1 Defogger problem of the 2007 Dodge Nitro

Failure Date: 08/08/2012

Had to make a bank deposit on/around the evening of 08/15/12. When I left my home and turned on the air conditioner, I noticed that the air was blowing cool, but not cold (although the temperature was set at the coldest setting). At first I did not put much thought into it because it was a hot and muggy evening. Two, the bank is right down the street from my house and figured the car had no time to cool down before reaching the bank. Not until the following day was it apparent that the air conditioner was no longer working and only blowing warm/hot air. My husband is a hvac technician and was able to refill the freon for the air condition, but when filling the freon he noticed the degree was not getting cooler. When the air conditioner was turned on; all the freon leaked out into the Nitro. It was so bad, I had to pull over and allow the car to air out because the fumes were choking us. For a car that is less than 10 years old, I find this highly unacceptable that the air conditioning system has such a major leak as this one.
