36 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum on sept 1st 2014 as I was driving home the etc light came on the dash board, then moments later my car just died, shut completely down, I let it sit for a little bit then cranked it back up, but it kept shutting down with the etc light continuing to come on , I then took it to napa auto care to get it looked at, after almost having someone rear end me in the middle of an intersection. . . . They said it was the throttle body, they replaced it and I paid $304, the next morning I go to get in my car and the light comes back on and same problem happens, I take it back to napa they now say they must of gotten a faulty throttle body, changed it out again, next morning same thing happens, now they replace the main computer take it to Dodge get the computer reprogrammed and I pay $381. 00, guess what next day it leaves me in the middle of a very busy highway, won't even stay cranked at this point I have it toad back to napa demand them to put all my old parts back in and I'll take it to Dodge dealership. Now Dodge has my car and they replace a silonoied-throttle body , I pay them $476. 00 after telling them the hole story they still replae the throttle body. Guess what the next morning I have my car towed back to Dodge dealership, doing the same thing. . . . They now replace the board and say it might be a wiring problem but they think they got it, the manager keeps my car over night just to make sure, and low and behold the car breaks down on him, now Dodge is calling the manufacture waiting on a call back from them, they have no idea what is wrong with my car , and now I've been without my car since sept 2nd 2014. . . . I am not sure if this is helping but I don't want another car I just want mine fixed, and it doesn't seem like anyone can find out or figure out what is going on. . . . Very frustrating I wish someone could help me. . . .

38 Equipment problem of the 2008 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/22/2014

While driving home from work in my 2008 Dodge Magnum r/t one of the cooling fans disintegrated and damaged my radiator punching holes and causing coolant to begin rapidly leaking. After assessing the damage I was able to limp the car along to the next auto parts store I purchased 2 gallons of coolant in an attempt to get the car to a mechanic, it only made it 2 blocks since the leaking was so severe. I had it towed to my mechanic where he advised me of a recall and I should contact Dodge. I began researching the cause of this equipment failure. It turns out that Chrysler released a recall "customer satisfaction notification l08 engine cooling fans" for 2006 thru 2008 model year vehicles with "severe duty engine cooling" systems with the sales code nms, xdl or xdk and built through April 29, 2008. My vehicle has the sales code nmcs and has been excluded from the recall. However my research reveals that there is no distinguishable difference in the fans part number from the years 2004 thru 2014. Contacting Chrysler about this brought no results. I recommend establishing a record of these fan failure occurrences in vehicles that have other than the recall's stated sales codes, and that a new recall for all vehicles with this cooling fan system be released. The existing recall includes "sold to sales codes and/or are currently registered in warm climate states. . . ". I live in a designated warm climate state according to the recall. We were fortunate that the blades didn't cut any high pressure hydraulic lines or other safety critical or fuel lines.

39 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/09/2014

Attempted to drive vehicle, could not get shifter out of park. . . Completely stuck. Looked on the internet only to find thousands of others with same issue. I . Called dealer for apt, they knew right away what the problem was. . . Apparently an issue with Dodge challenger, Magnum and Chrysler 300. Totally unacceptable that I had to pay 378. 00 at the dealer for a known issue. . . The pink thingy it is called. A plastic piece that breaks. . . This should be a recall, I could have been stranded who knows where. . . And the advise on the internet as self repair is scary and potentially dangerous.

41 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/04/2014

The transmission (gear shift) was stuck in park. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and I, as owner was notified that there was no recall on my year of vehicle. There was a recall on years 2008-2010. Then I had to pay $287. 00 for labor costs and $12. 97 for the part. $301. 01 total. I strongly feel I should be reimbursed. Please contact me as soon as possible to resolve this matter. I am an elderly woman and I live on a fixed income. I feel this matter should fall under the recall for safety purposes.

42 Equipment problem of the 2007 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

While car was at idle the electric cooling fan "broke apart" and damaged the radiator. Dodge stated that a recall was issued for the problem but only for cars in warm weather areas (I guess California is considered a cold weather area) dealer stated that even though I live in a warm weather area the recall will still not apply to my vehicle. I find this totally unacceptable and will not continue my business with Dodge any longer.

43 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 03/07/2014

Transmission shift interlock lever locked in park. Cannot be shifted uunder any conditon. Failure disables vehicle and cannot be overridden.

