While I was driving, my car unexpectedly lost power and the engine shut off while I was making a left hand turn. There was no warning. The steering wheel became very hard to maneuver and the car coasted through the turn. I was almost hit by incoming traffic. Once the car came to a complete stop, I was able to put it in park and restart it after attempting twice. The first time, it sputtered. It has not been confirmed by a dealer and it has not been inspected by anyone. There were no warning lights prior to it shutting off. The radio never stopped working on either. It happens when the air is running.
I believe the 2016 Dodge Journeys should be included in the 15v675000 recall. My passenger side floorboard was wet, mechanic changed filter but water can still be heard sloshing in the car. Since then, emergency brake, and check engine light will randomly turn on while I’m driving. The “service awd” and “service park assist system” notice will turn on when I start my car. Now, the car is not registering as parked. I can’t turn the car on and it goes into a security mode because I get a “car not in park” notice. I have had the car serviced and checked multiple times and no codes come up. I have the brakes checked when the light abs light flashes, no issues can be found.
Fca us llc po box 21-8004 auburn hills, mi 48321-8004 mopar part #68194693af (discontinued) VIN# 3c4pddbg8gt242925 sir or madam, I am writing to your company regarding the lack of availability of the abs control module for my 2016 Dodge Journey. My vehicle, like those of numerous other Dodge Journey owners, has a malfunctioning abs control module. Because of this malfunction, the abs and cruise control do not work, placing me and my family in an unsafe situation. Some owners have even reported that they cannot drive their vehicles due to locked brakes resulting from this malfunction. I have tried every source in existence to find a replacement module, but I have been totally unsuccessful. Your company's response that you are unable to maintain a complete inventory for an indefinite period of time is appalling. Several thousand Dodge Journey owners who paid tens of thousands of dollars for their vehicles deserve better support. Sincerely, kyle vessel.
My abs module has malfunctioned so I lost anti lock brakes traction control and cruise control. The dealership has no parts and don't know when they can them. I also have another vehicle from Chrysler with same issue they have no idea when they will get parts and want me to pay up front before they order it. I find that wrong in so many ways. I called Chrysler and they didn't give a darn. I asked if car was safe to drive and all I got was I don't know. I don't know about you but this is pure bs this should be a recall item I mean it's only the brake system. This a huge problem it's not just Chrysler they all bought cheap chinese parts and they don't work. You need to put a fire up someone's ass to fix this before someone dies they are putting thousands of new cars out and they rest of us can't get parts. Both of my cars have less than 80000 miles on each and right only one that can buy them is scape yard I would appreciate a response back draoth61@gmail. Com.
Airbags didn't deploy in head on collision and break system has a defect in the abs module.
The vehicle started making a whining noise, also brake light came on, vehicle lost ability to brake in open traffic, slipping in and out of gear, vehicle loss power while driving in open traffic. This all began on or around 10/8. The engine light came on in the vehicle after which time the vehicle was no longer driven by owner as a safety precaution. On 10/11 the vehicle was diagnosed by aamco transmissions. The mechanic advised the vehicle had experience hydraulic pressure failure, the hydraulic pump in the vehicle went out unexpectedly. The mechanic said all fluids were inspected and topped off and look well all except transmission fluid, which was described as burnt. The mechanic explained that because of the pump failure the transmission wasn’t receiving any pressure. I found an open recall not specific to my VIN but specific to 2016 Dodge Journeys that was for power train automatic transmissions. Recall number was s44. Another recall number was 16v461000. The consequences of this recall is exactly what my vehicle experienced. Aamco also confirmed they see this a lot with my type of vehicle. My vehicle is available for inspection. My safety was gravely out at risk as I drive a lot taking my kids to basketball practice. I live in a very busy area metro atlanta and have used the expressway often I could have loss the ability to brake at a higher speed or completely shut off in the middle of high speed traffic.
When driving the car will go into limp mode with no warning. When the car shuts off I have no control of steering wheel and brakes. Thus cam shaft was replaced but the issue now persists. Now the engine is stalling and caused the steering hose to bust and head gasket is blown.
For several month my brake light would illuminate when I would hit brakes. Then the abs light and traction control light also came on. Took it to shop and said it was the electric stability control module and Dodge Journeys are known for this but it only recalls 2012-2015. Mine is a 2016. Pretty sure it should also be included in the recall, nevertheless they tried to charge me almost $600 to fix, I refused.
