Brake Electric Antilock problems of the 1996 Dodge Ram 1500

1 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2003

When the brakes were applied, the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance and rear ended another vehicle. The dealer kept the vehicle for over a month and could not duplicate or correct the problem. The consumer contacted Chrysler who sent an investigator to look at the vehicle. The lights on the dashboard were no longer illuminated, they just flashed.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2000

Abs and the brake lamp come on and sometimes stays on. Blower motor sometimes won't work when shutting off the car and starting it back up. Then, if tapping the bottle it will start up. Consumer has had same problem as recall for blower switch.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 08/19/1997

Upon depressing the brake pedal the pedal goes to the floorboard, causing extended stopping distance/ brakes fade away. Consumer awaiting to take vehicle to dealer.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 10/15/1996

While applying brakes at 35 mph vehicle would slow down, but not stop. Vehicle would continually go on, even with both feet on pedal. Vehicle been to dealer shop on six occasions, and unable to locate problem. Feel free to provide any futher information.

5 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 04/15/1996

Poor abs performance, the vehicle pulls to the left and right when the brakes are applied, also extended stopping distance.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 11/11/1995

When driving on icy and snowy road conditions and applying the brakes, the front wheels lock up and the rear wheels do not stop vehicle. Vehicle has been to dealership (3) times for same problem. Vehicle is at dealership now.

7 Brake Electric Antilock problem

When applying brakes they rubbed, throwing driver forward. Please provide further information.

In wet and dry weather when applying the brakes they lock up, took to dealer, he said there is a problem but can't remedy the situation.

When applying the brakes the rear brakes didn't work and the rear of the truck jumped up.

While driving and pulling trailer load, upon braking, action seemed ineffective in stopping, vehicle continued to roll forward, resulting in extended stopping distance.
