I bought a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 truck. It was 2 yrs this may/08, it is now in the transmission shop getting a rebuilt tranny at the tune of $3k. The electronics went out and it was full of metal!!! it had low mileage when I bought and seemed in great shape, boy was I screwed. One week after buying it I called clarke motors in virginia to tell them about this light coming on and they told me it was nothing , just a computer sensor - not to worry about it. It is a damn crime that this company continues to build faulty vehicles and puts the consumer as well as their employees at risk. Where is the class action??? where do I sign up?.
Have had to replace transmission twice, making a total of 3 transmissions on a vehicle with less than 75000 miles! the 2nd was 200 miles over the warranty. Daimler/Chrysler response. . . Too bad. Also the dash has cracked , and the rear window leaks. Georgia lemon law is worthless!!.
The dashboards of our Dodge survey truck have failed and had to be replaced at our expense. Not only have the dashboards failed but the transmissions as well, and again replaced at our expense.
2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 w/ over drive . Transmission needs to be replaced after 75,000 miles. Also have had several other problems with truck during the three years.
Consumer stated that they could change gears without there foot on the brake. Dealer notified.
Transmissionwould not work at one point heard a loud bang and transmission started working again about a month later transmission started to screech and lock up causing rear wheels to lock up. Headlight switch defective or a short in the wiring have to beat on dash for lights to come on. Also a/c fan clutch locked up. Built ram tough is a bunch of crap.
The yellow abs and red brake light comes on intermittently, the brakes don't function properly when the lights are on. Dodge has replace sensors, doesn't fix problem. I'm concerned about safety, and this causing a crash. . Also the transmission isn't upshifting from 2nd gear. Nlm.
The transmission had to be replaced at 35,000 miles after being taken in for service 4 different times for overheating of the transmission which would cause the o/d to kick off while you were driving. End result found that the ball that controls the flow of the transmission fluid was getting stuck closed, not allowing the fluid to flow.
Lost transmission in normal drive on a flat road , would not shift into any gear , had the vehicle towed to the dealer and they changed the filter and transmission fluid with no further investigation into the root cause of the problem. If this had happened in traffic it may have been the cause of an accident as the vehicle lost all forward motion instantly.
While driving 25 mph vehicle stop suddenly for no reason. Took to dealer and dealer indicated needed transmission. Please add VIN.
While vehicle was idling, consumer left it in park and exited vehicle with wife in passenger seat, there was a loud noise and vehicle jumped to reverse at a fast speed into a store.
Consumer is able to put vehicle in gear without pressing the brake pedal.
