1. ) air bags failed to deploy going 35mph during a car accident. Yes, this is available for inspection. 2. ) given the lack of air bag deployment, all of the passengers are suffering from injuries that would have been less severe. 3. ) the vehicle is in a safe location until I am able to find direction for assessment of the air bags. 4. ) this vehicle has not been inspected yet except photos. This has been reported to the police. 5. ) no warnings. The air bags did not deploy during a car accident.
The airbag and seatbelt restraint systems are non-functional. The airbag warning light and seatbelt warning light are illuminated. The vehicle was sold to me by a licensed dealership, and after purchase I discovered evidence of prior crash damage that was not disclosed. Due to the disabled airbag and seatbelt systems, occupants would not be properly restrained or protected in the event of a collision, creating a serious risk of injury or death. The vehicle was purchased used, and I was not involved in the prior crash nor told about it. The exact details of the prior crash are unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives.
On Jun 26, 2025 I was driving down a residential street when I heard a loud bang - it sounded like something hit my car. I stopped, got out and looked all over the outside of my car but found nothing wrong. As I re-entered the drivers side of the car, I saw the passenger side headrest. . . It had exploded!!! I immediately called my brother who is an auto mechanic and he told me that the headrest is part of the airbag system. I did not know this. He said that some vehicles were recalled because of the headrests exploding for no reason. Although my car is a Dodge, it is not one currently under recall. I am afraid to drive the car for fear the drivers side headrest will also explode while I am driving, causing injury to me or my children in the backseat. The car is now parked until it can be repaired. . . And the cost is in excess of $1000 to replace both headrests!!!.
I am driving a 2015 Dodge Journey. Randomly, the airbag light came on, followed by loss of all electronics on the steering wheel. The horn will not work, nor any of the switches on the steering wheel. I did find that this is a common issue with Dodge vehicles under recall 18v332000 and 17v432000. I was told at the dealership that my specific Dodge Journey did not group into that recall however is experiencing those same issues. I am unsure if the airbag will even deploy in this state, coupled with the failure of the horn, this vehicle is not safe to drive.
Air bag light comes on and stays on sometimes for days. Air bag light may come on going down a gravel road with a lot of ruts and if I make a sharp left or right turn it will come on.
Hi I owned Journey 2015 since 2 years all of sudden I noticed some fluids red colour under the hood leaking drastically so I parked the vehicle at my driveway I came to know from my neighbours that they have a recall on there Journey 2014 v4.
Airbag light comes on and won't go off. There’s not a reason to or it to be on such as impact.
Airbag warning light goes on and off at times, sometime remains on for a minute or two and other times goes off immediately. This happens when the turn signal is turned on or when I run over a bump in the road. I had the codes run on it and it shows up as the steering wheel clockspring. This started doing this during summer of 2022 and stopped until recently.
My airbag light continuously stays lit. Concerned about malfunction.
While I was driving drivers side headrest deployed striking me forcefully in the back of the head.

Driver seat headrest deployed. Thank god I was not in car when it happened. I noticed my head was uncomfortable driving when I looked I see it wide open!! I was not in a car accident or anything at all. I just got this vehicle July 2020! this is obviously a defect and a dangerous safety hazard!! thank god my kids and I were not in vehicle. I need the dealership to fix their defective vehicle immediately!!!.
Drivers side head rest went off while car was parked and not in motion. The passenger went off while driving on flat smooth road about 9 months earlier.
Driver side headrest has deployed, and there was no warning or notification prior to this happening. I should not have to pay hundreds of dollars on a replacement if clips or what may it be to hold device together are faulty. 1st vehicle with this problem, and now my 2nd Jeep compass has this issue as well. No accidents, just deployed.
Drivers headrest airbag deployed while driving injuring my head and neck.
I was driving down the road and all of a sudden I felt something hit me in the back of my neck. My headrest had exploded!.
I was driving 35mph down a street, not a rough road at all, not braking, when I heard a loud bang. After I pulled over and inspected the vehicle, I saw that the front passenger headrest had exploded open. No one was sat in the passenger seat at the time.
Right front headrest exploded while in park car was not hit or moving.
After being hit dead on to the back driver side tire my vehicle swung around and hit a pole on the back passenger side door then bounced back before coming to a rest. The airbags in the front and back did not deploy despite heavy impact on both sides of the vehicle. Enough to total the vehicle and cause the wheel area to collapse. I can provide additional detailed photos of both sides of the vehicle if needed. The other vehicle was going fast but I'm unsure of their speed as I was crossing the road.
Front passenger side headrest airbag deployed randomly while the car was parked and no one was in it.
The driver side headrest deployed randomly. It appears that something inside snapped/broke. We cannot drive it without it pushing the driver's head forward.
My passenger side headrest deployed after crossing a bridge on the interstate 81 on my way home from work. I do have pictures of the headrest but this site isn't allowing me to upload the picture.
The headrest on the passenger seat had dislodged without any major force. The plastic that holds the bar has cracked leaving the headrest unable to secure back in place. The tiny bar that is locked into place with two plastic pieces are still intact and the two places that hold the bar has cracked off both sides. While my daughter was sitting in the back seat and she leaned on the headrest causing this to activate and hit my wifes head from the back while waiting for me in the car.
I have been having problems with the power windows. There is a clicking sound when attempting to roll the window down. It rolls down sometimes. After that's been going on for a few weeks, my car cut off. I received a jump through my insurance. Today, my car got jumped and cut off twice. The mechanic said it was the alternator. I went online and I found that other people have had the same issues with Dodge, Chrysler, and fiat. Each time my car didn't restart, it was after I parked and came back to it. Today, it's being towed.
While driving head rest deployed and black holders for metal bar broken.
The passenger front seat headrest airbag deployed without any movement, accidents or force.
My 2015 Dodge Journey headrest exploded while I was driving. Want to bring it in but seeing that its not a recall.

I was hit from behind while stopped at a red light by a drunk driver who was going 30-40mph and my car is very damaged. My main concern was my airbags didn't deploy. I was hit from behind slammed into the steerwheel and hit the truck in from of me and still no airbags deployed.

I have had two head rest air bags deployed for no reason and without warning. First it was the driver seat in wich Dodge replaced after warranty had expired now the passenger seat head rest air bag has deployed for no reason and Dodge is refusing to replace this one. Dodge was unable to tell me if these air bags were made by the takata company. The first time it happen my wife had just pulled into the garage and was setting in the car talking on the phone when it deployed hitting her in the back of the head. The second time the passenger side was notice deployed while getting in the car in the garage.
