general problems of the 2012 Dodge Journey - part 1

My 2012 Dodge Journey suddenly and violently stalled in the middle of crossing a green light. No check engine lights prior to this only thing that happened a few days before was car wouldn’t start said to press clutch and start button I have an automatic engine, and kept saying keys lefts vehicle even though keys where in the car. This was very scary because it gave me no problems before we could have been on the freeway when this happened thankfully not but this needs to be looked into.

I need antilock breaking module part number 68194693af. The manufacturer has put it on a back order with around 1000 orders waiting. Please check why they are not issuing a recall when so many people are waiting for the same issue.

Moisture in abs module causing warning lights. My vehicle VIN was not included in the 2012 Dodge Journey recall but I am having the same issue.

Abs light and show it and I have proof cost back up cam don't work and going cost me more 1500. 00 on the repair check and recall.

The battery and traction control lights went on. A smell like nail polish remover followed by white smoke came from under the hood. After pulling over, the hood was opened and white smoke came from the passenger side, not the drivers side where the batter is located. After cooling down for about 45 minutes, the car had now power. The fob, power locks, lights, everything was dead. Unknown cause, need to have the car towed for an estimate and cause.

Over the last 2 years I have been to the dealership and numerous other mechanics in an attempt to diagnose the problem. Here is the problem. . . . . If the vehicle is not started daily the battery is drained and the vehicle does not start. I have had an occurrence of the vehicle not starting after a few hours. I have replaced the battery 3 times in the past 2 years and had the dealership tell me they could not find a problem. Rear camera image is turned upside down. Concerned about backing up and hitting someone.

Vehicle turns off while driving without warning, even at full speed. This happens while I am drving anywhere including the highway.

My car is throwing off a check engine light an it indicates it's my catalytic converter, my engine has an knocking sound also, and when I apply pressure on my brakes there's a delay of stopping. While I'm driving city/highway.

I have had trouble with heat every winter for the past four years. I have paid thousands of dollars on this every winter and will work for that season only.

Driving down the highway or street, car completely shuts off, causing loss of brakes and power steering. Will restart after several attempts but is dangerous on the interstate or while passing or driving down the highway. Has happened on several occasions. Mechanic code pulls dead battery but battery changed and still shuts off.

The engine ha a clicking noise.

My awd light is on and when I was driving my SUV rear wheels spin my SUV around in the middle of the highway and I almost caused an accident. On highway 84 going toward mississippi.

I have had my speed censor and wheel bearing repaired twice very closely together and it now needs done again. My abs, traction, and awd lights are all on. When they are all on, I have no traction at all and slide all over the place. It is very unsafe and I feel like my car is a death trap. I have put over $10,000 into my car in less than 3 years for unnecessary maintenance.

The passenger side heat stopped blowing warm and became only cold air. Found out by having heater core replaced that its because of casting sand left over on engine block and the angle of heater core causes it to buildup and prevent the heat from the core into the passenger side. New heater core already clogged no heat on either side. When they replaced it was Dodge dealer and they flushed everything they said.

I was driving my 2012 Dodge Journey and my car power just shut down and it won't start. The brake pedal was hard and stiff. My car is completely disabled had to get it tow to my house. I tried to start the car it's not starting at all no peer no lights nothing completely dead.

Coolant leak under intake. . Repair shop said he had same identical vehicle come in less than a month ago same concern. . Vehicle overheated and could smell something burning after hours of labor service manager sealed and replaced the hose. But says to check see if there was a recall since he had another vehicle come in.

I've seen there has been a recall on the abs unfortunately my vehicle was made a month later. My abs light, break light, air bag light and the car slippery light is on.

Abs, awd service , the vehicle loses power and stop, have to turn car off and back on.

Over the last month my car will all of a sudden die while I am driving it. When it happens I lose power steering and brakes. I am not able to get out of traffic. My vehicle will go from 65 mph to 0 mph in seconds and stop where I may be. It has happened numerous time on the highway. This week it started to happen while on main roads. When it happens the check engine light will come on for a short time and the car will continue to try and restart itself but by the time I get the car to my mechanic the check engine light is off and not diagnostic codes are found. The car is unsafe to drive and the defect is unknown.

Motor burned up cause of a pin hole leak from the radiator that went into the motor, mixed with the oil, being overheated.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Dodge Journey. While operating the vehicle, a chemical odor was present. The contact became ill from the chemicals used to manufacturer the vehicle. Medical attention was not received. Salinas valley Ford Lincoln (1100 auto center cir, salinas, CA) was notified and did not assist. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 78,000. The VIN was unknown.

Coolant was low so it was filled with coolant. The reservoir was low again the very same day and the car was overheating (as well as the ac not working properly and blew hot air even when using cold) on the highway, barely making it to destination. The first diagnosis was an air vacuum caused a leak. The problem keeps reoccurring after the supposed fix.

The vehicle was parked in my driveway. I tried turning on the car and it wouldn't turn on. All the dashboard lights work, it locks and unlocks with key, absolutely everything works fine but won't turn on even after replacing with a new battery. This issue is ridiculous and Dodge needs to fix it ASAP. I will never buy Dodge again.

I was driving on very busy highway I-270 in columbus ohio my car stop on me on the highway that happens back in 2/14/2018 I started it back keep going luckily no accident occurred through that week continue doing it I take to shop get it fixed. On 7/3/2018 he started it's again am scared to drive my car that am paying for I don't know what to do he cost much last time I fixed it. His making strange noise from the dashboard often I don't know where the noise is coming from am really scared to put my family in its because that our family car.

