1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2018

After filling my car with gas it runs rough and stalls several times while moving. After restarting it several times it seems ok until the next time I fill the gas again. When it stalls it sounds like the drivetrain is messing up. It does this city highway turning or straight. This has been happening regularly for at least 6 weeks only right after filling and sporadically for about 4 months or more.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Car kept stalling while driving. On two occasions it was very dangerous as the car stalled in the middle of intersections. Spent $1500 on replacing/fixing parts that never solved the problem. Finally I researched it found out it could be a fuel tank issue.

5 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2016

I have had an ongoing problem with my 2005 Dodge Magnum rt 5. 7l 58,000 mi on it. After filling up the gas tank , the vehicle will shut down during driving many times before finally going again. All power including the power steering goes. I didn't relate the problem at first with fueling , this has been happening for a few years. I took it to the Dodge dealer a few years ago , and had the pcm , and other parts replaced , stalled on the way home. Nothing has worked so far. This seems to be an ongoing problem with these vehicles . I don't even trust it to drive on the highway , and I don't like even putting my grandchildren in the car , because you never know, it could stall anywhere, I planned on keeping this car for a long time I still have very low miles on it. , and now I fear it. Dodge needs to do something about this. I haven't seen any recalls on this , but I have seen some people have had the fuel tank replaced stating it is the rollover valve. Just because these cars are older doesn't mean we have to give them up . Dodge please help! we shouldn't have to pay for a problem in 85+% of the cars.

9 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

Just filled up vehicle, was leaving parking lot, and the car stalled. I lost all power steering and brakes, it was very scary. Hard to restart, was afraid to drive it after that. Stalled a couple times subsequently.

10 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2014

This has happened twice in row while filling up the vehicle with gasoline. Once the fill up is complete and the car is driven away, without warning, the car will stall and upon restarting will stall again unexpectedly and without warning. This is a serious safety concern which could lead to injury or death with a vehicle that will stall without notice and in traffic.

11 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2014

After filling up with fuel the car has a tendency to stall at intersections or stop and turns. Also will surge or loose power at highway speeds. Usually only last for 0-15 miles or so and then goes away until next fill up. I believe this fault is due to a fuel tank issue, that when filled causes fuel to be shut off to engine. Possibility for being rear ended are very great with this kind of problem. Especially in high traffic areas.

12 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2014

Just after filling up at the gas station I started the vehicle put it in drive and started to proceed making it about 10 feet when the car stalled causing me to loose my power brakes and steering. I put the vehicle in park and restarted the vehicle. Again I put the car in drive and started to proceed onto the road when my vehicle stalled again causing me to lose my power steering and cross over the yellow line into oncoming traffic. . . . , luckily the car approaching me swerved to miss my vehicle which would have hit him head on. I then proceeded to the expressway thinking that maybe my injectors or something got clogged during the fill up so I thought that maybe if I were to get the vehicle going faster making more fuel go thru the fuel system and injectors that maybe whatever it was would unclog it. , this was definitely a bad idea now even though the vehicle did accelerate up to 65 mpg it then decided to stall again causing me to loose my power brakes and power steering at a high rate of speed. I was able to get the vehicle to the side berm and restart it luckily not causing any accidents and nursed the vehicle home having it stall 6 more times. I got home and googled my problem to find that similar Dodge and Chrysler vehicles with the same years and motors and fuel system were having the same problems. These cars were the 2006 chargers and also the Chrysler 300. It seems that there already seems to be an open case (# pe13-016) for this same problem. I called the Dodge customer service and they said there is nothing they can do for my vehicle. I don't understand. . . , this is the same engine and fuel system as the other cars that were mentioned in the other case and I'm experiencing the same life threatening problems as those other vehicles in question. Dodge knows there's a problem with the Magnum r/t but is doing nothing to fix it. It's a shame.

13 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2014

Purchased a used 2005 Dodge Magnum rt 5. 7 (as is no warranty )on 11/15/14. On the drive home from the dealer, filled the car with fuel and the engine was hard to start and after it started ran for a short time and stalled. After several start stall cycles near the gas station got the car on the interstate and it lost power at speed and ran rough for short periods but did not stall. After aprox. 10 minutes of highway speed the car ran fine. Two weeks later after fill up had the same stalling issues. Having read these cars have history of these issues, I attempted to lower the fuel level by driving the car. The car started and about a 1/2 mile from the house stalled in a busy intersection. Unable to restart the car, had to get towed home. The car started right up when it came off the tow truck. Siphoned 5 gal from fuel tank & can't duplicate failure. No error indications during failures.

