Viscous unit for awd Dodge Journeys has been failing causing a clunking and chunking noise. Causing the car jerk on takeoff or on turns. From what others been having issues with is the same thing. Causing a risk of a crash of the rear differential cracking and breaking free from the car. I had to replace the rear axle bdorc/viscous unit on my car already, again from what I read from other owners, they have been having the same issue. And some are worse than others. I fear that it may cause danger to the occupants inside the car and around.
Hi, my Dodge Journey 2014 has been experiencing steering issues(stiff and hard to turn) when driving at lower speeds. I know that same Dodge Journey model and year has had a lot of recalls for that. Please verify and let me know what's the process to get this steering issue fixed under recall as this is increased risk of a crash.
When trying to start the car in the past every now in then I would get a one click and no start I tried to shift into neutral and nothing the same , I played with the button by turning g off and back on a few time and it would start and it started to get harder to get it to start and now it will only click and no start , I replaced the battery and starter was checked out and is good all battery ends are new and new battery cables , I know google is no auto mechanic but the post I have read there is a lot of Dodge Journeys that has this issue when I called Dodge I was told to bring it in and I will be charged , also about every 4th time I hit the door locks from the door as soon as the door shuts the horn beeps 3 times and all the doors unlock , need help please from what I am understanding it's something to do with the anti theft or the neutral safety switch inside the transmission ,.
The vehicle started vibrating and making noise brought it to a mechanic and was told the transfer case was broke due to the bolts backing out, something they've never seen before I had it towed to dealership because this happened 4 years ago under warranty now Dodge said it's not covered even though it was already replaced.
I bought this car used but it only had 26340 on it and now it is almost to 30000. When driving it sounds as though the motor is knocking, but the oil is fine when checked on. It seems to have difficulty changing gears, sometimes way to fast and it whines other times it struggles to shift gears. Rpms are not steady they are bouncing around high love. When it does get to speed it feels as though the brakes are being appflied. At times the motorwhines because, the gear is to low it starts to get loud and become very hesitant when shifting to the higher gears. Sometimes it feels like the motor or something is going to come offf. There is a bunch of rattling going on . When I do park and turn it off, shortly after it sounds as if there is something running around inside the motor area. I was told it runs great and haven't even put 3000 miles on it. I think it's going to blow up or just die.

The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the oil pressure and engine stall failure had started as an intermittent failure but had become a daily failure. The contact had driven the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the transmission pump and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
While driving on a highway going straight at 60 mph my vehicle shuts off. We then have to stop the vehicle to restart it. This has been happening about 1x a week for about a month. There are no codes and all engine information reads fine.
I just brought a 2014 Dodge Journey on July of 2018 and I had two problems with the transmission , first problem it was leaking then I got it fix like 5 months ago now the transmission has a bigger problem that it have to rebuild or replace waiting from the decision from the mechanic with the results of what to do , the shop where I took the vehicle say that I wasn't the first person that have the same problem with the same vehicle and I was the forth person with the transmission problem and that he is surprise that they are no recall on the vehicle so I am very upset with this issue and I just want to make a complaint about it.

Driving alone a city street and pulled into a shop and the car had a cloud of smoke, as I was parking, then noticed fluid running from underneath. I didn't know what had happen. A refund for repairs on this vehicle would help. And effort to someone letting me know why this happened , is the question.
Theres a few recalls on my 2014 Dodge Journey awd sxt that I've called and they said they dont have the parts and to call back in a few months. I just called now and they gave me the loop around transferring me to the front then back to service where I was placed on hold and then it rang to the front desks number and I had to leave a voicemail. Totally incompetent. This is at the Dodge dealership in colorado springs.

We purchased a 2014 Dodge Journey on 8/04/2016 under the assumption that the vehicle was certified. We eventually got the dealer to agree for us to bring the vehicle back to be certified and address all the other concerns. We picked the vehicle up in NY, heading home to PA and the car caught on fire while driving on the highway with my wife, our only daughter, two youngest sons, and myself. We were stranded, the dealer and manufacture did nothing including the warranty company. Although, the vehicle had factory, we just purchase the vehicle including "required warranty" for $2000, we were denied any assistance from Dodge and the dealership. We have been in constant contact with the dealer via different mediation and to this day, we are still on our own with out a vehicle that is safe to drive.
When shifing the vehickle to park it does not lock into the park position, it goes into the reverse position. This has happened three times, two recently. The shift lever does not go to the left locking it in the park position.

