1 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/29/2025

Vehicle engine codes were all corrected properly in hopes of fixing the stalling issues. The vehicle was seemingly better for a few days. Upon driving the vehicle on the highway at normal highway speed, the vehicle suddenly began flickering and shutting off and on. The vehicle would shut off and on rapidly. Each time the vehicle turned back on it would accelerate causing the vehicle to jolt forward and stop rapidly. The car would not allow me to brake safely. The vehicle behind was within inches of a collision but their quick response to slam on their brakes and swerved to the shoulder thankfully missed. This is not an isolated event. Speaking to other hemi 5. 7 vehicle owners this is a very common issue. I had a baby in a carseat in the backseat who was jolted around slamming the back of his head into his car seat. This is so dangerously unsafe. Not dealership can find the problem even after replacing every part possible on these vehicles.

11 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/07/2018

The shift controller is stuck in park. This is not a new issue for the manufacturer. The mechanic ordered part which should have been here 3 weeks ago and now they say Nov/Dec. The warranty CO tried to get the part and it came back saying January 2019. So, everyone's request is going to dealership and they are given a bogus date. Another car (Chrysler) has been sitting for a month due to the same problem. This is ridiculous. The car should be recalled because you cannot move it. It is a problem with getting it towed as well. Something is seriously wrong that these parts are not being recalled after being witness to the number of people this has happened to. Its a disgrace!.

15 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/09/2017

Recently bought this car took it to the shop because the car was cutting off on its own whether parked or in drive which is very dangerous. Had it checked out and it came up with a code for crankshaft position sensor, got that changed the code went away but the car still turns off on its own and no codes show up. Crankshaft has now been changed 2 times&& the electrical things were checked just to be safe!&& a few days ago I was driving maybe about 35mph & the car decelerated on its own and I couldn't accelerate had to turn the car off then back on.

16 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/16/2017

I have contacted Dodge after my Magnum nearly killed me (literally). They told me to pay for my repairs and keep my receipt in case of a recall. This is a huge safety issue and it needs attention. My gas pedal literally broke off while I was driving and was stuck wide open. By that I mean it broke off completely from the assembly that holds the pedal to the actual car itself! then, after I contacted them to bring it in to a shop, the shifter would not shift out of drive, and when I got it out of drive, it will not move from park!! I have done a lot of research and this is a common problem in this year of Magnum!!! it is going to kill someone!!! thank god I was at home so no one else would have been harmed and I was able to think quickly! I literally almost crashed into two very large cement silos! they refuse to repair this issue!!! it shouldn't matter how many miles (it has 157k which is pretty low for that year) I have never had a gas pedal break off nor have I ever heard of this before I started my search!!.

17 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/15/2017

Turn signal return clock spring broken tends to lock steering when broken are moved by turning the steering wheel #2 problem: transmission locked in the park position can't get to move into drive socar can be driven I understand that this is a common problem; why are these two things not on recall? both are safety related. .

18 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 04/28/2017

I am the second owner. The car is used very little. The first time I filled it up , not over fill the car started stalling out. It is an issue when all the power steering is not working and it stalls at low speed. The second time it did it I spent over 700. 00 dollars to check everything out. Car has 69000 miles. It's still stalling after I fill up. I called and my car is not covered under a Feb. 19,2014 recall. Same problem that started the recall. Owners are having the same problems. Happens at low speed and when turning after a fill-up. I will not let my wife drive this car, too dangerous.

19 Equipment problem of the 2007 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/09/2016

The common issues of many 2007 Dodge Magnum vehicles is that my shifter will not shift out of the park position, the spring was poorly made and the job cost at a local Dodge place $280. This issue has occurred with several Dodge owners and its outrageous that it not not considered a recall on my vehicle. My vehicle was parked on a side street and after work I went into my car to drive home and the shifter would not move.

My son's work is within five miles at 35 miles per hour the car died. Had to put in park restart. My husband noticed and vacuum hose loose so he fixed it. Next time on my sons way to work the car was at a red light and died. 2 days later I was driving stopped at a red light and the car stalled. Every red light stop, back home. I put car in neutral when stopped, car didn't die out. Green light back to drive no problem. Made it home! I waited like at stop light car die. Put in park shut it down. Taking to shop this week.