44 Equipment problem of the 2008 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

I am having issue with reimbursement from Dodge on repair completed prior to recall.

45 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

When slowing down car shuts off.

46 Equipment problem of the 2007 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/17/2013

Vehicle automatic transmission shifter is "stuck in park". This leaves the driver stranded at a location. This is a very common problem with Dodge and Chrysler 2007 vehicles. (also, circa 2007) a recall was issued for the shifter interlock "pink thing" but only for certain vins. Mine has the same part, but not covered by the recall. If you look on the internet at "Dodge stuck in park" you will see how many people like me are in this same predicament. I am old and have medical problems for which I don't need to be stranded or may need the vehicle to get to a doctor, etc. Chrysler Dodge should issue a recall for the rest of these "stuck in park issues". Thanks!.

47 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 08/18/2013

Transmission shifter interlock lever return spring hook broke August 16, 2013, I parked my car in the garage at 9pm, no problems at that time. I returned on August 18, 2013 approximately 1:00pm to start my car and I proceeded to take the vehicle out of park and the gear shift wouldn't move. I pressed on the break again and tried again to take the gear shift out of park, it would not move. I couldn't believe this was happening again for I also CO-own a Dodge charger and the exact same thing happened to that vehicle on July 30th. I called my mechanic and he walked me through the steps to get the vehicle out of park (remove the plate around the gear shift, take a long screw driver and move the wire extending to the gear shift to the left, which would release the gear out of park) and it worked. I was out-of-town and completely stressed that this was happening to my 2nd Dodge vehicle. Both vehicles were purchased within a couple of weeks of each other and from the same dealer. (michael jordan Nissan). A recall has been issued for this part but neither of my vehicles are covered. I really need this to be investigated, for I need both of my vehicles to work properly. What are the odds of owning 2 vehicles from Dodge, having the same problem to occur with both vehicles within weeks a part.

48 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

Without warning, the car shuts down. This first occurred at a red light. The car just shut off unexpectedly and I was able to turn the key and restart it without problems. The engine shuts off while at a stop, while driving at lower speeds, while driving at high speeds, in town driving, highway driving, when it's hot outside, when it's cool outside, when idling. There are no dashboard lights (engine, oil, etc). There are no sounds, no shuddering, no kicking. My only indication that the car has suddenly turned off is that the tach needle goes immediately to zero. I have been able to use the momentum of the vehicle to pull off the road at which time I turn the key to off, wait a moment, and turn it back on. It restarts without problems. If I try to restart too quickly, there seems to be a hesitation in starting. We have attempted to repair many parts on the vehicle but it has not cured the problem.

49 Equipment problem of the 2007 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

First instance, while slowing down for a stop light felt a shudder and engine shut off, all other systems appeared normal. Coasted to stop, engine restarted without trouble. Near full tank of fuel. Second instance, while in a parking lot shifting from park to reverse engine shut off, all other systems appeared normal and engine restarted without trouble. Filled fuel tank the previous day, 3/4 tank today. Has happened on other occasions while driving at slow speeds but I do not remember the quantity of fuel, each time that car has restarted without instance and each time everything else appeared normal. The engine always seems to run properly and all of the cars other systems seem to operate normally.

50 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 02/09/2013

The car started normally after sitting in a parking lot for 30 minutes. When the car was placed in reverse, the car lurched backwards and began accelerating on it's own. I quickly applied the brakes and stopped the car and put it in neutral but the engine continued to race from idle to 3000rpm. I repeatedly tried to restart the car and the same issue arose. Finally the car settled down and I was able to get it home. I took it to the dealer and was told the throttle body was bad and I replaced it. Same issue reappeared and I was then told it needed to be initialized to the new throttle body. The day after having the work done at the dealer the car began to accelerate on it's own in traffic. I contacted the dealer and was told there was a common problem with the pcm's in this particular car. I cannot believe that Chrysler has a car on the road that when the pcm fails, the car will accelerate on it's own. Chrysler says there is nothing they can do as it is out of warranty.

51 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Vehicle ignition will randomly shut off vehicle especially when taking a corner car goes completely dead can be restarted by shifting into neutral and using ignition sw. And may not do this for a few days but repeats this at random sometimes 3-4 times in a row in a 20 min period very dangerous when on the highway going 70 mph !!! bought this new. . . . . No other owners 386-736-5773.

