Equipment Problems of Dodge Nitro - part 2

On 3/21/18 I was driving through a major intersection when the battery dash light came on in my truck. I found this to be odd since I had just had a brand-new battery installed on in my truck on 1/8/18, then the following events occurred in rapid succession: all of the dash warning lights came on, the a/c which was on at the time and blowing very cold air, began blowing hot air, I attempted to roll down the electric powered windows and they would not work; the windshield wipers came on without prompting. I quickly decided to turn around and go back home since I was a short distance away. I decided to take a route through a residential neighborhood since I was unsure what would happen next and thought it would be best not to be on a major roadway if anything further occurred. I made a left into the residential neighborhood and noticed my truck was moving very sluggish and making a weird noise. I was approaching a stop sign up ahead; however, before I could apply the brakes my truck just cut off. I quickly put the gear in park and attempted to turn on my hazard light for oncoming traffic to go around me but I realized at this point my truck had absolutely no power. A gentleman on a bicycle stopped to assist me and we decided it would be best if he pushed my truck around the corner I was stalled at, to keep from obstructing oncoming traffic. He instructed me to put the truck in neutral but I was unable to do so, I could not turn the car on nor could I move it out of park gear. The street I was stopped on is a major road for entering and exiting the neighborhood that I was attempting to pass through to get home. The vehicle acted like it was possessed. The dash lights went off then back on, the headlights went off then back on, the wipers turned on by themselves, engine turned off while going down the road at 60mph, starter keeps turning after the key is removed, doors lock by themselves with nobody around, and now it wont start. It just cranks over.

Electrical problem when pressing unlock button my doors lock instead. My plug outlet no longer works. When rolling down driver window down. Passenger window will roll down and up also. My gas cap light has stayed and and gas cap has been replaced. Shift solenoid.

Loss of power and car turns off while driving. The etc light came on. Very dangerous. I was driving 60 mph down the highway.

Driving the vehicle suddenly stop moving, the hazard lights, wipers, windshield washer washer, horn constantly blowing, engine running but not moving, just stopped moving in city traffic, extremely hazardous and life threatening situation. I noticed on social media this appears to be a very common problem with 2008 Dodge Nitroes, why have there not been a recall on such a common problem with these vehicles. The headlights randomly turn on and off even when the car is not running. This is draining the battery frequently. Replacing the battery has not helped with this issue. The turn signals will randomly begin blinking while I'm driving. The horn has begun sporadically beeping while driving and also when the car is off and parked in my driveway. The heat has completely stopped working - it only blows ice cold air which is the last thing I need when it is below zero here in the mornings when I am leaving for work. There is clearly an electrical problem which seems to escalate over time - and it seems other years of this vehicle have been recalled for these same problems. I am not understanding why the 2008 has not been recalled. I am terrified of what this problem will escalate to - I have a young child that I must transport daily to daycare.

My truck is have trouble with timps system and it's a 2007 and I seen it was a recall.

The intermitten windshield wipers go on and off whenever. Even if the engine is off it still happens. Also the horn with suddenly blow with no warning. I have had it go off at 7:15 a. M. And wake the whole neighborhood. Unplugging the fuse from the electrical box makes it not quite so loud but still blowing. I have taken it to the dealership but unable to leave overnight. Their suggestion was to disconnect the battery and horn would stop blowing. I am 77 years old of sound mind and that is not an option for me. Told me to bring back when it did it again, which it did this morning 9/26/17. They are charging me almost $150. 00 for a diagnostic when I told them what the problem probably is. The tipm circuit board. The service agent said it was a costly repair. I do not think I should be paying anything since this seems to be a problem with this particular vehicle. I'm extremely concerned that if the horn starts to blow and I'm behind someone who takes offense and could end up with a road rage incident. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and I am waiting to hear from them. Help. It makes no difference if the car is in my driveway or on the road (which it was this morning). There is no warning it just happens. I've also been concerned the vehicle will catch on fire .

Failure of drive train and transmission at 94,000 miles. Authorized Dodge dealer shop is saying $13,000 to fix.