I wrote a complain today I wrote a wrong dates it was last Thursday April 5th that I took my car for recall appt April 5th and they did steering wiring and cover for engine and umm I started to have problems after recall on late Friday on the 6th of April which is Friday my car wont start all week I dont know what to do because no one was home and it was late beccause everybody my family dont get off at 5 so I am waiting for dennis dillion to call me Monday I had no problems bofore the recall none its not working it wont start at all ccomputer seems so screwed up the steerng is locked and brake is locked lights blinking and everything else is coming on for no reason and goes off and on and I dont know what they did. . . Bofore I did not have any leak either as well I could not start at all. . I been stuck home all week. . . I didn call until yesterday they were closed and they didnt call so I am waiting I dont know why I waited to long I was hoping it be the battery its not the battery. Seems like elctrical problem or pcm whatever is going on I have no glue because I didnt have any problems bofore the recall I still paying my car payments jeez.

While in motion my car cutt off on several occasions but came right back on. Last night while in motion my car completely shut off and did I not turn back on. I take good care of my vehicle as far as maintenance. So far I've spent a lot of money on a vehicle that I bought new. I've had to replace the alternator and also replaced the thermostat housing. I got all the work done at the dealership where I bought my car.

The heater works great on the driverside and blows cold on the passenger side no matter what you do. Autostart doesn't work when it's cold out, thought that was the point of it but guess not. Makes a really loud winding noise when I starting it,also goes into gears hard most of the time. Got the hard to find 225/55/19 tires on it and my brakes make a lot of noises. My front end makes a bunch of popping and grinding when turning left or right going forward or backwards, heatsheild is falling off around the driveshaft. Service all wheel drive light comes on often, the park assist stopped working ,taillights flickering often, one of my fobs works when it wants to even with a new battery. Driver seat is also starting to act up to having to wiggle the switch around to make it work. No one wants to fix the problems with my Journey rt making me regret getting this SUV I was practically forced into buying/trading it and when I went to the place of purchase a few days after getting was promised these issues fixed and I'm still waiting will not put my children in this car going to get rid of this nightmare soon as I get the chance since this so called 4star safety raiting is bs don't feel safe at all.

Dodge recall 2011-2015 2012 Dodge Journey purchased March 25 2017 - total loss as of April 24th 2017 engine blew during a reverse.

The antennae allows water to enter underneath it, seems its not fully sealed all around and it allows water to enter vehicle. Liner has water rings and rear left floor gets pretty damp. Saw the same water rings in a 2010 Journey. Rusting out any metal and or electrical components not seen.

I'm experiencing an odor that is coming through my vents, it smells like antifreeze but then the odor changed and it smelled like anesthesia and had an effect like it as well. I was driving on my way home from work and had the air-conditioner running (summer 2016) my eyes started to get blurry and the smell was taking over me, I said to myself I think I'm about to pass out ( it was a feeling like I was going under to prepare for surgery) I quickly let the windows down to air out the car. And then I was fine. I did not run the air the rest of the summer. Now that it is winter I was running my defrost and the same smell was there so I quickly defrost and aired out the car. Also with it being cold and turning on the heat I still get that anti-freeze smell. Sometimes when I am not running anything through the vents a whiff of the smell comes through. I had my car serviced and looked at but they could not find anything wrong and could not detect the foul smell. Each time I and these encounters I was driving both in the city and on the highway. This started in the summer of 2016 and it is still happening as of 3/17/17.

I was driving my SUV and while driving my truck stalled and I could not turn it off for several means. The steering wheel locked up and my push start button would not let me turn it off to restart. After 10 mins it let me restart. I had it towed to a car repair shop and they can not find anything wrong . The first shop told me that my oil was mixing with my coolant and visa versa . I then took it to the main shop to have it looked at and they say it's nothing wrong. I just drop my kids off moms before this happen and I just got off the interstate, the possibility of it cutting off while my kids are in the vehicle is dangerous.

Over the last approximate 6 - 10 months my Journey has had the following issue arise: drive from my home in seaside, CA en route to any destination in salinas, CA [traveled the same route each time] I will arrive at a red light at the intersection [36. 667084,-121. 684921] of blanco rd & davis rd where my Journey (stationary) rpm's will fluctuate dramatically and 99% of the time the engine will stall. At least 7-10 of these incidents have also resulted in the Journey engine bucking & lunging forward prior to stalling. The engine will immediate restart, however it will 95% of the time re-stall. In order to mitigate/prevent the engine from stalling/re-stalling the gear shift must either be placed in neutral or place into 1st gear and absolutely confirm your foot is firmly on the brake, in case it should lunge or buck forward. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- complaint evidence/supporting documentation has been attached.

Car has periodically stalled while driving 10+ times over the last six months. It has been to the dealership and they attempted fixing a couple of items. . . One was under warranty and one cost over $200 to repair. Yet, the car stalled again two times a month after the last repair. Stalling usually happens while slowing down and about to make a turn. It has happened three times while pulling into my driveway, which has a slight incline.

I have tried to get my vehicles in for their recalls however the dealership can never get the vehicles done in a reasonable time frame. I can make an appointment and have everything set up for a 30 minute fix and as soon as the car gets there it's well we will need to keep it for 48 hours before we can work on it. My other vehicle is a takata recall and it's been on a waiting list for over a year to came in.
