1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2026

It’s July 7, 2025 driving the car to get to a work related visit. It’s a 14/15 mile drive from my home. I get to my destination. Coming back home about a minute on the road my vehicle begins to struggle as I accelerate to continue the speed limit of 35 mph. Vehicle is struggling to maintain speed. Then the traction control light comes on the dashboard and subsequently the abs light comes on. It’s an 80 degree day no rain. After 3 minutes the lights go away, I am driving very cautious, I’m not sure why the both lights came on. The lights come on a second time. When those lights come on the car did not want to drive. It felt as if the breaking system either kicked in or thinks it should. I started looking into what it could be with the help of father. We changed speed sensor and wheel bearing of the front right wheel tire. I had a friend run his own obe reader and it had signaled the issues was coming from that. Took it for a test drive and at a green light both traction and abs lights come on and I stuck there unable to accelerate. At this point traction control and abs light come on and stay on for half the day. I’m no longer driving the car. I finally come to terms that I have to take it to a mechanic. I take it to dealership in November 2025 they run the diagnostics on it and turns out the abs module and rear right tire sensor are the issue. At that point they informed me the abs module is back ordered it may take a week to 2 weeks for the part to arrive. My car stays at the shop the part still has no eta. On March 13 the dealer informs the part arrived and they fixed the vehicle. Abs module was very corroded per the service report. 3/29 the traction light comes on the dashboard stays on for a minute then leaves it continues throughout that week. A week later, abs and traction light on. I go back to the dealership with my concerns. I’m informed the abs module has water leaking inside, it was cleaned out. My thought are the abs module can have manufacturing issue.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2025

I am the original owner of a Dodge Journey 2014 sxt that had the r61 abs recall done in 2016. Now my abs and traction light is on constantly and I have no cruise control. I took it into a dealer for the u49 recall and asked them to look at the abs issue. They said the abs module needed replacement and the wiring due to rodent damage. I contacted my insurance for comprehensive coverage of rodent damage. . The insurance adjuster went to look at the car and found no rodent damage and therefore no claim. . . I contacted fca (stellantis) customer service center and was told that the r61 recall for this vehicle on this issue was already performed in 2016 . They told me that the recall was only guaranteed for 2 years???? should not the recall of the r61 that was done in 2016 for safety be still under warranty????.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2024

Abs recall dealership has had the vehicle for 3 months.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2024

Abs module failure for my 2014 Dodge Journey this vehicle had a recall r61: anti-lock brake system (abs) control module on about 275,600 of the above vehicles may have a ground wire eyelet on the right front shock tower that allows water to wick through the ground wire case and into the abs module. Moisture in the abs module could disable the abs and/or electronic stability control (esc) system(s). The lack of a functioning abs and/or esc system(s) could change the braking and/or handling characteristics of the vehicle and cause a crash without warning. Dodge has confirmed that the abs connector was cleaned and heat shrink was added to this vehicle on Jan 4, 2016. However in October 2024 the abs module (part number 68194693af) on my Dodge Journey failed and required replacement. I was required to pay out of pocket for this safety hazard. .

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2024

The abs module has failed. There was a recall r61 issued previously for this issue of moisture causing abs module failures. The original recall was completed on this vehicle [xxx]. There is no documentation that the abs module itself was replaced at that time since this is a tiered recall. The abs module has now failed and there is evidence on the electrical plug that moisture was present during a recent inspection by an ase certified mechanic. I took the car to academy cjd dealership in tipton, indiana and they refused to perform the recall again since it supposedly had already been completed. They wanted to charge me a fee to 'diagnose' further. I contend that even though the recall or partial recall was previously completed, the abs has failed due to the issue the original recall was supposed to prevent. I have a picture of the abs electrical connector showing evidence of shorting due to moisture. Please let me know if Dodge should be required to complete the recall again, since the abs failed again. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2024

In may after tires rotated the abs warning lights started coming on took my Dodge Journey back to dealership they analyze it and found it was the abs system but there was no part to order to repair the system.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2024

