Air Conditioner problems of the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500

Four problems related to air conditioner have been reported for the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Air Conditioner problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2006

: the contact stated while driving 55 mph on normal road conditions without any warning signals, the a/c was not working properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealership who determined the system should be recharged; tracer dye was added to detect any leaks. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again, after a new failure and the tracer dye indicated the leaking was from the evaporator coil, which was located inside the cabin. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed there was no recall for the a/c system. The contact expressed concern because of the toxicity of the freon gas affecting all occupants inside the cabin.

2 Air Conditioner problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2002

Defective evaporator - charged $1,017. 81 to repair - wrote to service manager at suncoast Dodge in seminole, FL on 08/24/02.

3 Air Conditioner problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2002

Van, consumer states the air conditioner does not cool the vehicle. Dealer has examined the vehicle and found no problem. Ts.

4 Air Conditioner problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2001

Air condition reverts to defrost causing windows to fog, reverts from air vents to defrost vents while traveling on roadway, causes windshield to fog and visibility to decrease.