14 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2014

We have a 2005 Dodge Magnum. The car would stall and shut off. We had the fuel pump replaced, instead of a recall, they changed it out with a lifetime warranty on the fuel pump. The problem is, the fuel pump hasn't worked, it¿s made my car worse. After waiting 5 months for a replacement, my car still doesn¿t work. I cannot drive the car, it¿s way too dangerous. I cannot believe that there wasn¿t a recall. I have read plenty of blogs online and there are others out there that this hasn¿t worked for either. Re open the damn case and get our cars fixed.

15 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

When the gas tank is filled, the motor cuts out and stalls when driving, I have to keep the tank at half way to avoid this. My wife filled it up and it stalled on her while she was making a left hand turn in traffic. My child was in the car as well. It appears that this organization as well as Chrysler was aware of this situation. I never received any notification and have been dealing with it for some time now. This is unacceptable as my whole family was at stake! please advise the next course of action. I am going to contact my local dealer as a start. Attaching a news article on the situation. .

16 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2014

The car will stall every time after I fill up the gas. It 's very scary because I don't know when the car will die on me when I'm on the road and cars are behind me and just very afraid of someone is going to hit me from behind when my car dies on me suddenly. Yesterday I went to fill up the tank ( not all the way full ), after I drove about 1 block, the car stalled. I was unable to turn the steering wheel and the brakes lost power, I ran off the road and down an embankment to a parking lot right front tire blew out as I hit the curb. Some minor body damage.

18 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2014

Filled tank and car stall while in the street!.

19 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2013

After filling my gas tank without topping off, my car stalls within the first 300 feet of the gas station and is then hard to start. Once it's restarted, for the next 40-60 miles of driving, my car hesitates and will often stall at any low speeds or stops unless I drop it into neutral and rev it up. 60-100 miles after a full tank, the car will buck when coming out of a turn and then stall if I let off the gas.

20 Car Stall problem

Car stalls shortly after filling up.

21 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

23 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

Just bought the car, filled up the fuel tank at gas station and went for a drive. At the first stop light I came to the car stalled while slowing down to stop coasted to a stop and restarted the engine after a few attempts, resumed driving and it was driving ok got onto the on-ramp to drive on the highway and it stalled again while merging into traffic same problem occurred several times until the fuel level went down after driving.

24 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum (45000) actual miles with the 3. 5 high output engine. When the care is started it makes a high end valve cover rocker are noise. I took it to Dodge to have them look at it, their response was yep typical 3. 5 l motor. They said that is I purchase the parts they will install at discounted rate. The parts are $345. 00 per side. So nearly $1500. 00 to get this fixed that should be fixed under a recall status. Doing internet research, talking to other owners about the same issue we are all in agreement. The consumer is getting the shaft on this one. What is happening is the bracket that mounts to the cylinder and is lined up into place via a steel dowel pin, the pin is sheering off forcing the rocker arm shaft to rotate. When this happens the oil galleys that are suppose to lubricate the top end of the engine is not getting the correct amount of oil. This causes the rockers to get out of alignment, causes excessive wear on the shaft holding the arms, and then just wipes out the top end. Please help those of us that cannot seem to catch a break on this problem. Imagine driving on the freeway at 75 mph and the engine lets go. It will cause problems for many that should not have been involved. Dodge customer service is no help, they simply do not reply to emails.

25 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2013

After fueling up the vehicle to a full tank the car seems to want to stall when coming to a stop. This happened on three separate ocassions within a span of 3 stop lights and when you go to restart the car it doesn't want to start right away leaving you vulnerable at a stop light just sitting there.

