Crankshaft sensor failure - check engine light.
Tl the contact owns 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the gear shifter failed to change gears. Additionally, while accelerating there was abnormal winding noise detected. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to keffer Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram (8214 e independence blvd, charlotte, nc 28227, (704) 532-1050) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the transmission pump needed to be replaced. The engine on my car was stalling and it died in the middle of a busy road. Thankfully, it happened in the turning lane so I didn't get hit. Thought it was the battery, so we bought and new one and had it replaced. The check engine light came on after the battery was replaced and the car engine would just turn and stall and would not start. Had to tow my car to the dealership. I called and there were no recalls listed for my VIN, but I saw a Chrysler recall s89 that was for 2016 Dodge Journeys for engine stalling and would need the camshaft or crankshaft sensor replaced. It affects 2016 Dodge Journeys manufactured may 9, 2016 to July 15, 2016. My 2016 Dodge Journey was manufactured on July 11, 2016. Had diagnostics ran (at my expense) and the crank sensor needs to be replaced. Chrysler was contacted and is giving me the runaround to fixing the issue all because the recall is not on my VIN.
When you are driving the vehicle it starts to change gears very violently. Eventually not too long after that the car dings, the check engine light comes on the car shuts itself off and hopefully if you are in a safe area of road you can pull over, put the vehicle in park, then turn it off and on again then continue. There is no trigger to it happening, no specific conditions, it can happen while turning, driving, on the freeway, on a busy street, in a round a bout, ( all of which I have experienced) it doesn't matter. It has also been happening since about a month after I purchased the vehicle which was October 2019 and has been happening since even after all the trips to the service center and days out of work. Landmark Dodge keeps "fixing it" but it continues to cut off while I drive and transport my children and I in it.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 mph the vehicle unexpectedly started shaking as if the motor was about to fall out while the check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local shop to have his ignition coil replaced. Shortly after the failure reccured and the vehicle was taken to a body shop to have the number two compression replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of this issue however offered no assistance the approximate failure milage was 105,000 tp.
I was riding down a busy highway and doing 55mph my car started to stall and just cut off, I couldn't get over to the slow lane alot of traffic. It cutoff and I had to get out the car and wave other cars off so they wouldnt hit me. As I got to a safe area from help of another driver the check engine light was on. I cut the car off and called my husband and he said after 10 to try and start it back up and it did it crunk back up and I drove slowly home with hazard lights on and when I got home and cut the car off I let it sit for 10 minutes again and when I turned it back on the check engine light was off. This was scary for me and when I researched this problem it shows it's a recall for a crankshaft position sensor but my car is not in the recall and I cant understand why not this could have cause me and my family to have died because of this Dodge need to include all Dodge Journeys as I see alot of people are having this issue my mileage is 68000.
Vehicle simply turned off on its own while I was driving. I had just began accelerating from a stop light and in the midst of a turn when the vehicle failed. After stopping then the check engine light illuminated. I was stuck at a large intersection for a few minutes as trying to turn the vehicle back on resulted in it just kind of jerking/stuttering initially. Eventually I was able to turn it back on and drive a bit down the road when it turned off again but at least I made it to a business' parking lot. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop and they could not find an issue. No error codes and would not cut off on them as it did me. I still had them replace the crankshaft sensor as the technician said that is usually the issue when a car cuts off during driving.
I was driving my 2016 Dodge Journey crossroad and the abs lights came on and then I felt my car jerk like it was going to stall. I tried to get off the freeway and my car stalled out. I put it in drive and it would stall again. It sounded like the engine was going to fall out of my car. It would stall out even in reverse. It would only run in park. The tow truck driver said it sounds like the crank shaft or transmission. My car is only 3yrs old and well taken care of. No check engine light came on, the scanner wouldn't read any error codes. I am currently waiting on the mechanic to look at it this weekend, my 9month old niece and I almost died by being rear ended by traffic coming off the off ramp.
While the vehicle is in motion on the highway the check engine light and traction control light appear. When this happens, the vehicle loses all power and brakes. At this point I am unable to accelerate to move to a safe area where the car needs to be turned off and restarted. Once the vehicle is turned off and back on the check engine light stays lit and the traction control light will turn off momentarily. Upon driving the vehicle again, the traction control light will turn back on and the previous steps need to be repeated.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact was forced to turn on her emergency lights and depressed the brake pedal in order to stop it, the check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle was restarted. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer(freedom Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram by ed morse 815 e camp wisdom rd, duncanville, TX 75116 972-427-4019 ) where she was informed that the crank shaft and the other wiring need to be replaced; the vehicle was repaired. A year later, while was driving at 55 mph, the vehicle shut off again without warning. The contact then turned on her emergency lights and depressed the brake pedal; the failure continued to occur as the contact restarted the vehicle and continued to drive. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was given a case number. The contact was informed to take the vehicle back to the dealer. Upon taking the vehicle back to the same dealer, the contact had two other unrelated recall on the vehicle and was also informed that the failure was again due to the crank shaft. This time, the remedy would not be covered under warranty and was given an estimate for the repairs. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 32,000. Jo.
I bought this car with 11 miles on it . A couple weeks ago I was going about 30 mph and I stopped at a 4 way stop . I did a complete stop the engine turned off the steering wheel locked and I was stuck in the intersection luckily I didn't get hit . I had to put it back in park and it turned on . Scary situation . Today I attenpted to turn on the ignition and it just turned and turned for 30 seconds and car didn't start. I turned it off and tried again the car started but check engine light is on still don't know what's wrong will take to dealer ASAP.
