My mom and I were heading home from church when this man in a pickup ran the stop light and totaled my pickup, my mom had to be taken to the hospital because of a head injury and other injuries. The police came out and no one was ticketed. Anyway I got ahold of Chrysler and they sent me a letter in the mail stating that since it was not a head on collision they were not responsible. They said that since in was from the side, that it did not matter if the air bag deployed or not. My pickup passenger side air bag did not deploy this is why my 82 year mom was seriously hurt! my question is why are air bags put in vehicles or required if they are not going to work? I don't have the money or the means to hire a lawyer, and I'am without a vehicle and have been for quite awhile. The big 3 auto makers should be held responsible for all of the air bag problems that are going on even if they do not deploy! any help from you folks would be appreciated. P. S. I had to guess on my actual mileage but I know it was over 65,000. I apologize for bothering you folks but I need help. Jerry.

My son was traveling 65 mph on an interstate when he was hit from behind on the passenger side bumper. This caused him to hit a concrete barrier on the drivers front bumper and then he bounced off of the barrier and hit another concrete barrier on the passenger side front bumper. Neither frontal airbags deployed. Dodge said that they sent a 3rd party investigator to look at the truck after it had been decided from the insurance company to be totaled. Dodge said that there was nothing wrong with the airbags and that they did not deploy because "the airbags never deploy when a vehicle is struck from the rear first". My son sustained shoulder and neck injuries and bruising of the brain. He was going approximately 65 mph when he hit the concrete barrier and Dodge says that "due to the deceleration from the rear impact the airbags were not supposed to deploy". We requested a copy of the engineers report and were turned down.
