The catalytic converter has been replaced 2 times in less than 7 months because it keeps burning up. There needs to be a recall on the 2014 Dodge Journey because this is not a cheap fix!!!.
Car constantly locks it self even with the keys in it. With car on or off or while driving you hear it constantly locking.
Vehicle just won’t start sometimes. Changed battery , alternator, starter, etc system. And nothing has helped. No rhyme or reason some days it starts perfectly fine multiple times . . Other days I’ll go out and it just won’t start. I can go to my destination turn it off and it won’t turn back on.
While driving on the freeway I've notice whit smoke coming out of my engine. I pulled over and found that the heater hose fitting broke off causing coolant to leak.
The rear window defrost dash control keeps blinking and with that I have no control over the hvac system. It is constantly on low 1 blow power and it isn't only blowing cold. In the north east in winter (today was 6 degrees and tha ksfiving day where all auto shops are closed) it is not safe. There is a crunching sound in the dash, as though something is trying to turn. Anyone else have this issue?.
Faulty alternator.
Engine light on - detected that the engine oil pressure sensor circuit needs to be replace. Failure code zz. According to the technical service bulletin; this has been an on-going problem with the Dodge Journey but has yet to be a recall on this issue. The vehicle was stationary when the engine light came on.
I bought my 2014 Dodge Journey a few months ago and everything was fine then my airbag light came on. The my check engine light came on and it became sluggish and jerky. I have a 4 year old son that is in this vehicle everyday. I am contacting you to find out if there are any recalls that I need to have taken care of. Thanks.
takata recall I've contacted sacramento Chrysler , Jeep Dodge , ram store with updates to the appointment date and time. I get incompetent phone receptionist that transfer to a supposed person to take my information down. Yet I don't receive any calls. I drove down there and they tell me I have to call as they are pre booked all week. I go to the customer service desk and ask for a manager and get told which one do you want? I said a general manager . She replies we'll go sit over there it's gonna be a while. The treatment as if they don't need anyone's service . I would pay for the repairs and have them reimbursed at this point it's looking like I have a lemon!.
The factory installed headlamps are too dim in complete darkness. I replaced mine out with sylvania bright white lights at a cost of around $50. 00. I also replaced the headlights on my previous car, a 2013 Dodge avenger. I think Dodge needs to consider how this affects night-time driving on these models. I think it is very unsafe to drive in the dark or fog with those old lights.
Vehicle was in motion and suddenly just shuts off without power to any of the hazard lights. It can get a lot of people killed with such a safety glitch. Does it, then turns back on maybe after 10 to 40 mins of being off.
I have a recall notice and cannot reach the tyler autonation to find out info and schedule needed service. Noone has returned our calls.
My wife was driving our kids around town and the vehicle stalled out as they were approaching a stop sign. No check engine light or any other indicators were triggered. The vehicle appeared to still be running and she could not shut the vehicle off immediately. She eventually lost power steering as well. After a few minutes she was able to start the vehicle back up again and it functioned normally as expected and she was able to drive home. We were expecting some sort of light to come on so we could get a troubleshooting code but nothing. I researched online and was alarmed to find out that this problem seems to be somewhat common and there was a recall back in 2011 for 2010 Dodge Journey models that were stalling out. I have not seen evidence of a recall for later models. I am concerned that this could happen on the open road like a highway where the vehicle is going at high rates of speed and stalls out causing my wife to lose control of the vehicle. I plan to take the vehicle to a Dodge dealership but from what I have seen online it seems no obvious resolution has been mentioned. I am very concerned at this point.
Car locking and unlocking on its own, no key detected, the car was stationary, in my yard and at different stores, the car has been looked at several times in the past 2 yrs, unknown,.
P2173.
Vehicle airbags and powder/smoke deployed on myself and my toddlers when the vehicle was not moving.
Kept losing air pressure in the front driver side tire. Wheel sensor defective. A/c kept coming on by itself and the front bumper paint peeling off.
The passenger side headrest in my 2014 Journey deployed without cause. It slammed my wife in the back of the head. I was driving down a smooth highway at approximately 50 mph.
I bought the car on 5/28/15,dealership did not inform me of any recalls on this car. Plus they had promised 3 years of free oil changes, sold us extended warranty for life but does not say what percentage they will cover. Plus we also have mopar warranty of 100,000 miles. When I went to get my oil changed on oct 30,2015 they asked for coupon which neither me nor my husband knew of any coupon and we told service desk clerk they were suppose to be free. He then called the salesperson that sold us the car,and ask him if he told us about 3 year free oil changes and the salesperson stated to us he did not recall saying such a thing to us. Well, we were pretty upset by the dealership lying to us. Service guy said they would do it this time but next time we would have to pay for oil change. They did not have us sign any papers saying they could work on our car and proceeded to pull it into the bay and changed the oil,I do not believe they did any check points on our car at that point so I do not believe anything was documented whether they are trying to void our car warranty or what. When they were done they gave us our car keys but still did not give us any papers showing any type of oil change or where they are suppose to do a 27 point check. I did send them any e-mail stating I want a reciept, and I am calling them on 11-02-15 and again stating about a document were they servcied my car. This service department is very rude and very hard to deal with. I paid alot for that car and expect good service, and both me and my husband are upset over the whole ordeal since they are going back on there word. Plus they also told us they would give us a coupon on our next oil change, but they did not give us any coupon either. The car dealership is thomas garage,in st. Clairsville, ohio there phone number is 740-695-0452.
