general problems of the 2016 Dodge Journey

I bought the car in 2019 . Since purchasing it has had electrical issues. The ac blew hot air, the rear windows did not work, the center console usb plug caught fire, the lights on dash flicker. Dome light comes on by itself. Now the head lights flicker and go out. I have had it checked , and on computers nothing comes up. I cannot even use cruise control because it speeds up on its own to high speeds. I contacted the dealership, I was told I was making it up, I took it in and was told they could not find anything. I have taken video, and even have numerous witnesses to this. This is just one of many issues. Three nights ago on my way home from the store all my lights went out on the highway. It was pitch black. I was lucky no one was around me and I was able to get off the near by exit without crashing. There is no recalls on my car but on the 2016 Dodge Journey this is mentioned by numerous customers. I even contacted Dodge Chrysler and was told they have no records of any issues with my year make or model.

The car kept stalling while driving. We had it for 2 weeks and all the sencers went bad and it over heated. Had to leave it on the side of the road and it got towed by highway patrol. Also rewend the battery. Now we are stuck without a ride. I looked up the recalls it said they were repaired but I don't think that's true.

My vehicle, like those of numerous other Dodge Journey owners, has a malfunctioning abs control module. Because of this malfunction, the abs and cruise control do not work, placing me and my family in an unsafe situation. Some owners have even reported that they cannot drive their vehicles due to locked brakes resulting from this malfunction. I have tried every source in existence to find a replacement module, but I have been totally unsuccessful. Your company's response that you are unable to maintain a complete inventory for an indefinite period of time is appalling. Several thousand Dodge Journey owners who paid tens of thousands of dollars for their vehicles deserve better support. Sincerely, kyle vessel.

Vehicle started stalling repeatedly for brief moments, cruise control began to "stick" on. Vehicle does not "die" in these instances but all electrical components shut down for a very brief moment then come back on. This happens frequently and for no apparent reason associated with road/driving conditions. Cruise control also wouldn't turn off when problems started. Haven't tried to use cruise control since first instance for fear of safety.

My abs module has malfunctioned so I lost anti lock brakes traction control and cruise control. The dealership has no parts and don't know when they can them. I also have another vehicle from Chrysler with same issue they have no idea when they will get parts and want me to pay up front before they order it. I find that wrong in so many ways. I called Chrysler and they didn't give a darn. I asked if car was safe to drive and all I got was I don't know. I don't know about you but this is pure bs this should be a recall item I mean it's only the brake system. This a huge problem it's not just Chrysler they all bought cheap chinese parts and they don't work. You need to put a fire up someone's ass to fix this before someone dies they are putting thousands of new cars out and they rest of us can't get parts. My abs, traction control, and my awd service light all have been on making my car jump before I can accelerate and it then drives fine but today it would not allow me to go over 15mph and all I could hear was grinding noises! this was the first time that has happened, I’ve replaced the wheel sensors, bearings, and all new tires it turned off for a couple months but now is back on! this is a huge hazard, I have 3 kids that were with me when the new incident happened and had to put my hazards on to make it into a gas station parking lot, this needs a recall on all senors, abs, cruise control, electrical, transmission. List goes on. What is it going to take for them to see many people have been complaining of the same issues at hand?? is it going to take a serious or critical accident?? it should not have to get that far, I’ve complained a couple years ago and no one ever contacted about these issues. I just want my car safe for my kids! please I beg of you to do something about these issues!.

While driving my Dodge Journey 2016 crossroad plus my engine started to hesitate when giving it throttle pressure to accelerate and when attempting to accelerate it decreased in speed and would in then cut power to speed up and then gain it back rapidly going into high rpm’s vehicle would then slow down on highway causing a huge safety risk for myself and others on the interstate.

I was driving on the highway and my car started to jerk when I accelerated and hit the brakes. I pulled over to see what was wrong with the car. It hesitated to start back up and when it did it stalled. My esc light came on and my engine light came on before I pulled over. I was stuck on the side of a busy highway with a car that almost caused an accident when it jerked. Took the car to autozone for a diagnostics check and got 3 error codes, p0344, p0128, and c121c-00. Was informed that there are similar issues being reported about cars of the same year, make, and model that was not included in a 2016-2017 recall and that there is an open investigation referring to the camshaft sensor being intermittent (code p0344). There was no other warning lights on the dashboard. All the lights came on at the same time.

My care has an acceleration issues, I had the transmission fixed twice and still does the same thing, I been having electrical issue's, my dome light comes on when I put car in reverse, my car compartment on drivers side back seat fills up with water, front seat floor gets wet underneath mat in winter, locks on doors lock and unlock at will, heating and ac unit comes on at will the car is dangerous to drive.

When making a turn and accelerating the gas the vehicle pops. This vehicle is a 1 time owner has 36,385 miles and is the rear differential and electric clutch assembly on rear differential is out. This vehicle should not have something this major occurring with the low mileage. So far no recalls. However I have seen multiple complaints within google search. This is a safety issue as it feels as though the vehicle is going to delay in turning and could cause an accident.

