Esp bas lights (appeared after). As I was driving, the car felt like it hit a brick wall even though it didnt, it slammed me into the steering wheel and then continued driving. At that point, the esp bas light came on. Have attempted to contact Dodge or Chrysler by phone with no chance at reaching a person cause of robotic answering services.

Brakes not working properly, problems with heater core.
For the past year or so the brake pedal goes to the floor usually while braking and hitting a bump. Brakes will eventually go back to normal sometimes after a few minutes and sometimes after a few hours. Pumping the brake pedal does not help. Unsafe because never know when it's going to happen and braking power is greatly reducing during these events. This happens every few months or so.

The car jerks back an shits off randomly in the road an the emergency brake doesn't work it almost caused me to get in an accident.
I love this vehicle except for the brakes. We've had to get the brakes worked on more than 10 times. We've replaced just about everything to do with brakes. Just when you think they are fixed, something else happens. This is a 2008 and has less than 38000 miles on it. We take very good care of it. I can't take it anywhere because I'm not sure if it will make it. I was going to trade my Nitro in for a for something new. I think I will be looking into a Ford SUV. Very , very dissatisfied!!!!.
The brakes give out when hitting a pothole, sometimes it just goes out.
Vehicle lost power, brakes & steering, all warning lights lit up, wipers and pump running continually, horn blaring continually, and fan motor running even with keys out of ignition. This happened in rush hour traffic on the way to work and I barely got it off the road and out of traffic before coming a stop against a curb! replaced the tipm & battery within the last 4 months and it's only gotten worse!.
The wiper relays went out recently and somehow caused the door locks to beep and go crazy then die completely. And a few weeks ago the brake came undone somehow and fell into the wheel well, ripping the inside of the rim open causing a blow out while my wife, 2 year old and I were on the freeway. And now after taking it to 2 different Dodge dealerships, the problems are not fixed, there is more warning lights on than I've ever seen. And so far both places have told me they fixed an emblem on the steering wheel, and that the other recalls aren't applicable because of being a 2007 and the recalls are for the 2008. Even though my Nitro is obviously having the same if not worse problems. All the way down to the emergency brake not working, we love our Nitro and Dodge as a company and would please like some kind of help with this situation. Our vehicle is our only source of transportation and it is not safe for us to be driving, especially in the winter conditions we just got hit with here. Thank you for your help to whom this may concern. Here are some pictures of what happened with the brakes, thank the lord we were getting off the freeway when the brakes gave way, if we had been on the freeway 15 seconds more, the accident would have been fatal without question.
While driving, when brakes are applied after hitting a pothole or indention in the road, the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. The vehicle eventually stops. Brakes will eventually come back up to normal position. This has happened exiting the freeway, and on city streets.
While driving and getting close to a stop, if I hit a bump while braking, the breaks will fail and and loose all pressure in pedal. Still brakes, but you really have to step hard on brake pedal. You get pressure back on pedal sometimes a few days after have to pump on pedal to get pressure.
The air bag lights comes on and off constantly.
My Nitro is having a problem with the abs system locking up or sometimes chattering then locking up when in 4 wheel drive on slippery city and highway roads, additionally when I remove my foot from the accelerator in that situation it actually speeds up.
When vehicle is in motion on a city street and hits a bump or rut and I hit the brakes, brake pedal goes all the way to the floor.
My parking brake has not been holding my vehicle and this time it about ran me over and put my grandson in the lake! something must be done about this! this is a safety problem and needs to be addressed. The date for when this happened is the most recent. It's been intermittently since I got it and nothing was ever found wrong. . . .
Horn blows will unoccupied. Doors lock and unlock by itself in or out if vehicle, vehicle has stalled several times, break light on and breaks failed ,heated seat either burn you or won't work, a/c comes on by itself, gas is disappearing really quick, oil light comes on, starter sticking, took to dealership and was diagnosed with tipm failing. S several times its tried to stall on me traveling on highway and Friday ran upon a slow vehicle in a curve and break light came one as I applied breaks and had little to no breaks. I almost hit the other vehicle due to this . This obviously is a safety issue and needs to be handled . And its even affect the remote start as well . It won't run 30seconds and it shuts off . Can't lock doors knowing they'll stay locked either . But most importantly above all is the stalling out its all tried to do and massive amount of fuel its dumping into engine getting into my oil ruining my vehicle and the electrical issue is gonna cause something catastrophic and needs to be recalled ASAP.
I have had problems with my car starting for about a little over 3 years. It randomly will not start and will only click when you try to start. It started out turning on after a couple of attempts and has escalated to more than 20 attempts before it would start. We have replaced a lot of parts, have contacted Dodge corporate, got 2nd opinion and still having problems. Today I went to work and had to go to a mtg so drove there and when I came back and went to start my car it would not do anything. I heard a humming sound in my car but noticed the esp and bas lights were on on the dashboard. I thought ok maybe my first problem has come to a head and now will not start. I called the dealer, called a tow truck, and after waiting about 30 minutes, it started. I decided to drive it to the dealership myself. Upon reading info on internet I see that this problem has to do with the brake system, I think. I have not heard from dealer. There are no recalls on my car but the dealership has not been able to fix my car for the first problem and now I will wait on second problem. My car only has 85,534 miles and when problems started I believe I had about 58,000 to 60,000 miles. It has been a good car up until these problems. Online I see people have some of these problems but no answers. Help us please to fix my car. Car is always stationary with these problems.