26 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2011

After filling up the tank with regular 87 octane and traveling less than a mile the vehicle stalled. I would restart the vehicle and it would stall again several times until about 10-15 miles it would subside. I realized after several fill ups there must be a correlation so I took my 2005 v8 Magnum into the dealership. The dealership stated that it would cost between 1,500 to 2 grand to evaluate and fix the problem which they thought had to do with the fuel tank. Since I could not afford the repair cost the only remedy was to stop short of filling up the tank. No stalls occurred if I would fill up the tank 3/4. This went on for several years until one day I was distracted and filled the tank up 100%. It did not stall at low speeds but when I got on the highway stalled at 55 leaving me in an unsafe situation (not having control of the steering wheel). Fortunately I was strong enough to manipulate the steering wheel to the side of the highway. I was fearful to begin again at high speeds so I placed my flashers on and traveled several miles at 35 mph with several stalls to follow. Now it is may of 2014 and the dealership has no warranty or recall noticed on this vehicle.

27 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2011

After filling up with gas the vehicle sputters and/or stalls. This can happen multiple times after one fillup. The vehicle is disabled in traffic and can be difficult to restart. This has happened at least a dozen times now and I am afraid someone could be injured of killed. I rufuse to let my wife drive the vehicle with my kids in the car.

28 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2011

Every time you fill car with gas it stalls you have to burn off gas before you can drive.

29 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2011

Bought a used 2005 Dodge Magnum 5. 7l rt in 2011. I've had multiple stalling issues with the vehicle. Likes to stall right after filling up the gas tank. Also stalls with gas tank at nearly empty. Can sometimes stall when making right/left turns or u-turns at intersections. I've learned to only fill up to half a tank, but issues still occur. The vehicle always stalls when going up a ramp in a multiple story parking garage. When going up the ramp, just as the car begins to get level with the floor at the top of the ramp, the vehicle stalls just about every time. Seems like a gas tank fuel problem. I understand that a safety feature built into the vehicle turns the engine off in the event of fuel detection in an area of the gas tank where no gas should be. Most likely in case of an accident leading to roll over of the vehicle. This appears to be malfunctioning. Possible flaw in the design. Chrysler/Dodge needs to address this immediately before someone gets killed because their vehicle stalled while making a simple u-turn or while driving high speeds on a highway. Public safety should supersede any cost concerns the company may have to pay to fix this problem.

30 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2011

My Dodge Magnum r/t, 2005, periodically stalls for the first several miles after a fill-up. This was sporatic at first, but now happens with nearly every fill-up. Normally it will be a momentary event while under power, but if I am stopped and idling the engine will die. It will typically restart right away.

31 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2010

Car stalled (loss of power) after having refueled (to full). Occurred multiple times until we determined that fueling to 3/4 full resulted in no stalling. Stalling occurred within 1/4 mile of driving away from fueling location - often in traffic!.

32 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2009

Our 2005 Dodge Magnum frequently stalls when moving at slow speeds. The first time it happened was over a year ago, after exiting the freeway, 10-15 minutes driving at around 60, proceeding aprox 2 miles to a stoplight which went from red to green, when trying to accelerate the car stalled. Since then stalls have happened after stopping at intersections, then pulling forward and making a turn only to discover that the car has stalled mid turn (very frequent) or even driving through the slow zone at the airport (5mph). . . We are becoming so accustomed that we known to quickly put in into neutral and restart the car as it continues forward but loss of power steering and braking makes the experience more than a bit nerve racking.

33 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2008

We have had this stalling issue for years. We are the only owner of our 2005 Dodge Magnum with a hemi. We know this car. I filled up at gas station a couple months ago & right after fill up pulled into the freeway and the car died. . Took a few try's to restart then restarted, and this occurs every time you fill the gas tank. I have reported this before and talked with Dodge but our VIN number is not covered. Why is Dodge not making good on the investigation done by the NHTSA. We have the same exact problem and require the same exact fix and they still refuse to cover the faulty tank design. It will cost over 2k to get this fixed. Why are some cars covered and other cars are not covered? why do we have to wait years for this to get resolved?.

34 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2006

: the contact stated the vehicle stalls intermittently. This happens at various speeds of 20mph and above under normal driving and road conditions. The vehicle was taken to the local dealership numerous times. However, the problem can not be duplicated.

35 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2005

While driving, the vehicle stalled. It happened several times. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer about 3 times to have it repaired. . The dealership told him that the cylinders were built too small, causing the valves to stick, and that was Chrysler's problem. The manufacturer told him to inquire about the lemon law. The consumer felt this was not an isolated problem and the public should be aware of it.
