Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the push button start feature would hesitate to start upon pushing the button. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and resume driving; however the failure continued to occur. On the last failure, the contact stated that smoke began to exude from the engine. The contact and the passengers exited the vehicle and the vehicle turned off of its owns as the smoke began. The vehicle was first towed to the contact's home and then to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed with a defective starter, the starter was replaced. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Jo.