Bought this wonderful (not) car to replace my minivan. Within the first month, when I would put my cell phone in the "cave" under the radio, the radio would scan. Did this multiple times and eventually when I opened the doors (a couple of times), the radio actually muted,,,,they checked it out and they replaced the radio, then something else to do with the radio. . . . Butttt, it still does it. Mentioned that while driving through country roads, the read end gets loose. After he asked me 1) do you drive fast through on the country roads and 2) do I live in in the country (both no answers), they "checked it out" and bam. . . . New shocks on the back. Kinda miffed that they questioned my driving ability actually. I told them that the transmission seemed to shift weird. They checked it out and said there was an "upgrade" that could be done, and they did it. Seemed to work for a while, but it is doing it again. Turned the rear wiper on and off (light rain) and it kept going. I did not push the washer option, and know how to work a rear wiper, but when I mentioned that to them, they looked at me like I was an idiot and explained how the washer option works. But of course, they could find nothing wrong with it. With my next oil change, they are checking on the creaking sound that it makes while driving on bumpy roads at slow speeds. . . . They think that it is the bearings in my leaf spring, but sounds like when we had to replace a strut on my van. All in all, I like the room and setup of the inside of the car, but boy. . . . I have never paid so much for a lemon in my life!! and. . . . Guess who didn't buy the extended warranty????? you guessed it.

I was slowing down and turning right into my driveway when the engine stalled. I was going 8 mph when I noticed I had no power steering and the rpms were at 0. My engine stalled for no reason. I have push button start/ignition, so this is not a case of a heavy keychain moving the ignition into auxiliary or off mode. . This is my wife's car and she drives my son and daughter everywhere. I am very worried this could happen in a dangerous situation or at higher speed! I'm not a mechanic, but I have noticed with the v6/auto 6 speed transmission, this car has very strange shifting programs / "curves". It seems to shift early and sometimes when slowing down, it's like the transmission doesn't downshift quickly enough. That may be the cause for what it's worth. Bottom line, I need to know it's not going to do this again with my family in the car!.
The Dodge Journey rolls back on hills. It is dangerous and I'm sure caused accidents. I have an automatic and it never holds the vehicle, it just rolls back. In this day and age it's absolutely a major fault. You have to let brake go and hit accelerator. Dangerous. Also the radio wit maps and directions is broken for 2nd time.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving uphill and depressing the brakes, the vehicle rolled backward excessively. I bought this car on November 2013. After first/second week of use I realized that when driving the car was pulling to the right. I went to the dealership and tried to make an alignment without success. Then the problem came back and went to dealership (like 5 times) and they said that were the tires (20,000 miles on that moment). So, several weeks after tire replacement the car pulling came back and now with 40k+ miles on odometer the problem persist. Actually I will buy 4 more tires for second time and the car is aligned. I measured the chasis but was ok with no bents or damage but I tried to measure the wheelbase of the car (from center to center of the wheels on left and right side). Surprisingly the left side measures 115 inches and the right side measures 114 inches (here is the problem). Actually I'm asking for car replacement in a court case. Ps - during the first month of use, I tested a 9miles vehicle (same brand, same configuration) and has the same problem and the dealership did nothing.
Bought this Journey August 2014 , since day one we notice the tranny doesn't shift right and has bad pick up you cant even get out of your own way . , we complained and the dealer doesnt do anything says OH this is normal. No way I shouldn't get a backache every time I drive this Journey. You can be driving and when u start slowing down it feels like ur being hit from behind when the tranny shifts . Or if coming to a stop sign then you hit gas it shifts the same way . Horrible and a waste of money I will go again for the 10 th time and if they dont fix this , time to take them to court lemon law time . .