52 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/07/2012

Immediately after filling gas tank with new fuel the following has happened several times: the car will start at the gas station but shortly after leaving the gas station (within a block or when getting back onto the highway from a rest stop) the car will stall. The stall can happen at a traffic light or even on the way to reaching highway speeds. At this time my solution to the problem has been to rev the engine in neutral for a bit after getting the gas tank filled with fresh gasoline.

53 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 10/04/2012

Whenever I fill my gas tank, the vehicle will stall within one or two blocks from gas pumps. It can happen at 20 miles an hour or less. It can happen entering a highway at 50 miles per hour. The car will start right up and will normally run fine after stalling. On one or two occasions it stalled twice after a fill up. Lately it happens after each fill up regardless of gas station or brand of gas.

54 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/15/2012

My Dodge Magnum for the last year " total of 4 times" has stalled only after refueling along with the steering wheel locking. There is no warning !. No engine light. ! the car just shuts down . But this last time it almost caused a accident. Too close to a disaster. I had my child in the car . I have read the complaints on this site. And I know I am not the only one this happens to. Why is this not being addressed !!! I have never had this happen to me with any other car I have owned. I baby my car with servicing . I have 134,282 miles. I haven't had a issue with the car ever. Until now. I believe it's a faulty part. This is a life threatening issue. As well as the psychical stress not knowing when my car fails me. Why is this not a recall with the Dodge Magnum fuel system? which causes a vapor lock without warning. Does someone have to loose a life to get this addressed ?.

55 Equipment problem of the 2007 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 09/11/2012

Vehical stalls while driving. Can happen at any speed. Has happened several times and could happen at a time when a serious accident could happen. The dealer claims no knowledge of such things and advised that it was bad fuel pumps. The replaced them at a cost of about $1,200. 00 and that did not fix the problem. I beleive that after my research it is the tipm module. Dealer has refused to repay me and I am afraid to let my wife drive the car as it is a intermittent problem.

56 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 01/31/2012

After refueling and filling up the tank, the car will shutdown under braking, cornering or at a stop. This happend so frequently I no longer fill the tank and stop at 3/4. There are several instances reported both here and in canada on the car forums. The fix has been either replacing the tank and/or the evap valve and pump.

57 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/21/2011

2005 Dodge Magnum sxt awd filled vehicle with 89 octane gas from speedway on several occasions car would stall upon leaving the parking area to enter into traffic and then would restart after several attempts.

58 Equipment problem of the 2005 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 05/03/2010

Car stalled (loss of power) after having refueled (to full). Occurred multiple times until we determined that fueling to 3/4 full resulted in no stalling. Stalling occurred within 1/4 mile of driving away from fueling location - often in traffic!.

59 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 07/09/2009

60 Equipment problem of the 2006 Dodge Magnum

Failure Date: 11/06/2006

I purchased a 2006 Magnum from lithia of fairfield in may of this year, 2006. The vehicle was running fine for the first five months (may-oct) with the only distraction being one of the rear windows operated fine from both power switches for 90% of the time. I took it in during routine warranty service and explained to one of the service managers but because the power window switches were operable that day I was told there was nothing they could do (that didn't sit to well with me, but I shrugged it off and said ok). In October, a few other incidents happened like the blue tooth quit communicating with the system. I figured to wait until my next routine service maintenance to have it looked at in a few weeks. Around the same time frame I noticed the vehicle did not shift smoothly into reverse and that while sustaining a steady highway cruising speed the vehicle would feel like it wasn't firing on all cylinders if I gradually increased the rpms. I made note and asked to have this investigate at the same time I was taking the vehicle in for the scheduled maintenance. Unfortunately (or fortunate, depending on point of view of surviving a highway accident), the transmission failed while on the way to work driving on a very, very busy and dangerous stretch of road where the average speed is about 75 mph. The fortunate part of this being I was able to limp along for about one half mile on newly completed shoulder of the road to an exit. I literally shudder, which sends chills down my spine, to think "what if my wife had been driving the vehicle?".

Crowhopping is the term used by most websites google crowhopping Magnum rt awd tells it all on multiple websites with multiple customers. . Dodge has seem to term a blind ear to this year model that seems to have the same as another year with the issue. Contacted dealer main office. . . And they said they never heard of this no surprise.