My car has many electrical problems, the power steering and today the engine burned out, I almost killed myself because the brakes did not respond to me.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph, the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the brake pads were replaced. The contact also stated that the cruise control system failed to operate as designed, and the driver’s side window failed to open as needed. The contact stated that the navigation system was inoperable and there were also several unknown warning lights illuminated upon starting the vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
I was driving down the street and loss all power and brake control. No warning lights and no notice just shut off while driving, radio and lights everything cut off without warning.
When driving down hill on the freeway ( 65 mph or faster) and braking to slow the car, a heavy vibration and wobbling occurs on the front right side ( tire, suspension). Also occurs when car is washed and the wheel is wet. Applying breaks makes it wobble going at a slower speed, 25/35mph.
My vehicle was in motion on a city street when suddenly my steering wheel locked and brake were hard to push causing me to side swipe a parked car.
Brakes and pucks, drums, both front and rear. Needed replacement at 19500 miles, verified the removed parts, were totally rusted and deformed. Numerous vehicles and most had 50,000 miles plus before replacement. The items removed bordered on safety issues.
While driving my Journey will stall and I lose power steering and brakes with no warning. It also randomly happens when stopping. This has happened while sitting in traffic at a red light and when it turns green my car doesn't move. Had to put it in park and restarted with no issues. This happened when stopping at a stop sign. Had to put it in park and restart. This happened when slowing down to turn left. Lost all power steering and brakes. Almost had a head on collision and rear ended with 2 children in the car. After I got the car to stop I had to put it in park and start. Every time this issue happens I have to put it in park and it starts right back up. I have taken to the dealership twice, same issues and they say nothing is wrong because they are not getting an error code.
Asb light stays on as well as a depiction of vehicle sliding on road, both in motion and in park. Milage on vehicle is just 13k miles.
Vehicle was in drive when the engine cut out. All control of the vehicle was lost. This has happened twice within one week.
Little over 30k miles. About 47 mph on a 45 highway and needed to veer right. I had my music turned up and instead of breaking I allowed the car to coast so the speed would drop before my turn I needed to make. . When I dropped to a speed I was happy with, then I start breaking and thats when I realized the car had cut off, the steering wheel locked up, and the brakes became tougher to push. It was a busy highway and a just as busy right turn that I was trying to make. I had to throw the car in neutral to restart while still rolling or I would have been hit.
I have been having issues with several things. First when I stop the car it acts like it doesn't want to stop. It will actually come to a bumpy stop finally. Another issue is that the check engine light keeps coming on. After having the computer checked the code was for the catalick converter not functioning. The last issue happened yesterday and wheni was driving my car decided to decelerate for no reason. I was luck I was on a farm market road and not a major highway. I have checked for recalls on my vehocle via VIN number. However my specific VIN is not listed, but I am experiencing some of the same problems that are associated with the recalls. The dealership will not help because my vehicle is not listed in the recall list. I fear that I am going to get in a wreck before this company recalls all of its defective vehicles!.
I was driving 65 mph in a middle lane on the freeway when my engine suddenly stalled out. I lost the ability to steer or brake, and my vehicle quickly lost speed. I barely managed to get to the side of the freeway before it completely stopped. I called my husband to come get me, and he managed to restart it and drove it home while I followed in our truck. About 5 miles down the road, the engine stalled out on him. We took it to the Dodge dealership, and the mechanic who took it for a test drive freaked out when the problem happened to him with my husband in the passenger seat. However, they found nothing wrong with the vehicle and refuse replace any of the recalled parts from 2016 Dodge Journey's relating to the engine stalling out because they insist my car was manufactured a couples of weeks before the recall goes into effect. My concern is for my three toddlers who were sitting in the back seat and nearly got killed. I have called Dodge repeatedly about this, but they haven't fixed it yet or given me a reason why my one year old car is so dangerous.
Takata recall, researching my car VIN 3 recalls flagged up and I have never been notified of the recalls my car has breaking issues the breaks work at times and not other times , the transmission will not change gear randomly and will lung forward when stopping lastly it pulls to the right so hard its hard to drive the car dealer said there is not issues with the car.
I was driving on the highway, at about 60mph, was slowly the car down because I was going to be making a right turn. Out of nowhere my steering wheel started to lock up, as did the brakes. I had no control of my car. My car came to a stop by itself and I did not have control of it again until I turned it off and restarted it. I was almost in a very serious accident.