Under heavy braking conditions the vehicles abs system did not engage and the vehicle slid losing control. There was a safety recall r61 which was documented as completed 20 may 2016, but inspection of the abs ground wire shows it in its original position when compared to page 18 of the recall instruction. There has been no work on the abs module since the recall.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2023

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the abs and traction control systems malfunctioned, causing an uneven wheel spin and making the vehicle extremely difficult to steer or control. The vehicle later failed to start because of a faulty abs module. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who performed a recall repair under NHTSA campaign number: 15v675000 (electronic stability control (esc), service brakes, hydraulic). The abs and hcu modules were replaced, but the vehicle failed to start. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact was informed of additional costs and asked to retrieve the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 230,000.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2023

Although the 2014 Dodge Journey received the r61 / NHTSA 15v-675 recall, the warning lights for the electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system failure and the warning are currently coming on (September 2023). Of the brake/parking brake system on the dashboard, thus indicating that something is not working well. When scanning the car it appears that there is no communication or there is a defect between the steering angle sensor (sas) modules and the anti-lock braking system (abs) module. I request that this be investigated, considering that it is a safety problem that can occur during vehicle braking. Thank you for your time.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2022

C2200/49 abs module internal failure code comes, along with traction control comes and goes at the same time and have learned that it is a known issue for my vehicle models from 2009-2020. High failure rate and cost is astronomically high 900 dollars to replace and programming. It all started when I accidentally ran up on a curb in October.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2022

Abs module has went bad over 6 months ago and the dealership says it is still on backorder as I have read on many different car manufacturers <but they still get the brake abs for new cars to sell but not for the used ones under warranty,,,and they also told me at that time that they had other vehicles with the same problem and they had already been waiting close to a yr on their parts.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

My abs module went bad showing the brake light, abs ,anti skid, dealership checked it and said we will order you an abs module but we have other drivers that have been waiting for over 6 months now and still no parts for them and it has been almost 1 yr now that I have been waiting, I can still drive the SUV but I don't have the anti sidd system that works on my SUV,,,,but yet they have enough parts to keep building and selling new vehicles. . . The government should make them fix our used cars as well.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

No accident but around 3 months ago my abs lights and traction control lights came on took it to my dealership and they scanned it and said abs module internal fault and said to me well that part is on backorder, at least till Jan 1 2023, went by there yesterday and they said parts still not in and it might might not never come in. . . . So much for safety and what good is a warranty if they wont supply parts for the used cars but still building new ones for sale.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2022

The brake and steering failed while I was attempting to slow down to turn right. The car failed to stop and the car failed to turn so I jumped a curb and caused extensive damage to bottom of car.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2021

I had the cruise control recall done on my vehicle in 2018, but it never really fixed the issue. I wasn't aware there was only a 2 year warranty on the work done, and that would have put it in 202 when everything was pretty much closed down. I contacted Dodge and they said there was nothing they could do about it. I know another recall was r61 / NHTSA 15v-675 abs ground wiring issue which got "fixed. " now, I am having an abs, skid control, brake light issue. I took my car to the shop and they are charging me $180 just to find out the issue. I received a call from the mechanic and he proceeded to tell me the parts needed are on backorder and may be available in March 2022, which will cost close to $2k to repair. I was also advised by the mechanic this is a common issue across Dodge, crystler Jeep. If that is the case, which it seems to be since I have been looking online and there have been a lot of complaints, why is this not a recall? why, if Dodge messed up when producing vehicles between certain years, do the consumers have to pay to get this fixed? I don't think it is right and I think if Dodge isn't going to take responsibility and issue a recall on this then there needs to be a class action suit against Dodge. I intend to start doing some legal research to find out what the process is to do this. I can't believe a dealership can charge someone $180 to run a diagnostics on the vehicle when they know what the issue is, since it is common, plus being able to charge almost $2k to repair. The issue is with the abs pump and module, and this has to be done at the dealership since it is electrical and needs to be hooked up to the computer to calibrate or what ever.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2021

Tipm caused several issues, blown motor, and now is in the dealership shop for an alternator, battery, ground strap and other wiring issues. I haven’t had my car for over a year due to this.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2021

