36 Equipment problem

I'm not sure where this falls under since I never experienced this issue until this past Sunday. My hatch/trunk area opened one minute and when I attempted to open it again it did not open. There is no way to open it and there is no emergency latch, switch or anything to open it from the inside. I feel this is a major safety issue. Any advice will be appreciated.

I drove my vehicle for about 30 miles, upon arriving home and removing my children from the car I smelt something burning. I couldn't locate where the smell was coming from and just decided to keep an eye on it. On the 21st of July again after driving a decent amount, maybe 25 miles, and removing my children from the car I smelt burning. When going to the passanger side of my vehicle the smell was stronger, at that time I noticed smoke coming from my rear passanger tire area. I have taken my vehicle to two seperate mechanics, including the dealership where I purchased my car and have been told different things as to what exactly is wrong. I also happen to be 4 days away from my warranty expiring and have a feeling that may be causing the difference in diagnosis. I have spoken with Chrysler directly and also have been told that my warranty will not cover anything if the dealership does not figure out the issue by Tuesday (the 28th and last valid day of my warranty) even though the complaint and diagnosis had been made today. I have been aware of a recall on other 2012 Dodge Journey's but according to various recall information sites my vehicle does not fall in the manufacturing date range which I do not believe should be excluded since it is having the same issues as what the recall was put out for. Between both mechanics I have been told brake pads need replaced, rotors need resurfaced and/or replaced, and one of the mechanics expressed that there was either a caliper issue or brake line issue which would be causing the burning and smoking (my vehicle is only 3 years old and only has 24k miles on it. ) Dodge has refused to acknowledge this issue which is covered by my warranty and the warranty will not pay for the replacement unless Dodge says the caliper/brake line has an issue.

My daughter was driving the car when the abs light lit up and never turned off. Then the add service light came on. The car barely stops… like the brakes are just given out. Mind you… there is less than 30k miles on it.

2012 Dodge Journey hero awd hatchback showed a check engine light then lost all power and blacked out. Battery was replaced, check engine light again came on and in less than 24 hours blacked out (zero power) again. Vehicle was towed to Dodge and during a 2 week period in the shop the alternator, battery, two O2 sensors and the pcm were replaced in an attempt to fix the issue causing the check engine light. Vehicle was returned to owners and in less than 24 hours blacked out with total power loss again. Issue occured once while vehicle is in motion. Dodge has been unable to locate a solution.

Engine shut down while entering highway but all lights still work, I was barley able to coast to side. Electronic throttle control is the issue according to my dash symbols. I have looked online and see lots of these problems. This has now happened 3 time in 2 days. When I try to restart I get the etc error symbol on my dash, car just keeps trying to turn over but cannot. I have been able to start the engine usualy after 15 min of sitting. I have not went to the dealer yet. I was hoping to find a recall since my warranty was only for 36000 miles.

I left dallas,tex. Sunday,July,20th. Headed to long beach,CA. My SUV stopped approx. 4 times. There was like a knocking sound or a jolt before each stop. There were no warnings on the dashboard, no steam from under the hood either, but I noticed when I allowed it to set idle for approx. 5mins. I looked under the hood,nothing appeared to be wrong. The SUV restarted. This was repeated 3 more times. I arrived in long beach,CA. At approx. 11:30a. M. Wednesday,I drove to las vegas, no problems! returning from there to CA. , it stopped again in baker,CA. It was towed to barstow,CA. The tower and the mechanics at the 76 gas station couldn't find a problem, because no lights appeared in the dashboard. I had to sleep at the station overnight in my vehicle. I poured gas treatment fluid in tank. It seemed to help. The next morning I returned to long beach with no problems. I have not attempted to drive it yet. On 5/10/2014 drving as normal my car begin to make a loud noise and the check engine light blinked on and off a couple of times then went out. But the motor dound like it was idling louder n louder. Once I got homeall the dealership were closed do I had to wait until Monday. So once I get up yo drive on Monday no issues at all. But the drive was very rugged. So I took my car in even though no lights are on and the couldn't detect anything wrong. Pick my car up drove ok until I went to work the next day light back on now im at a point where I don't kmow what else to do. So today to my car in was advised that they updated my computer system in the car. But now I don't know what's wrong. Transmission? tune up? or just a bad car. And if there is a recall that was placed out before ibought my car I need it fixed.

