One problem related to overdrive light on has been reported for the 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Purchased vehicle private sale. Accompanying paperwork showed transmission fault code p1740 at 34826 miles. At 37,500 miles p1740 light came on again. Rest by mechanic because initial paperwork indicated problem had been repaired by replacing the pressure boost valve cover plate. At 38,450 miles the o/d off light came on and truck would not shift into overdrive. Transmission tem light came on within 10 minutes of slow driving.