When airbags deployed, airbag at foot control panel (gas/brake) deploys moving feet off of brake pedal. This removes emergency control by operator to stop vehicle. Operator tried to stop at intersection after another car failed to yield/ slow down at intersection. After initial contact airbags deployed and vehicle traveled another 50yards until coming to stop in ditch. The lower operator airbag impeded the use of brakes by the operator. Had there been more traffic it would have caused more accidents.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2019

I was coming to stop sign and applied brakes. I had to push them all the way down for the car eventually stop after the stop sign. I pumped the brakes a few times and then they worked fine. A few weeks later I was coming to a stop again and I had to push brakes all the way down. I stopped again past the stop sign. I pumped the brakes and they worked again. It happen two more time weeks apart but the last time I pumped the brakes and hit the gas then brakes and they worked. I drove about half a block tried to stop and brakes had to be pushed all the way down. I pumped them again and went forward hit the brakes and they worked. I went forward slowly for about half a mile and when I tried slow little to turn brakes went all the way to the floor. I parked and called tow truck. I took the car to Dodge after 2nd incident and they could not find anything wrong. After 4th incident I took it to someone different and the could not find anything wrong. They recommended not driving it anymore for safety. I am lucky it always happened after I got off the interstate and did not hurt anyone or myself.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2017

I own a 2014 Dodge Journey with about 51k miles on it. Since yesterday, this vehicle has been shutting off and stalling while I am driving. The radio will flicker on and off and the instrument cluster will show all warning lights in a flashing manner, after a few seconds of that, the car will completely turn off while still in drive. On October 3rd, I was making a right turn, and the vehicle shut off mid turn. The brakes became stiff, lost the ability to steer the wheel and also lost functionality to my hazards. This morning, I was driving this same vehicle to my local Dodge/Chrysler dealership and the car once again shut off on me. This time I was in the process of taking off from a red light when the vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection. Again, I lost the ability to even use my hazards. I am going to have it towed to my local dealership within the next few hours.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

I bought this vehicle about a year ago when it only had 16k miles on it and I just found out that my vehicle had warped rotors and brakes with now only 27k miles on it. After only having it for a year none of this should be going on with it.

29 Service Brakes problem

Vehicle shuts off while driving it. Car starts back up and running fines. It has shut off going through and intersection. Lucky no traffic was coming from any direction. Car will start back up every time. Have seen lots of complaints about this vehicle and issue.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2017

Complaints involving idler pulley and brake system. On June 4, 2017, while driving on the interstate, my steering wheel locked up. I was able to pull to the side of the road and then the car started malfunctioning. It completely died and would not start. I found out from the dealership on June 5, 2017 that the issue was related to the idler pulley crumbling which in-turn caused the serpentine belt to break. On July 9, 2017, I was at a stop light on the I-10 frontage road. When the light turned green, I could not go because the brakes locked up. I had to put the car in park, turn it off and then turn it back on in order for the brakes to loosen up. To say I'm frustrated with Dodge is an understatement. During both instances, my 8-yr old daughter was in the car with me. I've only had this car for three years, it isn't paid off and I'm having these problems that could potentially be life threatening. A recall needs to happen with this vehicle!!!.

Failure Date: 11/21/2016

The contact owned a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the dealer repaired the vehicle per NHTSA campaign number: 15v675000 (electronic stability control and service brakes, hydraulic). After the repair, there was a loss of vehicle stability and no traction while driving on the highway during inclement weather. The contact felt as if the recall remedy failed to provide a solution, which resulted in a crash. While driving approximately 65 mph on the highway, there was a sudden loss of power and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle crashed into a wall and flipped upside down. The driver sustained head, neck, and lower back pains. The front passenger was suspended upside down, restrained in the seat belt, and had to be cut out of the vehicle by a responder. The rear passengers sustained bruising and whiplash from the impact. One of the two rear passengers was medevacked due to the injuries sustained. The curtain air bags deployed after the crash. The front driver and passenger side air bags later deployed with a low level of deflation and a smoke residue filled the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A police report was filed. The insurance company provided no inspection and diagnosis to determine what caused the crash. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures and the crash. The failure mileage was not available.
