The dashboard of my Dodge 2001 Ram 1500 quad cab is completely cracked. I keep a sun visor on it but it made no difference. It is so evident it is a manufacturers defect. Every Dodge truck I see on the road in my area that is like mine has the same issue.
I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. The dashboard is literally crumbling away. I spoke with the dealer and they admitted to a known issue with the manufacture of the dash component. Parts are not currently available due to high replacement demand. Dodge is selectively covering repairs or replacement. The main concern is that pieces of dash could fall off and disable the some of the vehicles electrical components (ie. Head lights, tail lights, turn signals ect. . ) another concern is that in a collision a piece of dash could break off and hit my spouce or one of my children causing injury.

2001 Dodge Ram 1500, the dash is literally crumbling daily. I have 1 very large hole & large cracks all over. The dash had gotten worse every week. I have done nothing to repair this as it is not repairable unless the complete dash is replaced. The hole in the dash reflects a glare as its right in front of the driver.

1) unknown of what event lead up to this problem 2) the dash board on my 2001 Dodge truck has several cracks that have appeared over the las 6 -10 months. I have researched the internet and have found may entries where other people are having the same problem with their truck. The dealerships are telling people that that the dashboard is not a recall item and that nothing can be done about as far as the dealers stand point. As far as I can tell this problem is isolated to just Dodge products and they need to be forced to make this right.

Our truck has always been parked under a carport and has only 58,000 miles on it. We have heard that the dash will collapse and cause an accident.
I have taken my cloth cover off dashboard 1 time a month to clean it since I bought this vechile and there have been no problems. Today I take if off and crack and breakage. I feel there is a safety issue here if an accident should happen pieces of the dashboard will fly throughout the vechile and the cracks are almost to the passenger side airbag. How will this affect the air bag will it work or will it not its not a risk I would like for anyone to have.

Dash board is falling apart. Started cracking 2 years ago and now is segmented into about 5 main parts. Purchased truck new in 2001. Contacted Dodge and they said I had to pay for repair,if a recall was done then I would get rembursed. This is a safety hazard if in crash parts could fly into the face of driver or passenger.

Dash of truck has had multiple cracks for the last year; now, large chunks are breaking apart and falling in/out - now dashboard components are exposed to the sun & front portion of dash is loose and ready to break off also. Dealer says lots of trucks have this problem but they're not obligated to do anything about it. They recommend paying to replace w/large labor costs.

Dash board falling thru on my 2001 Dodge ram causing shortage in wiring and speakers started about 6 months ago and I have contacted Dodge and they said there was nothing they could do about it, and have learned lately I am not the only one having this problem.
I purchased a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup ext. Cab/short bed. Like most other Dodge ram owners of that year, my dash is completely falling apart. There are cracks all over it and two large holes have caved in on the dash. I have another hole getting ready to cave in on the passenger side. I have noticed on many websites that this is a known issue with the 1996-2001 Dodge ram trucks and Dodge will do nothing about it because it isn't a "recall issue".