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact vehicle entered limp mode as the check engine illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact initially took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a shift solenoid defect related to the engine control module. The contact then took the vehicle to several other independent mechanics who all informed her that her vehicle needed a transmission replacement. The contact then received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 18v332000(electrical system, vehicle speed control) which she linked to her failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were both notified of the failure and both informed her that only the software update would be covered under recall; any additional repairs would be paid out of pocket. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Driving home from work (about 10:45p on 7/22/2021), when, without warning, the etc (electronic throttle control) and the trac light came on. This led to an immediate lose of power with no ability to accelerate. This happened 7 times from sterling boulevard to loudoun county parkway exit on rt 7. At one point, I was almost rear-end after loosing power. This happened to me once before on 7/18/2021 at 11:30p, again I was driving home from work. I called the dealership on 7/22, because I was out of town from 719-7/21, in the morning to see if they could repair the issue. They could not get me in until July 28th. They assured me it was safe to drive. If it happened again, I was instructed to stop and reset the vehicle, which was done every time I lost power on 7/22, but they assured me the vehicle was safe to drive to a job I had salisbury, maryland on Saturday (3 hrs away). I ended up canceling the job. My concern is that upon researching the internet, there seemed to be too many of the same stories. This issue seems to be affecting Journeys and chargers based on my research. If I was on an interstate with a semi behind me, there is no way that driver could have braked in time.

Driving the car on the highway, it started to slow down; the vehicle stopped and did not move. My children and I scared but thank god help came. The lights on the car turned on, indicating something was wrong. I couldn't read the sign or understand what went wrong. The car will not stay on. It shut off, and the code indicated the cylinder is not working. I reported it and towed the Dodge dealership vehicle because the representative said it would be covered because it's a recall. My car is still at the dealership. More than two months and no one can tell me why the car won't work.

Pulling to go up bridge or highway. Tracking lights check engine light abs light comes off and on. Braking is hard.

I was riding down a busy highway and doing 55mph my car started to stall and just cut off, I couldn't get over to the slow lane alot of traffic. It cutoff and I had to get out the car and wave other cars off so they wouldnt hit me. As I got to a safe area from help of another driver the check engine light was on. I cut the car off and called my husband and he said after 10 to try and start it back up and it did it crunk back up and I drove slowly home with hazard lights on and when I got home and cut the car off I let it sit for 10 minutes again and when I turned it back on the check engine light was off. This was scary for me and when I researched this problem it shows it's a recall for a crankshaft position sensor but my car is not in the recall and I cant understand why not this could have cause me and my family to have died because of this Dodge need to include all Dodge Journeys as I see alot of people are having this issue my mileage is 68000.

Little over 30k miles. About 47 mph on a 45 highway and needed to veer right. I had my music turned up and instead of breaking I allowed the car to coast so the speed would drop before my turn I needed to make. . When I dropped to a speed I was happy with, then I start breaking and thats when I realized the car had cut off, the steering wheel locked up, and the brakes became tougher to push. It was a busy highway and a just as busy right turn that I was trying to make. I had to throw the car in neutral to restart while still rolling or I would have been hit.

While the vehicle is in motion on the highway the check engine light and traction control light appear. When this happens, the vehicle loses all power and brakes. At this point I am unable to accelerate to move to a safe area where the car needs to be turned off and restarted. Once the vehicle is turned off and back on the check engine light stays lit and the traction control light will turn off momentarily. Upon driving the vehicle again, the traction control light will turn back on and the previous steps need to be repeated.

I have been having issues with several things. First when I stop the car it acts like it doesn't want to stop. It will actually come to a bumpy stop finally. Another issue is that the check engine light keeps coming on. After having the computer checked the code was for the catalick converter not functioning. The last issue happened yesterday and wheni was driving my car decided to decelerate for no reason. I was luck I was on a farm market road and not a major highway. I have checked for recalls on my vehocle via VIN number. However my specific VIN is not listed, but I am experiencing some of the same problems that are associated with the recalls. The dealership will not help because my vehicle is not listed in the recall list. I fear that I am going to get in a wreck before this company recalls all of its defective vehicles!.

My acceleration doesn't work well, I have to make sure there is a lot of space to pull in traffic, other wise I will get rear ended because the car doesn't move fast enough, it just stalls.

I was turning into a parking spot outside of my work and the car revved and jerked forward; I had to swerve to miss and pillar and slam on my brakes because it jumped over a curb and almost hit a building! the parking spot was a little upward so I did have to have my foot on the gas.

My vehicle randomly shuts off. Loses all engine power, power steering, etc. Has been at the dealer 3 different times and no one can find the problem. Once we were stopped at a light, 2 times we were pulling out of parking spots, and this last time my vehicle was in motion on the street and the engine shut off.