The park brake does not hold, causing unintentional movement. This vehicle has a manual transmission. Even when left in reverse, the vehicle creeps on steeper inclines. When talking to Chrysler, I am told my VIN is not included in any recalls. There was a recall (h28) that addressed this situation on this model and year of vehicle. The problem exists in the hand brake slack adjuster. The emergency brake shoes were inspected and properly adjusted. The hand brake lever runs out of travel before the brake cable tightens enough to securely set the brakes.
While driving the vehicle on the interstate it will just shut off. No lights on dash or warning. When this happens you have no power steering or brakes. After getting it stopped and restarting it will drive fine. Other times the remote will not work the locks, it will lock and unlock by them selves after you open the door and try to start vehicle . You can put the key in the ignition and it will not start lights on dash will go off and on and after a few attempts it will start. There are times you can not put in in park you can shut it off and restart it press brake pedal and nothing works to put it in park and then it will just go in park like nothing was wrong. All of these things happen up on occasions with no warning. It all will work fine for weeks or months and then it will act up again. The heater does not blow hot air on one side, every year you can flush out heater hose and radiator and it will blow hot air for a month or so and then it will go back to only blowing warm air out on one side. No codes are ever thrown when the things happen. There is never a warning and when you take it to the dealership or a mechanic they can never find anything wrong with it.
Breaks have gone out twice now and I have been told its because of me running with my emergency brake on. Not true and I have had to replace all breaking system. Cruise control does not work while on hwy took it to dealership 3 times and they said it works. I have had electrical issues with window motors and wipers along with cruise control.
Driving on a bumpy rode, I come across a pit hole, I hit the brakes to avoid any loss of control of the vehicle, and while doug so I feel my brake shake and the suspension give out cause the brakes to go all the way to the floor as if I have no brake power, took to shop they did a total break repair of $400, come another rainy day brakes go out the same way, shop said its must be a manufacturer defect.

I had 2 consecutive instances yesterday where, while driving, all of the notices came on on the dashboard display, my anti lock brakes locked up and then released, along with my horn and front and rear wipers engaging and not being able to be turned off. Also, once I pulled over and removed the keys, these issues continued, and the vehicle was still running despite no key being in the ignition. After waiting approximately 20 minutes, and once all of the anti theft features had stopped, I got back into my car, started it, and no more than 40 feet down the road, the vehicle repeated the earlier issue with the anti lock brakes locking up momentarily, the horn was blaring, and both the front and rear wipers started and wouldn't stop even when trying to use the wiper control to turn them off. Again, the vehicle appeared to still be running even after shutting the key off and removing it from the ignition.
Esp. Anti lock brakes, and bas light came on dash, vehicle jerked to side, no anti lock brakes, or stability control. Had to shut truck off to reset.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Nitro. Th e contact stated that the emergency brake was not working properly intermittently. The contact used the owners manual to bypass the transmission lock out feature. The vehicle began to roll forcing the contact to apply excessive force to the parking brake and the brake pedal at the same time; to ensure that the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the drums needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure recurred. An independent mechanic also diagnosed that the parking brake handle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was scheduled for inspection, diagnosed and repaired by an authorized dealer. The contact was not included in NHTSA recall campaign id number: 13v121000 (power train) and had an automatic transmission the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. Dyd rk.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Nitro. The contact stated that the brakes were inoperable. The contact received a notification for recall NHTSA campaign number: 08v525000 (parking brake). However, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 119,000.
The emergency brake never worked like it should, even when new, the electric window switches and power door locks work when they feel like it, and the inside door handles break for no reason other than poor workmanship and poor choice of materials (plastic) rendering them useless. These are all known problems for years with Dodge Nitros . They should be forced to recall them for these reasons, especially because they are all dangerous. It's like the money pit. Dodge wants $150. 00 per door just to repair the handle assemblies. Are they kidding me? who makes a door handle out of cheap plastic? we take care of this vehicle like its a new car, and never abuse it. It has only 60,000 miles on it. The first door handle broke with 30,000 miles. Dodge had better do something before I no longer own this vehicle or I will cross them off my list for good. I have no problem going back to Ford and staying there. (or Hyundai for that matter).
Esp can not be shut down completely. The problem I am having is when I need to pull the boat off a slip, it activates when wheels spin or begins to slide applying the rear brakes aggressively. Also when I am in 4x4 and spinning in the mud it also does the same resulting in almost getting stuck or getting stuck, which makes me use 4x4 more often then not. I have contacted dealers and Dodge about this issue but they say its integrated into the abs system and can do nothing about it. I have gone through several rear brakes and rotors due to this issue. All I ask is to change the modes on the deactivation from 70 percent to 0 percent.