During drive the car shuts down, I have taken it to the dealer, and they say nothing is coming up and they only have had it for 3 days, I told the dealership that it shuts down when it wants to.
Driving at 70 mph on the freeway, the driver-side rear passenger door window shattered spontaneously.
Taking exit off us 12 onto I-82 (yakima) my vehicle suffered complete engine failure. The brakes did not work and had to rely on the emergency brake, stopping about 100 feet away and nose in traffic. My family to include my 39 weeks pregnant wife, sons (3 & 4), and myself were in the car. During my five emergency brake attempts I hit my head on the frame of the door. I feel that we are lucky to be alive as we had skid a few times before stopping with no further injuries. As of now, I have a splitting headache and my wife is being monitored for signs of fetal distress; all around shitty experience. The Dodge dealership that I purchased it from refused to lend me a loaner vehicle, said that it happens, and offered to look at it in two weeks; bs!.
I received two recalls on the above vehicle. The first says the engine beauty cover may come loose and come in contact with catalytic converter resulting in a fire. The second has to do with a ground wire on the right front shock of the anti-lock brake module. The wire allows water to wick through into the abs module which can disable the abs and/or the electronic stability control. The lack of functioning abs and/or esc systems could change the braking and/or handling characteristics of the vehicle and cause a crash without warning.
I own a 2014 Dodge Journey. . . Only had it 6 months! I hit a deer (about 200 lbs/ husband said it would be a 10-12 point if it had antlers this time of year). I was running about 53-57 mph, out the corner of my eye I saw the deer about to run out, grabbed the wheel with both hands and just held on. There was no time to do anything else, the roads were wet so I didn't hit the brakes hard (didn't want them to lock-up) but I did stay on them. Thankfully the deer was coming to the ground (already jumped) when I hit him, because if not he probably would have ended up in our windshield. I hit the deer square. . . His body caved the radiator in among other things! the airbags never came out! I understand sensors in cars and all that but regardless if you hit "someone or something" as hard as I hit that deer. . . The airbags should have certainly deployed. I am thankful and grateful that it was a deer and not a tree! wish I knew how to get these complaints straight to the Dodge dealership! makes me very uneasy about my car now. Obviously, the car is not fixed yet, still sitting in my yard waiting for the adjuster to come out. Not too sure we are going to keep it once it gets fixed. I have children (twin 5 years old daughters) do not want them in an unsafe car!.
Our 2014 Dodge Journey was parked for 5 days while we were on a bus trip. We returned on a cold winter night in December. Vehicle battery was dead. Used emergency key to open driver's door but obviously all electrical stuff was dead. Fortunately, our friends had jumper cables. We got the vehicle started and returned home without incident. Left vehicle parked in garage for 5 days and couldn't repeat problem. Still don't trust leaving it parked for more than a day or so because it smells like the same problem I have with my 2013 Chrysler 300c. The 300 had another problem of stalling on the highway. Journey has most of the same body and engine electronic controllers as the Chrysler which wouldn't start in my garage. I would have to jump-start it. By the time I drove the 300 to the dealer, generator charged the battery and dealer couldn't repeat the problem. This cycle with the 300 was repeated a 2nd time a week later. Dealer installed service bulletin controller updates but claimed they were unrelated to my problem. Bought and use a trickle charger now because I don't trust either car. I think Chrysler has an issue with their electronics. Hope they're not covering it up like Ford with their ignition key. My next letter is going to sergio (fca ceo).
I just bought this vehicle in August 2014 and this is the 2nd time that my hood has come opened! I called the dealership where I bought the vehicle to inquire if there were any recalls and was told no. I then asked for the service department to look into why this is happening. And was told I would need to take it a Dodge dealer for assistance even though I bought the 5 year warranty? I called the nearest Dodge dealer and was told that the hood release is to the left of the emergency brake, knee level. And when you release the emergency brake, the hood latch will unlatch. This is too scary as this is the 2nd time and I drive a long distance on the highway to work. The service guy named sam told me not to worry, it has a security lock latch. That's it I am trading it in for another make, model vehicle, I fell in love with vehicle when I rented one. But not enough to get me killed. So that means I have to stay off the highways until I can replace it.
Dvd system stopped working. Thought dvd was just stuck in the player. Took the vehicle to the dealer to fix and was informed it just quit working. Have not had the vehicle 3 months and now having to wait for a new dvd system, hoping no other issues arise!.
Shortly after refueling my vehicle would idle roughly such as when I am stopped at a traffic light or stop sign and then the engine would begin racing. On at least one occasion when on an on ramp to an interstate I was accelerating to highway speed and the vehicle stopped accelerating and the tachometer red lined (exceeded 7000 rpm's) without any change in input to the gas peddle. These symptoms have continued and I experience occasional and intermittent rough idling even days after refueling. I have had my vehicle in the service dept. On a myriad of occasions and they have been unable to repair the problem.