Found an issue with the internal check valve in the fuel tank & filler neck the evap system is operating correctly & not restricting the filling & vent system recommended replacing the fuel tank, fuel filler neck & gas cap.

Vehicle stallls while driving it happens at all speeds and all types of roads highway 70 mph to neighborhood at 25 mph. The emergency brake engages, all interior light start flashing on, except all the lights for the heater controls go out and we lose power to cigarette lighter and power steering is lost. If it doesn't lose power completely the transmission won't shift and the car needs to be shut of and restarted. Other days vehicle won't start at all, or will start and immediately shut off.

When I got my ride the horn was unhooked. So I reconnected it and now the horn honks itself and my auto up window switch isn't working.

Takata recall . . . Once again nothing is still being done and my problems got worse it's already been diagnosed as the tipm and not only did it start out as horn blowing and doors locking and unlocking by its self and trying to stall while driving now lights are flashing while unoccupied and have flashed off going down the road. . And as I went to go to work due to lights continuously flashing it ran my battery completely down left me stranded. This is a major issue. Ive spoken with my warranty company they said it's not covered I've also called Chrysler and they refuse to do anything about . Let me add heat and air and heated seats go hay wire as well . But I guess it's time to get a lawyer. . I'm not paying big money for something that's gonna cause me harm .

Electrical for door panel went out. Can't roll windows up or down, and can't lock door from driver side. But the light is still on in the panel.

My 2011 Dodge seems to have an electrical issue. I am unable to use the defrost, or air. Each time I turn it on the engine begins to run hot. Also my windshield wipers turn on when I start my engine, but they were not engaged. This happens wen the vehicle is turned on and stationary as well as when in motion.

While driving on the highway at speeds of 70mph my vehicle threw itself into 2nd gear and has been stuck in this position for over the last couple days. I did not touch anything to throw it into this gear. I drive a standard. When I took it into the shop. I was informed that it was locked in 2nd gear due to the tipm. I am having to order the part and get it replaced. I was driving with my 2 year old son in my vehicle I thank god that nothing worse happened.

Takata recall car is having issue with horn honking at random times, windshield wipers going off at random times, windows rolling down without reason, doors locking and unlocking, and headlights turning off while driving. Poses a serious threat while driving especially at night.

The winshield wipers turn on and off, the horn keeps honking, doors lock and unlock on their own, heater turns on and off, and the vehicle will not start sometimes. The vehicle isn't constantly doing this but it will randomly happen when the vehicle is in motion or even when it's on idle.

I took my 2007 Dodge Nitro to have a diagnostic test conducted and it was noted that the cause of my automatic door locks would not operate because of something related to thetimp module.

Electronic window switch keeps going out, and the tipm light keeps comiing on. When I driving down the street the tipm light stays on didn't know what that was, I thouhgt it meant my tires, so I purchased new tires, still comes on and now my window want roll up because of this module.

The wind shield wipers come on and wont turn off and none of the lighting controls work , high beam, on /off, dash controls. . . This happens randomly.

My truck honks randomly been dealing wih it for 1-2 years. . It honks when its off or when im driving its very scary as a female having to drive it like this. I had tipm replaced and still having issued I removed the fuse for horn but afte a year my battery started to die and I hear a sound coming from fuse box(tipm) not sure whats the problem but I have read many people have been having issues. . . Battery dies overnight when car is idle. It starts with a jump start and is fine during the day. I found the problem is that the dash board lights are coming on at night draining the battery. I also hear ticking & weird noises from the fuel box under the hood. A/c does not work, horn does not work & I am washer fluid does not come out when trying to clean windows! hazard lights flash & the alarm goes off for no apparent reason. Took it to a dealer who said he received about 15 different codes when running diagnostics & that the dealer needs to flash the pcm.