The first time I took for inspection at dealership, service engine light on. They said code was 6th cylinder and reset, and had to come back next day. It recenctly came on again and now have to take back to shop, because the power and engine hesitates, has issues going up hills, and scares me on long rides. It is now past the 35,000 mile and into my extra warranty I paid for. Tires all wear badly too, car needs full alignment. Hoping they will not just reset and actual fix the 6th cylinder, unfortunately the light comes and goes. Its not the tires that are a problem, it is the bad alignment causing it to wear wrong. Tires arent covered under warranty, so that is not acceptable to leave the cause of the defect unfixed so every new tire you put on gets ruined. If they fix 6th cylinder will let you know, but be careful, losing power while driving and the hesitation is terrifying with kids in car.

This vehicle has an on-going problem with "engine battery drain" which has cause numerous returns to the dealership 5-6 times since July 2013 for the same problem (will not start-up without being boosted off with jumper cables). Here's description of the event: July 10,2013 had to boosted off to start while out-of town, return to GA & on July 18, took vehicle to dealership & discovered that battery needed to be replaced; on August 5, while out-of-town had to be boosted off to start, got back to GA. On Aug. 7, took vehicle back to dealership, they checked battery & said battery was fine. On oct. 14,2013, wouldn't start & had to be towed into dealer & they kept it for 2-days & said it needed "cyclinder head" & said that was the problem; Jan. 7, 2014 wouldn't start, took vehicle back dealer & they kept it 4-days & replaced alternator & said that was the problem; on Feb. 19, 2014 wouldn't start, took vehicle back on Feb. 20,2014, kept until Feb. 24, & replaced module-telematics & said that was the problem; on Feb. 28, vehicle stop running & wouldn't start-up, tow vehicle back on March 4,2014 & dealer kept vehicle 8-days & said the battery drain is from fr hub & replaced battery again & vehicle was pick-up Mar. 12, 2014. I had to pay for first battery, alternator & some rental car fees,not including loss of convenient of time & vehicle.

We purchased a new 2012 Journey in March 2012 from are local doge dealer. . . Bought a new vehicle because we did not want to be shelling out money for repairs. . . . Have been a doge customer for some 20 yrs. . . All in all. . I love my Journey. . . Can't say the same for the dealer or Chrysler. . In March of 2013 at about 12,500 my mechanic suggested I might want to get alignment checked out because the front tires were wearing abnormally. . . I tried to call the dealer about the warranty to see if this was covered. . . They never called me back. . . . On 6/15/13 at about 13,000. . . I went back to my guy. . . He informed me that the front tires were indeed bald already, and suggested I go to the dealer to see what they could do. . . . I was greeting by a very smug, cocky and rude service manager named john. . . . . He told me Chrysler does not stand behind the tires or the alignment. . . . . Really john???? even at 13000 you don't see a possible problem ?? what did I pay 26,000 $ for ?? at this point john and I exchanged some words and he said you too. . . . . Ended up having my guy take care of this. . . 600 $ later, and feeling much safer, I now have two new tires on the front, fixed the alignment and also put in two front camberts. Which he thought were defective from the factory knowing the car has not been hit. . Also have noticed the when driving at lower speeds (10-30) that it seems like the acceleration seems to struggle or wants to skip at times. . . . I have seen this issue mentioned before. While my issues do not not compare to some of these others on here. . . . An issue still the same that cost me 600 $ and an issue that will lead me to another dealer when the time comes !!!!!!.

Transmission shifts with a clunk between second and third gear. Dealer installed a program update that solved the problem temporarily. Dodge forum suggests this problem is not uncommon. I am concerned about safety issues as well as transmission failure after the warranty period.

My abs light on the dash illuminated a month after purchasing this vehicle. The dealer shut it off. It stays off a day, month or several months. There is no way to determine how long it will remain off. Every time I get an oil change, it is turned off. Last week, it would not turn off. I would not be concerned but winters in michigan require the abs functioning. Not sure if this is a problem with other Journeys but before spending several dollars on repairs, I though I'd contact you.
