day.
The vehicle shut off at intersection and would not turn back on tried to jump start it no noise when turning the key.
When u turn key in ignition it doesn't always start you have to keep trying,,, windows come down by themselves when vehicle not running when u go to put it in drive it won't move out of park unless you turn off engine and restart vehicle horn goes off whenever it wants too car doesn't always unlock when you use remote or relock itself all these things happen when not in motion this all happens at different times in the last few months we have paid to get it reprogrammed.
The headrest on our 2010 Dodge Journey popped open as we were driving down I-20. No accident, no bump in the road, no sudden stop. . . It just sprung open and smacked my husband in the back of the head.
The horn blows continuously out of no where. I have changed the battery on the vehicle after I had one completely dead. It wakes up neighbors in the middle of the night. My alternator is good and provides the correct amperage. It honks when started, sitting still and off and all the time. This has been going on for 6 months now.
Horn randomly goes off while driving or parked.
Trouble starting. Has. Had several intermittent occurances. Havve been able to shift to neutral and start the vehicle. Could it be a possible grounding problem?.
My wife car keep starting on its own. She was at work a few times and her coworker informed her her car was running. There's no light on the dash that would say what causes it.