The driver's side door lock only works intermittently with the automatic key fob. Even though you can hear the locking mechanism actuate, the horn sounds and there seems to be a slight movement of the lock post, it doesn't physically lock the door. You can still push the outside door button and the door will open. I've found that it usually takes 2 - 3 attempts before it will lock. I've note after an online inquiry that several others have had the same and/or a very similar problem as well, and it was noted in one post that it was found to be a problem with a module in the door mechanism. I feel that this is a safety issue warranting a factory recall and/or repair as it constitutes a vehicle breech that would allow a safety and/or theft avenue. Using the key to physically lock the door each time shouldn't be the expected response, as several others noted in their post that this doesn't always work, and the automatic key fob should be expected to work as it was intended or it's pointless to have even provided one with the vehicle. It should be said that the fault only occurs with the vehicle stationary and that at this point the doors automatically lock as intended shortly after the vehicle is in motion.

The passenger door handle breaks off. I have replace this door handle 3 time out of my own pocket. I feel as if this now has become a recall due to it continuing to break.

Interior door handle drivers side broke, pressure used to open door not much, only what is needed to trip the latch and open. Had to lower window and use outside door handle to get out, removed panel from front and back doors, moved the rear interior door handle to the front for a quick temporary fix, waiting for that to break also. The complaint is a safety issue, that does not seem to be addressed or fixed by Dodge. . . But you can buy a $40+ handle from them, the same kind that has the chance to break again. You can see this by just looking on Dodges forums for this exact complaint - with no resolve.

I went to run errands stopped at the post office drop off a package at the boxes in the lot. Didn't pull close enough so I opened the door to reach drop box. Went next to buy groceries and when to open the driver door the handle no longer worked. . So I had to turn my car back on, roll my window down, open the door, roll my window back up. . . You get the rest. This is a huge concern for me because I have children and lord knows something serious happens and I can't get out of my car because my handle breaks!!! if I'm heaven forbid hit on the right side and or there's a fire. I can't get out. Do something about this. Dodge has had nothing but issues with the Nitro since it was made. Hence the reason Dodge stopped production on the Nitro. All why is a larger sized body sub put on a Jeep liberty frame? had I known this would never have purchased the Nitro.

Engine shut off while driving 35 mph. Was able to restart it. Second incident horn and wipers go off and can not be shut off. Has happened while driving and while car is sitting.

2011 Dodge Nitro gasoline fill spout and fuel tank is affected part. Every time I fill up the vehicle with gasoline it spews out of the gas tank all over me and the side of the SUV. I've contacted Dodge and they say there is no recall. I contacted the dealer I bought it from and they claimed to have fixed the issue and yet it persists. This is dangerous and hazardous to my health. There needs to be a recall fixing this issue.

I was just getting back from lunch and was about to exit my vehicle when the handle broke. So I had to turn my car back on, roll my window down, open the door, roll my window back up. . . I have a 2008 Dodge Nitro 4x4 3. 7l . My rear break pads have worn about 1/8" into the rotor. I had gotten new tires for my vehicle not too long ago & ever since then I have been hearing what sounds like a clanking sound that seems to be coming from either the driver side rear or front tire area. It only makes this sound between speeds of 5mph to 30mph, then it seems to go away after doing 40+mph. My breaks don't squeal or make sounds when I push them. Only when I accelerate from a complete stop does this clanking sound occur. I have not inspected the rotor yet,but looks fine from what I can see. I know I'm gonna need new break pads soon but I have no clue what or where this sound is coming from.

Upon filling up gasoline at two seperate gas stations on two seperate days, gasoline was observed to spew out even though the gas pump itself had shut off. Possible inlet control valve defect, filler tube defect. Unsure but gas simply spews out, about a half gallon before stopping.

Confused with different information regarding replacement / repair of the driveshaft or boot. Which of the following is correct. . . Replace the whole driveshaft replace just the boot one mechanic says the shaft that needs to be replaced is from the transfer case to the front differential is this a after market part or dealership part? concerned - recall driveshaft issues with 4x2 2007 Nitro - why would 4x4 and 4x2 have driveshaft issues but recall on the 4x2 only.

I was getting out of my 2007 Dodge Nitro and the handle just broke. I looked up online and there seems to be a ton of people having the same problem. Why is there not a recall yet?!?.

Since March 2014. The horn has gone off by itself (3), the truck has died while driving at a speed of 30 mph (1), truck has failed to start (1).