While driving my car it would shake/jolt when going down hill and pressing the brakes. I have taken it to the dealer who said that the rotors were warped and needed replaced, saying that this was due to the way I drove the car through the mountains/down hill. At this point I had only had the car short of two months. They also said that the brakes would need replaced due to this wear. This is a fairly new vehicle only a year old at the time. How is this possible? I am told that this is "normal wear" and not covered under warranty. I had a Dodge durango previously, went over the mountain 20+ times over one year and did not have to replace brakes or rotors and in the 10 years I had the durango never needed rotors replaced. . . . Faulty manufacturing in the Dodge Journey 2016 if you ask me.
Brakes started to squeak and grind. The front was replaced after 3 visits to the dealership. The truck is delayed when accelerating and slips when accelerating in drive. This issue has not been fixed for the propulsion. This happens in motion on city streets and highway. The lights flicker when in park.
Car has 20k miles, while driving the abs and traction control lights came on. Dealership discovered that, in addition to the abs and traction control, the airbags were not working. The dealership informed me that water bottles had rolled under the front passenger seat and broken the wires for the airbags. This is a 8 seat family vehicle and can be assumed that children would be in the back seat, therefore spills and/or trash are likely to role under the driver and front passenger seats, yet the wires in question or thin, fragile, and unprotected. Furthermore, I have never received any warning lights that the airbags were not functioning and have no idea how long the airbags have not been functioning. During a google search, I discovered that several older Dodge vehicles have been recalled for similar issue, yet Dodge refuses to acknowledge the design flaw. The wires under the passenger seat supposedly do not affect the abs and traction control, but I believe it is suspect that these issue occurred at the same time (and complaints on other Dodge vehicles have indicated that movement of the seats dislodged the wires and turned off abs and airbags). The dealership wants 300 dollars to fix the wires, but offers no way of preventing the problem from reoccurring. I have also found three safety recalls on this model that neither Dodge or their services providers have never informed me of! I believe this model needs to be closely inspected, as it already has three safety recalls in less than a year (not including this issue). I do not have pictures, but the dealership does.
I bought this car with 11 miles on it . A couple weeks ago I was going about 30 mph and I stopped at a 4 way stop . I did a complete stop the engine turned off the steering wheel locked and I was stuck in the intersection luckily I didn't get hit . I had to put it back in park and it turned on . Scary situation . Today I attenpted to turn on the ignition and it just turned and turned for 30 seconds and car didn't start. I turned it off and tried again the car started but check engine light is on still don't know what's wrong will take to dealer ASAP.
I had 2016 Dodge Journey bought from superstition Dodge in mesa arizona. The engine shuts off by itself while braking and one time while driving. When engine shuts off the car looses power steering and brakes. This could cause fetal accident and may be death. I contacted Dodge tempe arizona. I went to them after it happen first time and they said no error code and it could be a glitch!! then when it happen for second and third time and I was about to make an accident, I contacted them again and contacted Dodge company. They open a case # 29588743. And tempe Dodge took again for over a week and they were not able to find the root cause. They want to give me the car back and I am afraid about my family safety and people and cars in the street. I contacted Dodge again and the case manager name is venessa x40752. She said there nothing she can do and she wants to close the case. They do not care and they want to give the car back to me knowingly that the car could have an accident again if the engine shuts off and the car fail to brake and steer. What happen is when driving, sometimes "3 times" when brake "2 times" or when slowing while running "1 time" the engine shuts off and the ignition button still shows run and ac is still working on the battery. When engine shuts off no brakes so car keeps moving and steering is very hard to control because of loss of power. It is life threating and could cause death to pedestrians and or passengers. Please help, I do not want my family to get injured or die and I do not want people in the street to get injured or die.
Vehicle stalls randomly while decellerating, braking, stopped or driving. All electrical components remain operational (a/c. Radio, gauges, etc. ) but braking and steering become difficult. You must come to a stop, park and restart the vehicle. This has happened three times now, twice to myself and once to my wife. Two dealerships have found no issue so nothing can be done. I am at the end of my options and fear for the safety of my family. Please advise me of my options before one of us is hurt or worse.
The vehicle was in an accident on November 26, 2015. The steering wheel was shaking uncontrollably. This has been an issue since purchase. The braking was not accurate. The car would lose steering functionality along with braking capacity and has become hazardous while driving. On November, 26th, 2015, an accident occurred due to the malfunction of this vehicle. At this time, the parts to replace the malfunctioned parts were not available. I have received 2 recall notices for my brand new truck. My 2 year old daughter and I were injured in this accident.