23 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/30/2015

Takata recall. When I had the first recall they replaced the air bag and when they did now the turn signals will not turn off by themselves and the steering wheel makes a popping noise when driving down the road and making a turn. I have no idea what they did when they replaced the drivers side air bag but that is the trouble I am having with my Magnum now and you want me to let them do it again. They need to repair the first mistake first but it is my only way around and no dealer will loan out.

24 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/11/2015

I believe my cars has a problem with the gas tank. On Friday September 11 2015, we drove the car and it had gas at the time, suddenly the car just turned off on the street. On my gas meter or gage is always reading it on empty when it has fuel. It's also smelling like gasoline now. We bought the car from a used car dealer and it's still being financed. How can I know if it's a manufacture problem, I did some research and it happened to say that this gas problem happens to the Dodge Magnum 2005-2006, if it's a manufacture problem do I call the Dodge dealer and will it be fixed by them. I have two children, I can't drive a vehicle that is not safe. What options do I have. The vehicle also has an air bag recall, which the dealer has not fixed because they don't have the parts it's been over 3 weeks since we received the safety recall notice by mail.

25 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/16/2015

When I fill my gas tank with fuel the motor stalls and goes dead continuously for about 15 miles then it gets better but it will die sometimes as many as 5 or 6 times.

26 Equipment problem of the 2007 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/22/2015

Car was in garage at home. I started the engine and was going to back out of garage but could not get shifter out of park. Had car towed to Dodge dealer. Service rep said he's seen other Magnums, 300's and chargers with the same problem. $510. 00 later the car was fixed. . . Entire shifter ass'y was replaced and car runs fine now. No indication of trouble before it broke but this may be a wide spread problem for Chrysler cars. Please investigate.

27 Equipment problem of the 2008 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/27/2015

Turned car off at gas pump to get gas. After fueling car the car would not start. Could not take car out of park. Turning the fob/key did nothing. Car was towed to dealership/garage who informed me there is a recall on a defective ignition but parts were not available to fix car. Car started for garage earlier but would not start again to take it home. After many tries I finally got car started to return it home on July 5, 2015. Car is currently sitting in driveway & will not start again. I am unable to drive to buy groceries or make doctor appointments.

32 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 12/13/2014

After filling up with fuel the car has a tendency to stall at intersections or stop and turns. Also will surge or loose power at highway speeds. Usually only last for 0-15 miles or so and then goes away until next fill up. I believe this fault is due to a fuel tank issue, that when filled causes fuel to be shut off to engine. Possibility for being rear ended are very great with this kind of problem. Especially in high traffic areas.

33 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

My 2005 Dodge Magnum r/t burned through the unibody frame rails directly adjacent to the catalytic converters. This caused the frame to develop rust perforations. Damage is the same on both sides of the car, concentrated where the exhaust manifolds meet the catalytic converters. This is a difficult area to see, let alone inspect due to tight confines and heat from the exhaust system. It was found while changing the oil dipstick tube. The rest of the car is exceptionally clean and has never been undercoated, in an accident or winter driven. Numerous technicians looked at the problem at Chrysler and independent garages. All of them agreed the problem was caused by heat from the catalytic converters burning away the factory rust protection and then accelerating rusting of this structural area. The Chrysler dealer bodyshop quoted over $8000 to replace the rotted frame rails, mostly labor because they would have to remove the engine, transmission, exhaust, front subframe and much of the interior. The Chrysler dealer service manager sent in a report to his district service rep. I also filed a report with Chrysler customer care, case file number 25844173. They informed me that since the problem was not chronic with Magnums and the car was past its 3-year rust perforation warranty they would not repair the car or help with repair costs. This is a major structural defect with the frame of the car, not a mere rust hole in a body panel! I suspect the problem may be found in other Chrysler lx-body models of 2005 model year. Out of concern for the safety of these vehicles I walked around a local junkyard and found a 2005 model Chrysler 300 starting to show corrosion problems in the same frame areas adjacent to the catalytic converters. I have been documenting and photographing all of this.
